  1. So my Comanche left me stranded for the first time since I got it last week. Was running down the road to pickup lunch and it died after going about 2 miles. No sputtering, no struggling, it just quietly shutoff the engine. I did my normal figuring out why my jeep won't run routine, checked that no wires or hoses shook loose, and checked that fuel was in the rail. Fuel pressure seemed low to me, as not as much as normal shot out all over the place. It would turn over just fine, maybe sound like 1 cylinder would fire then just nothing. So I assumed it was low fuel pressure, bad pump or regulator, got a pressure gauge and tested it today after charging my battery. Pressure read 31 psi and it started right up. I don't think it was a bad battery because I cranked it a lot when I died, probably 2 or 3 minutes of cranking in total while trying to restart it on the side of the road. I couldn't really hear the pump priming on the side of the road but it was super loud with all the cars going by, but I can hear the pump now in my driveway. Also, I have done all of Cruiser's tips over the years, not to say something couldn't break or degrade in that time. I replaced the fuel pump when I got the truck in 2019, think it could be a dying pump? or am I missing something obvious? What should I check first? Really hate that I can't trust my truck now.
  2. I have found literally 0 information about this style of alternator, and can find only a few "upgrade" alternators that range between 300$ and 700$. I will not be able to buy this. Is there anyway to switch from the old style alternator to the new style in order to make replacement easier, and act as an upgrade? (Pic related, Old VS new Style mounting)
  3. Hello everyone, unfortunately I have to make this post about a transmission problem. It’s a 1992 with a manual 5 speed. I’m pretty sure it’s the AX-15 and not the Peugeot one but there’s so many other Comanche and Cherokee parts from other years on that thing that I’m not too sure about it. It started when I was on the highway. I sped up to pass someone in the right lane and I start to hear this gradual but sudden whining noise. it didn’t feel any different, except for a little more vibration than usual coming out of the shift knob. So I get off the highway and come to a stop to try out the gears. Reverse, first, and second are all fine, but when you shift into third fourth and fifth you get this nasty vibrating noise. It only happens when you accelerate, and it gets more high pitched when you shift up gears. Like I said it still drives exactly the same, no power loss or anything like that. So if anyone knows anything about it please let me know. I don’t know if or when something bad is going to happen, but I’m guessing it’s a when.
  4. So I was an idiot and bought a Cps with the wrong plug Its the newer style 3 wire plug while I need the older 2 wire plug. any hope in switching them around or do I need to cut my losses
  5. Anybody know any good paints that match the navy blue interior? I’m trying to paint some of the dash and trim pieces like the vents for the windshield but I’m trying to keep it looking OEM as possible. Please help me! Thanks a lot :)
  6. Hello. I ran my carfax on the VIN. Says its a 1988 as I assumed. But I think my engine was swapped out somewhere around 2006 as the mileage has moved around over the years. I am trying to determine if this is the original engine for this truck? As well as making sure i order right parts as I put it back together. Here is what I know. The Head reads 2686 with a large 89 on the top in the middle The block reads 53005535 on driver side front. The block reads 6-10-89 on driver side near firewall. So all signs are leading to an 89 engine in a 88 Comanche? The tag on the passenger side near distributor is almost unreadable, as best i can make out is only 6MX2I Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
  7. Stock running height with four cylinder. I pulled the front axle out. The po did a crap job at converting it over to 4WD. It now has the straight axle back in it. Now I’m stuck. I’ve done searches and only seem to find shimming for lifts. Can anyone let me know how many shims on the lower control arms are used to adjust the front so I can drive it safely for a complete alignment at a shop?
