lifting her this weekend...hopefully I can get the whole thing done. just some pics of the UCA's i'm building I need to chop the uppers down, then put the lower threaded inserts into a section of pipe and weld them up, then trim down the C-channel (it's 2" ID square tubing with a side cut off) and weld that up too. the LCA's are also home-built. stock bushings on the body-side just like the uppers, with a set of RE superflex 550 joints on the bottoms anyways, I'm hoping to have it together and maybe road-worthy by the badlands trip...though I won't be able to make it down there :(

thanks guys...this is the paint scheme I'm thinking of on my 87 short bed once I get around to painting it (I'll paint the front end parts on spare parts and just swap them out, and the box wouldn't be too bad to do actually...

oh. lol... mine is 757 and when I first registered under Jeepcom1 (forgot the password... ) more than a year prior, it was 357

so what are the laws on black and white paint? specifically, painting a vehicle to look similar to a cop car i'm thinking black fenders, header panel, main cab up to the drip rails, and bedsides, with white doors roof hood and tailgate as well as bedrails. it would say COMANCHE across the top edge of the front fenders, and CHIEF on the top forward edge of the bedside (similar to the eliminator decals) then it would have my number as a club member on the rear upper portion of the bedside on each side as well (my number is 757) and I'd set it up with winches forward and back. what do you think?

lift kit and 4wd with larger tires. then a 3.8 camaro engine

the covers are interchangeable as long as the seat is the same style...you'd just need to cut a slit in it for the handle. the framework is different between 4dr and 2dr seats though, as one has hinges and one obviously does not. shipping for the complete seat minus pedistal is less than $60 for the pair, at least from mfpdm's place to mine (I've bought two sets of black seats from him...) just fold them up, box them with the headrest removed and put between the base and the back, and send 'em out. don't forget the seat belts for buckets are different than those from bench

you're letting your son drive this?!?!??!! wow. it is BEAUTIFUL. just absolutely perfectly meticulously well built...I can't wait to see her done, and i cannot believe you haven't commandered it for yourself yet... :brows:

Waterpump pulley clearance...
JeepcoMJ replied to DirtyComanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
i just ran through this issue with a 95 xj...put a 95 ZJ motor in and the pumps are definitely different... they LOOK identical, but are mere centimeters different. -
I have a whole axle beam with rotors and good ball joints for him

haha, i was just thinking along those lines. :brows: sucks though man least you've still got something to drive are you EFFING KIDDING ME? i don't have ANYTHING to drive. at all. sorry, i know that's over-reacting, but I'm SOOOOOO sick of all of this. i don't have any car/jeep right now, and even my darned bicycle broke. i didn't get the 87 comanche even started, at all, because of a stupid 95 xj 4.0 I've been building for a friend's cherokee...i have 90 hours into a 4.0 build and swap, because the @$$hats who put the previous motor in, used a mix of 91-95 parts and neither of us knew that...so i've had the motor out then in then back out and back in. it finally runs, and I'm driving it for the next couple days...hopefully I can con him into letting me drive it for the break-in period, or loaning me his saturn while he drives this. i don't have time this weekend to work on my own projects because i have to move stuff home from a different club member's shop since he's closing down.

i give up now. no more jeep crap for the time being...i'm just sick of it. i'm going to try and buy a small import.

unfortunately, when you're on permanent disability and your budget is QUITE restricted, you cannot always 100% maintain your vehicle. I'M glad no one got hurt, and glad that the MJ is just fine. and Joe, I should have a front axle complete with good brakes by the badlands trip (which I myself am about 90% sure i'm not gonna make it...I'm sick of jeeps entirely, I do not want to work on anything this weekend, and am not going to FORCE myself to do stuff so I can go broke having "fun" in a vehicle that I haven't even driven a full week)
-
drained oil, likely motor is junk...lots of metal shavings (not bearing shavings either...)
-
nope, not bad at all. i need a small car though... yes you do. i just filled my car up yesterday. $36 and it was past "E". Way better than the $68 that my truck got... lmao...yeah.

lol...I don't have any $$$ to buy anything...but if I did, I wouldn't be buying another jeep to be honest. thanks Pete, that's exactly how I am thinking of it. it's going to the sidelines while I'm building my other comanche, and while I pay for school, and get a small car as a DD. so, it probably won't be done until next summer at the earliest...

that's pretty much the idea. at the moment, I want to put a 3.8 supercharged v6 in it, with the jeep 2500 front end, 97+ doors and interior, and TJ 6 speed transmission with NP242 transfercase. so, I'm strippin it out unless I think I can rebuild the motor for cheap-ish...

so, this is a bad week. friday; rear left wheel falls off 3800 so I swap the axle for a dana 44 and new brakes and everything in the rear tuesday; spun bearings in the motor...rendered un-driveable other things that need to be done on the 3800; replace bent front axle replace leaking tranny/upgrade to 6 speed from TJ rebuild driveshafts new control arms+bushings replace very small chunk of floor rebuild cab corners replace driver's side bedside replace hood update front clip to 2500 setup new tie rod ends new rear bumper the thing is pretty much junk. ever since the accident, it's been falling apart... I also have no internet at my house, because some stupid changes were made to how it's routed through the phone lines, and I'm at work while the tech hours are. :hateputers: :headpop:

motor spun a few bearings, at least. it's running low compression and low oil pressure, and leaking coolant. the oil level is full and it idles fine, but any rev above 1500 RPM results in alot of clanking etc. i'm not even mad...the motor was getting replaced anyways with a 2001 series 3 3800 supercharged, that will be bored .030 over and running a slightly lower compression ratio than stock, with a smaller pulley on an Eaton M90 supercharger. i don't know what caused the bearings to spin, but I've had the feeling for awhile that this was going to happen, and last oil change I got some scraps from bearings so it wasn't a big surprise...i just was hoping to make it another few weeks until the other truck is done. but, I'm not having a good time with this truck...fix one problem, on to the next. so answer is, yes, I am giving up. ...for now.

motor blew.

87 MJ 4.0 auto running issues...loose dizzy? FIXED
JeepcoMJ replied to JeepcoMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
exactly what happened to me...idled perfect...ran like piss above 1500RPM....glad ya fixed it 8) me too. I'm dropping a 4.0 into an xj on saturday morning, then beginning to lift this thing saturday afternoon...i need to get in at least a couple weeks driving before i go down to the badlands with it, so even if I don't get the 4wd tranny in it until the following weekend, I'll be driving it. -
lol. ok, if you are putting an automatic transmission (aw4) and 4.0 in it, then a swb driveshaft may work...depending on what rear axle you have.
