  2. Body looks solid but needs a lot of work: https://charlotte.craigslist.org/pts/d/york-1989-jeep-xj-comanche-eliminator/7058982040.html
  3. Here's the front driveshaft info:
  4. ZJ pumps through '95 are a direct interchange for my MJ, which is why I picked it up. No advantages other than the fact that it works and the Mexico reman unit I got at the parts store didn't. It sounded like marbles in a coffee grinder.
  5. If the lines are OEM they're both 18MM. I've encountered aftermarket lines that are 18MM feed and 3/4" return.
  6. I just finished replacing the pump & box and have it bled out. The junkyard pump sounds normal and the fluid in both donors was clean. Now to drive her around for a while and see if my dead spot is gone:
  7. The reman pump was junk (sounded like marbles in a coffee grinder), so I hit the LKQ sale and harvested a '94 ZJ P/S pump and another steering box from a '97ZJ. When I replaced the steering box a few years ago I had to put the old pump back in as I needed her on the road. Unfortunately the fines from whatever was eating itself in the box/pump eventually ate up the box. Here's what was in the oil:
  8. I just pulled another ZJ box for my MJ. The AutoZone 27022 puller works well to remove the drag link from the Pitman arm. Drag link nut is 3/4", Box to frame bolts are 5/8", fluid inlet & return lines are 18MM, and the steering shaft pinch bolt is 13mm. The AutoZone HD pitman arm puller works to pull the Pitman arm from the box but you need to replace the bolts that hold the puller arms together with grade 5 or grade 8. The bolts with the tool stretch & bend easily. I took a tubing cutter so I could cut the pressure line and connect pressure & return lines in the junkyard. Keeps the ports clean and keeps the mess to a minimum.
  9. Thanks & Merry Christmas! Work + the move has been all-consuming but yes, I'm happy she has an indoor home now. She's now sharing garage space with the '69 Cutlass convertible . Got the pump changed out earlier this week. Looks like the bearing was going out. New pump is fairly loud at the moment but I'll drive it for a bit and see if it calms down.
  10. Looks like my P/S pump is starting to go out. When it's cold outside (less than 40 degrees) I have a dead spot (no steering assist) for the first 45 degrees of steering wheel travel. After 3 or 4 turns it's back to normal. She is loving life in the garage though
  11. Been a while since I posted an update on Georgia. New job & moving to TN so I've been working her hard. She's not a fan of climbing the mountains between NC and TN but she takes it all in stride (55-60mph pulling a long grade in 4th). Trans is doing well & I should have garage space for her at the new house
  12. The roof rack turned out nicely! Did you build it from scratch or did you modify an existing rack to fit? The new emblems reminds me that I need to add the 4X4 emblems to my MJ one of these days.
  13. No problem. Just keep me posted. It's keeping my spare 4WD external slave AX-15 company so either way is fine.
  14. I have a spare 3.07 D35 from a Comanche that I've been keeping as a backup for my MJ in the basement. Needs brakes & a brake backing plate but the gear set looks good. I can send pics or you're welcome to come up & look at it. I'm just south of Asheville, NC so pretty close by. $150.
  15. When you said the P code didn't exist in the KJ FSM I was curious and checked Alldata. Same result P codes for the '06 diesel KJ. Goes from P1169 to P1250.
  16. Haven't had much time to keep the build thread updated with my current job (55-60 hrs/week doesn't leave time for much else) but I did roll 290K this week!!
  17. Very nice!! The paint job is great & the OE decals make it pop.
  18. Looks like it needs some TLC but has good bones. https://greenville.craigslist.org/cto/d/1991-jeep-comanche-pickup/6704996895.html
  19. I had a guy knock on my front door one Saturday morning, asking me if I'd ever considered selling Georgia my '92. I live on a dead end street and the truck is typically parked at the end of the driveway between 2 houses so she's not that easy to see unless you're really looking. It really took me by surprise. I told him everything has a price and showed him the truck. His offer was way low but he enjoyed seeing her. During this time the wife came home and asked me why I was inviting random people over. I told her I was glad she came home as she'd have never believed the story had she not seen it. Random chats happen quite often but this one was a full court press.
  20. As it will have a good home in an MJ I'd let it go. I'll send you a PM shortly. Out of curiosity I dug the 97+ AX-15 shift lever out of the basement and the P/N is 52079226. It's stamped on the side of the lever.
  21. I knew someone would need one of these things! Last fall I picked up a 4WD AX-15 from a '97 or '98 XJ that I rebuilt and put in my MJ over Xmas. When I found the XJ I opted to grab the shift boot & retaining bezel with the trans because, well, when was the last time you saw one? It doesn't have that curved piece on the side but I have a P/N on the bezel: 52079309ab rev b 1-5-98 I can send a few pics if you'd like. I also discovered the 97+ AX-15 shift lever is different and had to reuse my old one, albeit with a new plastic bushing. Maybe the shift lever differences caused your bezel to break? I think I have the lever in the basement too.
  22. Looks decent. Might help someone out who needs a bed. https://charlotte.craigslist.org/pts/d/jeep-comanche-parts/6535499507.html
  23. Pulling the old AX-15. Flywheel and all the clutch components looked ok: Wasn't happy with the LUK plastic throw out bearing at all. Poor fit and the spring didn't engage the entire front of it: Ended up reusing the old cast iron unit. It only had 25K miles on it and was nice and smooth:
  24. Case Cleaned, reassembling transmission:
  25. Cleaned it up, ordered the rebuild kit, and cracked it open. I checked all the clearances, replaced bearings, synchros, shift keys & springs It was a good donor as the gear train was in pretty good shape. The 1st gear bearing was starting to go so it wouldn't have lasted too long without some TLC:
