So my fuel pressure when running is 32 and when i shut the truck off it goes to 39. Then after 35 minutes the pressure goes to zero. I know the pressure should hold for at least an hour so its possible i have leaking fuel injector(s). I might take them off and ultrasonically clean them at my work and see what that does -

This has been a very long thread post haha Yes I have a new O2 and the TPS is adjusted and the throttle body is clean. All new manifold bolts as well. -

All righty. Back with results. Sorry for the wait. Gas pressure is 31 with vacuum and 40 without vacuum which is good. I also have 20 hg of vacuum. So good numbers. My idle seems to be a lot better for some reason. I didnt much after all my electrical work and it kinda just went away. Id say the idle is still a little low but ill take a video and post it later! -
Several Electrical Problems
1989 Eliminator replied to Bricker's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Okay well to test the fuseable links, take a multimeter and set it on ohms or continutity and probe across the link. If you get an infinite reading in ohms or a no continunity reading then the link is broken. There are actully quite a few near the solenoid and relays. -

There are also a bunch of fuseable links by the solenoid that you should check. -

Well. I would either assume the alternator is fried or the ignition solenoid because that is where current is being fed. The arcing was due to the alternator producing current and arcing to ground (the hood). So id check to see if the alternator is doing anything first. -
random loose connections?
1989 Eliminator replied to badazzelanore's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I do not think the injector wire connections look like that and the idle speed motor is a male connector not a female. At least on my 89 renix straight six. I am putting my money on that they both go to the TPS -

1989 Eliminator replied to badazzelanore's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The both look like they go to the TPS. The TPS has two connectors for it. The square connector is for the transmission side of the TPS and the straight three prong connector is for the engine ECU side of the TPS. That is what it looks like to me. -
Yes they are stock 15" rims and I'm still tryin to find the best deal for 32's. And no i do not want to trim!
-
Could it be that you need to backflush your radiator and heater core? That helped mine a lot.

That sounds like it is the CPS. Crankshaft Position Sensor. There are no other common wires for the CPS. The CPS works by magnetism and sends a signal to the ECU. The CPS is located on the top, front portion of the transmission and sits in a slot. As the flywheel turns, the CPS picks up high and lows spots that the flywheel has in its deisgn. So if the plug fell down along side the firewall it is still hanging there somewhere. Picture would help!

So I also plan on lifting my MJ 5" with rustys suspension kit (Not SOA) and putting 32's on it. From what I'm hearing I will rub a good amount since the 32's would be bigger than 31's. So, should I go with 31's instead? :dunno:

Renix Dead Spot And Idiling Low
1989 Eliminator replied to 1989 Eliminator's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Okay folks. Finally got a hold of a vacuum gauge. At idle I am reading between 16-20 Hg. This fluctuation I think is mainly due to the idle jumping around. But when the idle was "good" and not stumbling in the low rpms, the vacuum was 20 Hg. I wanted to give you guys a gas pressure reading too but I bought the wrong fitting.... Ill have the reading sometime this week! -
You should include #3 since it applies to all jeep models. Its always a good idea to clean relays and connectors. I did the same with mine.

I cannot hear a leak and I recently had a crack welded on the ext mani. Obviously replaced the gasket and the bolts are all new and tight -

After doing all that I have done, after warming up the idle is fairly steady. It varies a little still but not as bad after a cold start. After a cold start the idle hunts a lot and wants to stall. -

I really do not think it is a fuel issue. But I am installing a fuel pressure gauge on my fuel rail sometime this week to see what my actually readings are. I also am trying to get ahold of a vacuum pressure gauge so I can also get values for vacuum at idle. By the way.... 100 post mark! :jump: :typing: -
