  1. haha, yeah but he's running with more articulation than you so I guess I expect his to be cut out ginormously....
  2. dumb question, but is that much trim absolutely needed to run 33's on a 6 inch lift? I ask because I will have a 6.5" in with 33's tucked in there, and now I'm concerned.....maybe I will decide on putting my TJ flares on....
  3. you read too much harry potter.... sadly, I haven't got much to say for myself as I just read the new book in less than 36 hours, having worked 16 of those and slept a further 8 of them. the 89 suffered this weeked. :P hey, what tires are on that manche? that's almost EXACTLY where the 89 will end up...so I think you've decided that my rear will HAVE to be SOA.
  4. rockhard... you're a nutter if you are of the opinion that Ford interiors and comfort are superior to those of ANY other vehicle. man, talk about a hard ride, and poor design. they feel like a work truck, they look like a work truck, yet sadly, they don't uphold to the qualities of a worktruck. y'all should buy a lil vw caddy..now THATS comfort :brows:
  5. It's a replica, not intended for ACTUAL racing. guy made it to mock some actual racer's truck. alot of time and $$$ are invested in it.
  6. the rear flares were custom built to match the fronts from what I gathered talking to the p.o. at a car show. can't remember if they're fiberglass or not :( I'll look for the photos on my dad's computer.
  7. thanks, but you trumped me with the black interior (still not finished btw) no clue what it came off of??? a bronco or something....it was just laying there, and was $20, so I couldn't pass it up. whatever it was on was a 5 on 5.5 bolt pattern.
  8. p.s. the info would include name, number in your party, vehicle you are taking, where you plan on staying, and emergency contact. I will find out a meeting time from Wade for saturday morning. I'll be there round 6pm at the campsite with Joe, my dad, and my bro so if anyone wants to meet up with us...
  9. pm all that to me and I will get it together over the next week...that way it's done. so ANYONE who is going, or contemplating going, send me your info, and your email address, and I'll type it up and send it to your email address.
  10. that is single-handedly the cleanest, most awesome cheromanche conversion I have ever seen. welcome, and please, more info on BOTH of them!
  11. that would be nice and thank you type in relay diagram on google, click images. first one that pops up will tell you which spot is for what... it takes about 30 seconds to do, much easier than drawing a diagram and scanning and sending it.
  12. so I was at the junkyard today....picking up a snowmobile for my dad actually...and came home with a few other things. note the snowmobile is half the size of my truck... grabbed these things... consists of.... 1 nice fuel tank door to match the red truck (replace rusty one) 1 blue chime module (door open, key in chime) all fuses and modules from the fuse box 1 cruise control upper cable and speed sensor 1 4.0 gauge cluster (gonna 4.0 the gauges in the 3800) a swing out tire carrier...application unknown an ORIGINAL comanche shortbed bedmat. all for $40, snowmobile was $150 I'm debating on the tire carrier...it needs to be lower, and will need some fab work to fit, but I think I like it. have to re-do the bolt pattern from a 5.5 to a 4.5 pattern tho.. already installed the cruise stuff in the 3800, to have the cruise computer fry...so I put the one out of the 89 in it and now it works. put that back in the 89 tho and I'll grab a good computer from the jy next week.
  13. I especially like the painted turbines :D
  14. your thinking is flawed...ALL of the jeeps will have had their fuel tanks pulled out, at least if the salvage yard is in code. they have to remove fuel tanks to keep the cars there...
  15. that's right, everyone LOOK! I PUT DIRTY IN HIS PLACE!!!! :P j/k. I think it looks good, but it's not a show truck by far....it has the potential to be a show truck though, if I do a better job with paint than I have been so far...:P
  16. So I got to work on it today. the passenger side rocker is completely installed, just needs a couple more spot welds and also the replacement part of the cab corner needs installed/smoothed then repainted. painted bottom edge of truck black, cause I got sick of body work. it looks good. the flares will be black as well. driver's side not ready yet... and my lift coils and trackbar arrived as well. the control arms arrive on monday, then I can re-make them and get the front lift in. I'm making my own swaybar discos, and simply relocating the stock brake lines lower for now at least. think I'm gonna have to SOA the rear...but I may just fab some shackles to work for now, I don't have much time before the badlands trip and it just needs to function for that, not be perfect. especially since it will be on 31's there...
  17. I wonder if y'all know that the raised C section is SPOT WELDED over the floorpan...??? you can make one easy, but remember to remove the one (or what's left of it) before installing the floorpan.
  18. I got an MJ cause all my dad ever drove was jeeps. he drove j-trucks (9 passed through him I believe), and then he got his 86 renault diesel comanche, and sold the last j-truck. I liked it enough, but wasn't hooked...yet. stumbled across mine (MJ3800) in a field. was driving by on the road, and saw it behind a cornshed...could only see the cab vents cause of the grass growing around it, and sure enough, an MJ. got it for $300. complete with tranny in the bed, only 66,000 original miles, and a rebuilt motor already installed. almost no rust was present either...now $6800 later, you see what I have :D no more 2.8! aaaaand I've owned in the realms of 7 or 8 other comanches, most for parts, a few others for wheeling or that passed through me.
  19. post me a pic or send it please. top of motor, and any angles of the motor. typically the cooling spot is a small screw located at the top of the engine...7/16 or so. then you need an adapter to hook it to the hose. I will tell you, check compression, if it is good, then check spark. if that is good, commence cleaning the carb, fuel pump, and replacing the fuel filters (the two in the tank and one in-line). replace any bad fuel lines, and she should start right up. you can run it about 15 sec. and then shut it down, that's enough time to reve her up and see if it's running right.
  20. oooh i didn't think of that, thanks. mine on the 89 leaks but I couldn't find the leak for the life of me...
  21. the wheel arches are only replaceable via homebrew panels, or direct replacements off of another comanche in the junkyard. the 2wd cherokee rear arches will work as well, but only the upper 1/3 which is what you need. they fit spectacularly, BUT you will have to redrill the holes. check 89eliminator's project thread, he did that exact replacement.
  22. also bare in mind that the 95 is a high output motor and thus has differences in wiring and ignition system, plus intake and exhaust. it will all bolt into your comanche, and run in there...but you can't swap say the HO computer to your 88 (renix) 4.0 tranny will swap, the flexplate won't swap due to ignition differences (flexplate is flywheel), front axle will swap, front driveshaft and 4x4 linkages will swap. you will, as stated, need only the rear driveshaft, AND to make sure that your front and rear axle gear ratios are the same...or 4wd won't work.
  23. this trip is 89eliminator's baby. but If he wants help, I'll help him as well...I'll even organize a document of phone numbers, names, rigs, and places you are staying, plus where you are from. if he wants that is.
  24. uh....yeah, but they also just chop it to hell :P I think he wants his trailer to resemble a comanche bed, rather than one that was pieced together...
