I probably could, but it's that damn luxury style one with the rubber. It's in my opinion most likely a bad thing for offroad. -
Aight Checking My Lift Plans (Homebrew)
rockhardzj replied to CMMagnussen's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I thought people were  for going to leaks in the front... Why would you want a harsh, crap ride like that? I'll get you this far, but you've got to find the price on their site:http://www.mountainoffroad.com/more.htm -
Rocky.....Don't you have your "friend's" '91 MJ listed for $4800??? Not my truck, and I have no control over what he wants for it. I'd pay 2000 for it, if I had the cash, and if he would go that low. But that's the most I'd pay for it.

Make them yourself is the only option. These jeeps were never designed with the intent of taking the doors off...

did you buy that wheel and tire combo off my buddy? Paint looks great!

Not at all, I know of probably 5-6 locally, but I haven't made any friends at any, so deals most likely can not be had... :( -

Not that I am, but Who ever said I wasn't? I also don't plan on this being a permanent solution, more of build it to work for sticky situations, like if I kill a good one on the trail. I may just cut the tube to size though, and have the shop finish the job with new yokes. It's up in the air right now, but it's gotta start before it can go anywhere... -
IMHO, too high. 2000 is the highest I'd ever pay for an old truck. Not like it was a one-off production for a million bucks...

I'm going to cut off, and shorten and weld the XJ style ones back onto my axle, they are in great condition, but currently, they would limit my ground clearance... They currently droop down like 4" lower than the axle tubes...

Trailer has a YJ on it right now, so it's loaded. I can get good axles cheap to free locally, but thanks for the offer! Actually, come to think of it, I saw a kind of crusty brown MJ in the Corning area, wouldn't have been you, was it? I was driving a blue WJ with an 18' half-open center trailer.

No, shaft is in the bed of my truck, awaiting it's sunny day. I still don't have the project running, and i just got put off a week with this trip to high-roller-USA here in White Plains, NY down near NYC. When I get back home this weekend, I will be getting more jack stands and the YJ will be loosing it's axles for a week or three while they get overhauled at the shop my buddy words at, so that is taking time away from my MJ... It will get done, eventually... If you try this, You MUST make sure you cut the tube at a perfect 90* angle, so check it 15 times or more before laying any beads. I might experiment with my own driveshaft balancing act, and see just how precise I can get it with some hose clamps. I figure once I get the yokes on, I'll just tack them on and check and re check a bunch of times, and keep doing so until all the tacks become one weld, and then install it, and see if I can slowly balance it by working its way on speed and positioning of the clamps to find where weight is needed. -
ditto  At least somebody is on the same page as me... WTF is wrong with the rest of you, carrying on normal life? This girl is golden, I mean, look at her, shes good lookin, doesnt dress like a slutty girl, and still gets down and dirty with an axle overhaul!

I essentially took the 90 from buffalo to batavia, cut down the 81, i think it is to the 390, took that to 15, then to 17, and down 87 to the 287, hooked off the highway down the road a mile to find out I got the wrong key for the apartment mailed to me, so I had to wait for like 45mins for a maintenance guy to get in. Not a bad drive, and even with the trailer, I didnt really notice it much when laying into the skinny pedal to go up hills, besides the longer shift points, the WJ did a wonderful job at towing. It doesnt tow with a rig behind it often, but I am beginning to think I may need to talk my sister into some adjustable shocks for the rear to keep the rear off the ground a little more when loaded with a vehicle.

Well, what's the point of that? is it fresher water with a screen door? :D

I'm thinking you mean Image maps. You can make a picture of peter the fat-a$$ pig, and make his toes point one place, and nose another, and not encode anything into the picture itself. It's code in the page that does it, either HTML or Javascript. Check HTMLgoodies.com, I know there's a primer there about it.

Well dammit, I'm still awaiting an answer to my question here... Who's the chick? and I'll add another question here as well, What's her phone number? :brows: I want an answer to both questions, PRONTO! :D

Well, I got a few new toys out of it, including a 7gal air tank that will be going into the bed of my truck and will eventually get run by a york air compressor. I got a few other goodies as well, including a set of deep impact sockets, so I can't complain too much. Yea, I'm a good brother, but hey, she's done a lot for me, so its probably the least I could do. The YJ will be loosing it's axles for a week or two, while I send them off to my buddies shop to get them rebuilt, and new alloys out back, possibly up front as well, along with new seals anywhere and everywhere, and possibly regearing as well.

Well, it goes with the saying "go big or go home" I kinda had to go home though...

...F*cking Boring! 8hrs of extreme boredom, dropping 4 axles and a tcase off on the way. Unfortunately, during the day, my activities are limited to what's in and around my sister's apartment (people watching (if I see hot chicks, Ill try to snap pics :brows: ), TV, and surfing the net from my cell phone. I will be able to post in the evening and night, when my sister's laptop is around, but otherwise, its a real PITA to do from my cell phone. I had to make an emergency almost last minute trip down here to help my sister out as her YJ's rear end started grinding and stuff really bad, so I hooked the trailer up to the WJ, and headed out. I'll be here all week, and back to my more normal routine hopefully next week. I'll try to keep myself updated with the world of Comanche's as much as possible, and should be online on the messenger systems at night... Just so everyone knows I didnt die yesterday or anything... ;)

You can also rig it up to be a cable actuated unit, very reliable.

RE 5.5" w/ drop brackets
rockhardzj replied to MWinland's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Not offended, It will give me more encouragement, just won't be able to say I was "the first" any more. Thats OK though, my truck will be a first when its done, not my current, but the next project will be with the interior and stuff... :D -
CV axles are perfectly fine if your just taking a light trail to a campsite. once you get into more difficult offroading, they become less of a desired item. But they are great for daily driving, winter driving and such. Disconnect axles, I'd personally avoid at all costs adds more things that can go wrong.
