sure did. My brake pad broke into multiple pieces also. it also just felt unsafe to me as the brakes were not sliding like they should be.

heck just spring it over and get some 4.5 springs. you are going to want to run 33's anyways!

Laptop Mount Installed - PICS!
bhorocks replied to LEAD_NOT_FOLLOW's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
cool setup check out the asus eee laptop. it would work great for wheeling as it has a 7 inch screen and a hard drive with no moving parts. (solid state) I would love to pick one up for my jeep. small and gets great reviews. -
i had the same issue on my tj. the grooves on the drivers side wore down 1/4 inch. caused my pads to be all messed up... just get a replacement knuckle at the junk yard. they are cheap prolly 20 dollars at a pick a pull.

i hate that internal slave cylinder... Lucky my new transmission i'm putting in this weekend has external!
-
didn't notice you run the auto. I have one of those in the garage but decided to keep the 5 speed. not sure about the auto.. but i still love my jeep! regear if you go bigger and you will stay happy. 4wd won't make a difference to power if you don't go bigger tires.

have the 2.5 renix injection with 33's and 4.10s manual transmission which i am assuming is the same as yours. 2wd currently but doing a 4wd swap this upcoming weekend. I have no issues running with traffic although 5th gear has no nuts at all but i still use it at cruising speeds. I am going to 4.88 soon which i am hoping will make it pretty close to stock. I also love the fuel economy! I drive a tj with the 4.0 also and the gas mileage sucks in that thing. my MJ uses 1/2 the gas as the tj. Keep the 2.5. when gas gets to over 4.00 you won't think twice why you stayed with it! I am also pushing 210,000 miles and it is still strong!

ax5 2wd to 4wd swap. couple questions?
bhorocks replied to bhorocks's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
can i pull the front yoke from a 231? never mind found out that is a yes.... going back to the junkrad!! -
ok got the transmission/tcase today!! i pulled it from a 2.8. it has an external slave cylindar. my ax5 has an internal. Is this easily swapable without changing my clutch? also it has a np207 and i want to upgrade to a 231 but i am worried about input spline count. which 231 would be compatible with my ax5? and if i keep the 207 is their a flange adapter to change that cv front drive shaft over to a regular driveshaft? i am keeping the 207 to do a doubler someday as i have been reading up on it and it looks cheap to do! any info people have would be awesome!

i bet you could diy for under 100. the cluctch disc on autozone is only 33 dollars.... its not that hard to pull that trans i did mine solo in two hours.

ok, i know this has been posted before but i askin again!! I want to get the updated 2.5 as mine is gettin tired at 230,000 miles. I'm sure i need motor wiring harness and all the vacuum lines right? anything i might be missing? is the a/c compresor the same or do i have to drain my system and swap that over too? Also hoping to do the brake booster swap as well. found a 2.8 with the ax5 today so the whole 4wd swap will be going down next week if someone doesn't pull it before half price day!!! lots of fun stuff going on over the holiday week if all goes as planned... what does everyone else have goin on?

would the t5 work with the same clutch pressure plate hydraulic system????? Just curious as finding that t-5 is soooo much easier and costs less than getting my hands on an ax5. I have a tf904 auto but would prefer to keep manual transmission behind that 2.5 then i can go to any blazer with a 2.8 in that parts yard and be done with it. -
i'll put it on tommorow after i shrink the pic.

dealer should be able to run you off a set if you can prove ownership and bring the VIN, i know they can for ignition but i think they can for door too. tried it... to old. they didn't have my info on file.. was just going t oget new locks from a cherokee at junk yard someday... if i can find one with keys.

Need advice on a striped caliper bolt.
bhorocks replied to jtdesigns's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
not to disuade you but now sounds like a good time to go to the junkyard for that 4x4 swap! tell that wife it is not repairable! thats what i would do... she would't know any different!!! -
i done it so i broke my vent window. cost me 5 dolalrs to replace at the junk. bigger problem though i broke my door key using it for something i shouldn't have. :wall: so i leave my doors unlocked always.

upgrade interior to 2000ish cherokee? yes/no?
bhorocks replied to bhorocks's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I'm sure i can do it. I just read some of the forums and it doesn't sound easy for sure. mostly getting all the gauges to work sounds like the difficult part -
nice find that is exactly what i did except i removed one instead of putting them in!

rear driveshaft length. yes, another one
bhorocks replied to JeepcoMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
when i measured for my solid axle nissan it had a slip yoke i measured from the output of the tcase to the back of the yoke on the axle. driveshaft shop did the rest. i used string to get it dead on. -
