ditto.. But seriously, the offset washer seems cool, but the real solution is providing the correct trackbar. If it is bolt in there should be no need to drill new holes. is it that hard for them to have the right length for 6 inch lift? especially when you paid 200 dollars ish. 6 inches is common. that sounds wrong but you know what i meant.
-
I personally would be upset that it was like that. redrilling the trackbar isn't the way to fix it. if the trackbar was the right length then it should be fine. I would send it back and find another supplier if they won't send you a longer one. that is messed up in my opinion.

i would not drill an oval hole! that is going to cause sever deathwobble having all that room to move around I redrilled my axle when i first lifted my truck almost an inch over. that was with my 2wd axle i have the same issue with my trackbar now (rustys) I plan on trying out that trackbar relocation where it goes on top of the axle instead of under it.

trans/tcase 2wd vs 4wd measurement
bhorocks replied to bhorocks's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
i got a qoute yesterday for 50 to cut and weld and 50 to balance. still seems expensive considering it doesn't take that long to do. heck it's a machine doing the welding! I Should open my own driveshaft shop for that cost! -

trans/tcase 2wd vs 4wd measurement

X2. Finish the lift, get all the running gear in, then measure. Tom Woods has a good procedure for doing this on his site. He'll be happy to help ya too. That's what I did with mine. Better doing it this way as you can allow for more slip yoke spline engagement too (if you're not going SYE). funny thing is in a previous post i told a guy to do the same thing.. lift them measure.. here i am trying to have it done beforehand. -

cool thanks for the info. i was also going to convert to the external to make my life that much easier. I already replaced the internal once and don't want to do it a second time. -
trans/tcase 2wd vs 4wd measurement
bhorocks replied to bhorocks's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
interesting.. but i think the difference is mine was a ax5 not an ax4. it looked like my lenght difference was 9.25 inches. either way the advice is well taken and will certainly come in handy. -

2.8 ax5 comanche front driveshaft. which is the same anyways bummer... I left the 2.8 front dshaft at the junkyad cuz it felt weak.. Might just go back and get it for the meantime -
well it handled like a turd even after getting alignment so i got the drop brackets due to my debate of RK 3 link OR drop Brackets. then people said skip the RK 3link and get the TNT kit.. so i am saving for the TNT kit while i have Drop brakets. besides i already had upper adjustables and superflex lowers. I only have 4 degrees postive now but it handles soooo much better. might cut an inch off the upper adjustalbes to be able to thread in more. but i am happy with it for now. I just want to drive it for a few days till i do the trans/tcase swap.

replacing clutch hydraulics
bhorocks replied to undercoverwalrus's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
i wasn just reading your post that you wanted to change both. but if you are leaving the slave alone that is not a bummer! -
doing some simple measuring and wonder if anyone has this info. is the ax5 with np207 9.25" longer than a 2wd ax5? that seems to be what my measurment shows. want to pre-size my dshaft so i can just swap trans and stab the shaft in.

the question is, is it an internal slave or external?? if internal you need a full day for that. (pull trans ) if its an 86 then you are running that ax-5. If it is external then you are a happy camper! -
forgot about that part.. they are cheap anyways..

the tamarisk in the background must mean he is at least in the four corners. welcome aboard. looking forward to watching you get that thing up and going.

33's on and did some cutting
bhorocks replied to mjeff87's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I see TJ's all the time with the 4 banger and 33's.  why does everyone sandbag the 2.5 so much? I run it with my 33's and 4.10 manual trans and to be honest it does fairly well. I plan on going to 35's and 4.88 and still keep the 4 banger. gas mileage is really good and maybe 5th gear sucks but it cruises down the highway just fine. I had my 4.0 xj and yes its better but i would swear the 4 banger is better than half the v6s out there. reliable and not bad on power. heck if i pop my 2.5 i plan on just throwing a rebuilt right back into it. well, we will see after 35's anyways. -

SEXY!!!!!!!!! i like it. -
finally got around to doing some more work.. orioginal lift had ford f150 springs whcih worked well but didn't last long. got some 3inchish re springs put em on. after a few months time to start on the 4wd swap. Should have taken lots of pictures but i didn't. got a great deal on some 4.5 springs and bought 1 3/4 spacer to level out my rake i had so needed to get my caster back to spec. started with adjustable upper control arms and some fixed lowers. still couldn't get the caster right at 6 inches of lift the ride sucked and the death wobble was rediculous. talked to lots of people and almost went with the 3link Rockkrawler kit but after much decisiveness went with drop brackets. after one day of having them its nice... next step tomorrow night i am pulling the 2wd trans out and putting a ax5 4wd behind it. have to change the bellhousing as the v6 doesn't have the CPS slot. no biggie. i'll try to get more pics from here on out to help document and show people some stuff. especailly during the trans swap. still have a lot of cleaning t odo on the trans. it had 1/2 of dirt packed in some places shifts fine though and appears in good running order after the trans swap and drivelines looking to put in a 8.8 whcih i will be sure to document well for everyone.
