the "new" gladiator concept looks nice... but at heart it's really one giant piece of $#!&. i don't want a fullsize truck powered by a f*ing 2.8 (that means no small engines) and based off a long structurally unsound frame.
-
NO 2.8 is worth that. safe to say, a 2.8 comanche deserves to be FREE !

Had my first death wobble this morning

the 3800 does this. it's a contribution of bad trackbar, and I think bad driver's side UCA bushings. -
Adding an electric fan
JeepcoMJ replied to 90PioSport99's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
honestly, I'd do the relay. it works better. then, i wouldn't do dual electrics...the electric fan will put out nowhere near the power of the mechanical one. aaaand there are stock ones available. -
summer badlands meet? now official!
JeepcoMJ replied to 89eliminator's topic in Adventure Planning / Regional Groups
maaaaannnn I wish I were there now... I'll have the 89 done here within the next week and a half I think...just gotta get motivated enough to drop the tranny 1" then weld axle, etc. -
Fuel Pump diff between 87-91
JeepcoMJ replied to JOMJ87's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
there's a difference in pressure, but the 2.5 had a former TBI and he's going MPI, so your info will help as i was explaining the exact same thing -
I think she just meant the front axle disco was disconnecting and then she wasn't getting traction from the passenger side tire...which would be a problem.
-
ha, well they're both complete. sorry it was dark so no pics. what's a 14 bolt worth? I'm keeping the front 60 for now as I have a rig available to become a truggy. I want a 60 rear. I also got a 58-ish willy's grille, and a brand new set of rear e-brake cables for a longbed comanche from the guy for free he has an old complete FC with a functioning willy's hydraulic plow, and some dana 205 divorced t-cases that he doesn't want (hence I'm grabbing them) plus a 340 and tranny for it that are set up for racing etc. the guy is a blacksmith as a hobby...builds swords and armour and the like. interesting fellow.
-
yea, he didn't respond to my question about it... I will go ahead and say it, IF you have a problem with it, you CAN tell him and he really would have to pay for that picture...:P how was the trip?
-
hohoho wicked hood man. and this is for your kid right? f* that that should be YOUR rig...!
-
well, when I see it, we'll figure out what to do with it :P
-
or make it into a manual disconnect via a cable system.
-
what years had it, what years didnt? my 89 has a hp dana 30 front with a vac. disco...
-
*shrug* at the price of steel...well, free is good for me.

Yeah I know, but I thought this way, I left a easy way to steer it. Once it's at the paint shop, the steering box, axles and suspension will be coming off. why take the axles/suspension off? ...you should only have to paint the body and then undercoat underneath...
-
I suggest that you straighten out the cab at the very least...there are plenty of us on here who have parts manches with good cabs, so with some nice body work you could replace the dented sections. the bed didn't look too bad, but them are available too... so there's a white one and a grey one? according to your pics at least...
-
haha, paul you will now have to center the steering column up into the connecter between the firewall and steering box. shoulda disconnected it down at the steering box, there's only 1 way it can go down there.
-
guy I'm talkin too and tradin parts around with is GIVING me a 14 bolt complete end to end with all the new gaskets/seals for it included. it just needs to be put back together. the axleshafts are at his cabin but i get them too. so what should I do with it? I'm thinking I need another vehicle to build. hmm truggy time? he has a dana 60 front he'd give me for some of my random parts so he can build a rat rod.

Fuel Pump diff between 87-91
JeepcoMJ replied to JOMJ87's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
xj is in the front upper side, comanche is the right upper side. and I will explain further for your better understanding. in a manche tank, you HAVE to use the main part of the pump assembly. however, I believe that you can swap out the PUMP ITSELF into the comanche "pump carrier" which is the piece that plugs into the tank. cherokee/comanche sending units are NOT interchangeable, neither are the tanks. -

JeepcoMJ replied to JOMJ87's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
cherokee tanks aren't interchangeable with comanches. not even near the same dimensions. BUT i think you could combine the cherokee and comanche pumps to make one that would function with your truck. they're the same dimensions about, just different pressures. -
you'd need to provision bolt holes at the bleeder valve hole for the slave cylinder, somehow build a pressure plate and throwout bearing assembly plus a pivot point for it to work in there, that would work with your 4.0 clutch... it could be done, but when external slave bellhousings and assemblies ARE available...well, it's just not worth it. it's a project I wouldn't bother with and I have full access to a machine shop and a friend who can weld aluminum for free...
-
it has been, but I thought he got the decals local. we'll find out when he gets back from the badlands
-
yes. parts list is; post-94 external slave bellhousing. slave cylinder clutch fluid line pressure plate for correct application. clutch. you can't convert an internal slave to an external slave without machine-work.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... :middle:us cause that sure as hell is YOUR truck.

aaaand one thing spence. can you make the pioneer shortbed decals in black, with black lettering? I'm thinking charcoal grey on my 89 with completely black decals and black jeep lettering on the tailgate...
