  1. Georgia attended her first Jeep show today. And she was the only MJ there. People seemed to enjoy checking her out. She was also "ducked."
  2. PM sent! Thanks!
  3. Unfortunately no. I ran out of them years ago.
  4. Found a beauty today about 4 miles from home. Didn't have time to really look her over but I made a U turn, pulled in, and got a few pics.
  5. Rebuilt the old/spare Saginaw TC power steering pump. Looked pretty good inside. Was leaking at the shaft seal.
  6. The wheels & the Pep Boys chrome portals on the fenders were both questionable fashion accessories for sure. I think she could have been easily fixed but my guess is insurance wrote it off. 2WD with that kind of mileage books for $1300? A shame though as the body looked to be cancer free.
  7. Replaced the driver's door handle, latch, & lubed up the lock. Door was getting hard to open but I didn't realize how hard I'd been working at it until now. Spring on the door handle was broken and the latch went through about 75% of it's travel before doing anything. JY latch cleaned up well and the 4dr XJs use the same handle in front & rear so I grabbed LR handle. All of the haunted fun house noises are gone from the latch now as well. Glad I got to it before it failed completely!
  8. Looks like a nice, solid rig. Glad you saved her . Have you found any rust on it yet?
  9. I went to the junkyard today & found an XJ that didn't look that impressive until I looked inside: Yes: 422K miles! Looks like the accident took it off the road. Last oil pressure reading looked pretty good.
  10. Georgia got a good shot of TLC for Christmas I found the exhaust manifold was cracked so I got her a header. The intake was filthy inside & out and I cleaned the injectors as well. When I pulled the manifolds I found the driver's side motor mount was in terrible shape. Finished everything up this afternoon & she runs/drives a lot better now. 724013596_runningafterheader.MOV
  11. $22.5K for the one with the window sticker on it & the other 2 were around $10K.
  12. Saw 3 MJs today at the Rod Run in Pigeon Forge TN. All had rather ambitious prices & 1 had the original window sticker.
  13. Standard GM is round key for exterior doors, trunk, glove box and square for ignition. However, it was different when they first went to the square/round setup. My '69 Cutlass uses the square key for doors & ignition, and the round key is for glove box and center console lock. Briggs & Stratton/Strattec is a great source of info if you fish around a bit. The 1980s and 1990s ones are around, I just pulled the below link as a quick example. https://aftermarket.strattec.com/application/files/1315/5181/3647/1974_Briggs___Stratton_Catalog.pdf
  14. Passed this '86 on the way home from work. I actually framed the shot quite well in the pass window of my MJ...
  15. 59K miles??? Awesome! 4.0 HO I assume?
  16. Figured it was time for an update. Knock on wood, , DW hasn't reared it's ugly head since the WJ LCAs went in... It was nice out tonight so I took a glamour shot of the Jeeps.
  17. It's an A/C bypass/blockoff/ or idler pulley, depending on what site or store you're searching. Last time I checked they made a new one for the HO engines but not the Renix ones. So far the AC Delco w/p is doing well. I had to replace the AutoZone w/p 2x, both times started making scary noises. The first one left a scar on the outside of cyl #1 water jacket.
  18. That steering wheel is mint! Haven't seen a tan one in that kind of shape in, well, decades... Does the XJ Waggy have the system monitor? That would be a great addition too. I'd only ever seen one on a Renix XJ in the jy but I was quite intrigued by it.
  19. Reading through a few build threads might help answer your questions about 4X4 conversion. I converted mine to 4X4 and put a lot of it in my build thread.
  20. The ride does feel different. In addition to no DW the ride is nowhere near as harsh when hitting bumps, etc on the interstate. I don't notice much difference in town but, at highway speeds (60mph) she rides a lot better. The best description I have is that it's comparable to putting 84 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz diesel seats in my old '88 Isuzu P'up. The OE seat had the comfort of a piece of cardboard wrapped in cloth. Those Cadillac seats were plush, tufted leather and made more difference than ball joints & control arm bushings.
  21. So far this week I've seen a different MJ each day at some point in my commute (3 for 3). Typically I might see an MJ other than mine every 2-3 weeks. I got pics of 2 of the 3. Today's was a gray/primer bombed job traveling in the opposite direction on the interstate but I couldn't get a pic: Monday's MJ is the white one. Tuesday's is the '88 Olympic Pioneer 4x4 LWB. Couldn't resist pulling Georgia in for a shot of the pair:
  22. Glad you finally got the new Durango!!
  23. GM series II or series III Buick 3.8L engine. It's an excellent engine and the bodies they come wrapped in tend to be older drivers that take care of their cars. Olds 88, Buick LeSabre, Pontiac Bonneville, etc.
  24. Had a surprising, and fairly violent, episode of death wobble on the interstate. Guess that still isn't behind me so the question is what's next? I figured control arm bushings were probably due again (did them in 2013). This time around I decided to go with the boxed WJ LCAs. Trimmed the bushings and upper portion of the arms and got them in today. In the first photo you can see a new, stock WJ LCA on top, WJ LCA with trimmed bushings in the middle, and stock MJ LCA on the bottom. Photos 2 & 3 show what I trimmed off the top edge of the WJ arms vs the stock arm.
