  1. yeah. 4 people now :D correy you in? tim? we can make this a wrench-a-thon. donations accepted for the Beaterjeep Foundation :D
  2. uhm...??? were I the owner, I would make a roof halo and mount it to the pinch welds up front, and the front of the rollbar, and use it as a roof rack. that would make the rollbar itself acceptable...
  3. :P we have about 3 people and I've torn apart all of these engine combinations before. it's just a matter of dropping it. good to know it can be done in that time frame. I'm sure we'll get it done somewhere around that time frame.
  4. men. now's your chance to buy a RARE 1986 jeep comanche with the 96 camaro 3.8 engine option package. 10 years ahead of it's time, this true gem is worth upwards of 25,000 dollars. but if you act now, you can have it for a nominal fee of JUST $17,573.28! THAT'S RIGHT!!!!!! $17,573.28! own yours TODAY!
  5. don't do ebay, it will make the news and people will hate you. I would actually LIKE to have that if you get sick of looking at it. I appreciate it for a peace symbol and it's very cool from an artistic standpoint.
  6. those of you who have done the swap, from an 86 2.8 v6 to a 4.0 straight 6, how much time was involved in it? we're putting a 4.0 into beaterjeeps 86 2.8 auto. it's from a 1990 xj that I have. we're doing engine, tranny, wiring, accessories, cooling swap. also some interior swap but no biggy there. i know what's involved in it...just kinda want your ETA on how long it took. few factors that will play into it for me; engine will already be resealed and painted. tranny will be resealed/cleaned accessories will be cleaned the 5 or 6 wires needing splicing aren't a big deal i have both driveshafts already his truck will be torn down to basics (just dash) inside waaay before the swap. so, it's gonna be a gut and drop deal. also, did the 4.0 motor mount plates bolt right into the 86 engine bay? i don't care about the fabled firewall change...i will make that work. I also have the new radiator supports ready to go so it will be a matter of chop and drop for that. also a new hood is ready for the truck too.
  7. you've opened a whole new world for me. enjoy this
  8. the swastica was originally a pieace symbol, so if you take it for what it is and non-tainted then you would not see the hate that symbol has brought in it's time.
  9. if you haven't switched the speedo gear, you have no idea what kind of mileage you're getting. it's probably better than you thought.
  10. I'd like to wheel on sunday as well. I'm not going to be with menards too much longer, and though I still have 2 jobs, they will both give me the time off that I want.
  11. you're coming regardless of what shape the 86 is in :P and no arguing. anyways thought I'd make it official july 18, 19, and 20 of 2008. that's a friday, saturday, and sunday. I'll be leaving friday between 10 and noon (along with Joe i'm sure), and heading back late sunday or early monday morning. -Pat
  12. 3.55 31x10.50 22-23mpg. ohhhhh that's right. i'm rockin a 3800 camaro motor with a 5 speed... :P can't wait for 33's and 4.10 gears. gas mileage will go through the roof. edit: I did get 24.5 mpg on a tank once...but it was completely interstate driving except for the on ramp and exit ramp. :D gas to badlands won't kill me that's for sure
  13. we just pulled that bolt on one of TNT's cherokees. you CAN get it to come out, but you're going to dent up the oil filter. support the motor, punch the bolt through, then you should be able to pull it out while working it at an angle. hope that helps
  14. hahaha...oooohhhhh that was FUN   now again in 5 hours...
  15. the longest one will go to the coil, second longest to cylinder one, then cylinder 3 will be the third longest, cylinder 4 the second longest, and cylinder 2 is the shortest plug wire (firing order is 1,3,4,2)
  16. I agree. it's not affected by tire size...center of hub to bottom of fender flare doesn't inlcude tire size.
  17. nice MJ :D
  18. how much "drop" are those blocks for? beaterjeep and I are dropping his 88 in march so we'd like to know.
  19. clutch now works with the rebuilt slave cylinder. $17.30 for a rebuild kit. master leaks a bit, but not too terrible yet. flexed her out a bit :P Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found she flexes a bit much in the rear....:P love it. can't wait to get the 6.5" lift with 33" tires on her.
  20. tonight, i start a 4 week night remodel with menards. sunday nights 7pm-7am monday. tuesday-thursday nights, 9pm to 7am following day. this is gonna suck, but the money will be good. wish me luck.
  21. if the clutch feels normal and there's no noise when depressed, then the clutch is fine. your symptom is similar to when my 86 mj blew up a front layshaft bearing, which wrecked most of the transmission in the 1 mile drive home. i replaced it. major thing here. you either have an ax15, or a ba10/5. if it was replaced, it could be either. if it was replaced with one from the same year, it's an ax15. ax5 is literally not possible to put behind a 4.0 unless someone very stupid spent some time building a bellhousing and clutch system for it. is it 4wd? check your transfercase as well. the best thing you can do is drain the transfercase and transmission (into seperate drain pans) and look at the fluid to see if there is any metal shavings inside. seperate pans so you can tell exactly where it came from.
  22. holy terrible engineering batman @$$hat can no longer go through ANY mud, cannot bottom out the rear. also "cold air" intake is picking up heat from the exhaust ALL THE WAY up to the engine bay, and downsized intake tube means less air intake. I award him no points, and may god have mercy on his soul.
  23. the problem is the flange is that much further...shortening the output shaft won't work.
  24. aw4 uses a short input with 21 spline, you'll be OK. I'm pulling mine off of a 90 aw4.
  25. ah, i'm running sand in the blaster...don't recall which, we've just been using the same sand for a few years..
