I rekeyed the door locks and glovebox lock on my comanche to work with my 94 steering column...a few hours of time, and 3 sets of locks, made it work. i needed multiple sets so that I could pull the pins from them and switch the correct ones in to make them work. good thing those are scrap items to my jy guy. repinning the glovebox lock isn't hard. repinning the cylinders is moreso because you have to peel the "cap" off the cylinders, and crimp it back on. you also have to compress the pins equally so you can remove the pin carrier thing from the cylinder. after that, a needlenose pulls the pins out, and pops them back in. cheapest way, and it worked. worse that could happen is you just use the older lock cylinders in the newer doors, and swap to the older column. oh btw...if your new column is similar to your old one (i.e. no airbag) it's late 95 and earlier. 96 was airbag and completely different.

Tecnique vinyl dye (in a spray can) from NAPA is the only product that I will use. you'll have to use alcohol wipes to clear all the bad paint off before you can repaint, but it will adhere very nicely. -
so, I've discovered that factory rollbars DID have frame tie-in mounts on them beneath the bed. in lou of that, I get a nice chance at taking measurements and copying a set. I'm doing a 4wd swap on a guy's 91 sb comanche in the next couple weeks (finally...) and it's equipped with an extremely nice factory rollbar. he's allowing me to take out the rollbar and make a copy of the brackets. at that point I will also take measurements (perhaps even trace out) the exact dimensions of the rollbar for everyone on the club. anyone interested in the measurements? also, i could probably make the tie-ins on a small scale, or at least give you all measurements of them.

yeah. at least all this work payed off. sold next day :D

ah. back do DD duty as of today. i'm just gonna buy a set of RC 6.5" adjustable control arms (uppers and lowers) to go with the rest of the lift...that will save time and get it lifted now while i build my longarm kit. plus, i've probably got my 33x12.50 dayton timberlines traded for a set of 32x11.50 goodyear wrangler MTR's...yay. wheeling tires. now to get some 33's for street tires...cause at 6.5" of lift it's gonna look funny with 32's. today i'll register it in my name (first driven when i was under 18 so it's in the rent's name right now), insure it, drop the toolbox and bedliner back in, and clean her up a bit. stoked. so plans in the very near future; 6.5" RC coils, trackbar, Adj UCA and LCA, SOA rear with my dana 44 4.09 geared, 4.11 geared dana 30 front. rollbar, removable spare tire carrier, and new subwoofer (mine's cracked). also have the OBA about ready to bolt in...just need an unloader valve and a regulator now. stoked!

Replacement bed liner - what fits?
JeepcoMJ replied to robfg67's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
:D be like me and keep your spray-in, then bolt a rollbar in. if it comes apart, the rollbar will keep it in :brows: -
lol. congrats to everyone with a child here...we've got quite a few new parents or soon to be parents here. now, heaven forbid I actually end up having kids...can you imagine those little terrors? (i want a daughter too...and you'll hate me, but her first car will probably be a girly colored comanche. only one at her school...20 years from now. it'll be like if i drove a 71 challenger in h.s. just sweet )

Project Budget Trail Mj. *New Pics*
JeepcoMJ replied to Galford's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
I HAVE done the 2.5 to 4.0 swap on my current Comanche few years ago and if you use a Comanche donor, you DON'T need to change any wiring inside the cab.You ONLY need the under hood harness. I know that for a fact as I have done the swap. (If you use a XJ donor it may be different?) You just unplug the old harness at the connector plug in the new one and everything works. we need a tech page on this. i guarantee you a 4.0 harnes doesn't work with anything 1986 and prior, and i'm almost certain 87 is also different pinouts on the bulkhead connector. what did you use (years) with what year 2.5 interior harness? everyone needs to know the interchange. -
haha. don't take this the wrong way but... congrats on the knockup. boy or girl?

yea...my one full day off this week too. you'd think i have better things to do :P ah well, i DO love workin on jeeps. keeps me nice and broke and thus out of trouble.

lol. none of this really cost me any money, just time. and time invested on this, gets higher value out of the car.

when you start a project that's going to be simple, and it turns into a whole conglomerate of different things. this morning, i tore everything aftermarket off my cherokee, so i can sell it and not lose the parts (tube bumper, roof rack, subwoofer/amp) since they won't make much difference to the value of the vehicle anyways. Image Not Found anyways. start doing that. well, the thing HAD tow hook brackets at one point. the main piece is gone, but i've got another set...i want to make a main piece and just use this bracketry on it. well, to get one piece out, the steering box has to be removed. to do that, the radiator support has to be removed, and radiator has to be removed. Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found well, while doing this with trying NOT to drop the radiator out, i located a leak from the water pump. damnit, i just replaced that. ah well it's fine, but the gasket was shot. so i replaced that. i hate cooling systems. then, my rear brakes needed adjusted. so i got to work on that. went to it, got everything properly adjusted. stepped on the pedal, blew the right hand line going into the drum. damn. well, while fixing that, the damn bleeder wouldn't come out...took the brakes apart and pulled the wheel cylinder, rebuilt it after heating it to remove the bleeder. put it all together, went to bleed it. got it there.... then the OTHER line blew out *sigh* fixed that...same thing. went to mount the stock chrome front bumper damn clips broke. *sigh* replaced those, got her going again. *shrug* needed to vent. that was quite the ordeal....but now the thing is ready to sale.

Replacement bed liner - what fits?
JeepcoMJ replied to robfg67's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
as far as i can tell.an mj bedliner fits an mj.no others will fit right. dodge dakota, early chevy s10, and one or two different yotas have similar measurements. -
mfpdm, i'm takin apart a cherokee leaf set today to add the main leaf as an overload leaf to my cherokee, so pm me if you need the little nylon pieces...i'll send them your way.

The other Chief (Getting it ready for paint)
JeepcoMJ replied to 1999MJ's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Great job on the flares. Your rig looks very good. I've always liked the Chief hood decals. They look super in black on your white truck. Been looking for a complete set of these hood decals for a long time. Stupid question, but anyone have some laying around?? Or know of a source for repros? When I get my friend to remake the decals for me I can se if he will do an extra set of hood decals for you if your interested. count me in? I'll pay....i'd like those decals on my mj -
nope. what they are is a more confident team with a longer future, without all the "mmm....well i think i may retire now...nah...waiiiittt.....hmmm. yeah, i'm retiring. FOOLED YA i'm back..nah, i'll retire now. it's a bunch of crap. you think you could get away with it at your job? nope. favre is a GREAT player, a legend, and a god. but damn man, there's only so much we can take...and his team needs to NOT be mislead. that leads to confusion and ill will...not exactly the best thing for a team
-
well that's just dandy. it's still wrong, because they don't work. nice guys ;) , but while i am a bit wired up (not on dew actually...just wired), i jump on things i know. and i do know that 2 door xj rear flares don't work. they're around 4" too short
-
no, he had a GREAT last year. it wasn't a fluke at all, but I don't want to see a relapse into the two $#!&ty years he had before that. THAT was when he and his recievers didn't work well, his blockers didn't keep him from getting hurt, and the team as a whole played like crap. in light of that, i want him to go out with a bang. i want to remember who he was. and so does he. he's not an old fart yet. but he's played well beyond the realm of most football players, much less quarterbacks I'm  i know. and yes, wahoo...hittin 21 in april. can't celebrate though, which sucks :headpop:

2 door Cherokees interchange two door cherokee doors DO NOT interchange. fact. they are 9" longer

I prefer parking where only one side of my vehicle is open to idiots...i.e. the other side, doesn't have a parking spot. generally a good way to go.
-
and rear door handles plus interior rear door handles. and bottle jack.
-
oh god i hope not. he should be restricted. he's not being a fair team player by doing what he's been doing...yes, or no. no iffy decisions.
-
yes there is.... the gas caps :D gah and lug nuts, brakes (if your axle is the same), gears, driveshaft yoke, transfercase, spare tire.... lol
