HUH? The movement described is called "tierod roll" and should not be happening at all. Your steering will be sloppy, and it can even lead to death wobble. The tierod should not twist, you want it as tight (won't twist) as you can get it. The movement needed is in the TRE (tie rod end), but if your able to twist the tierod itself than their are greater issues at hand. Doesn't sound like thats what your talking about. Sounds like you clearly stated they should not twist. And that is wrong. They will twist due to the ball and socket design of the TRE.

The twisting movement is normal due to the design.

I am guessing you are refering to the key tumbler. I just changed mine the easiest way I have found is to remove the door panel and reach up to it with a pair of channel locks and just wiggle it loose. Sometimes they can be stuborn but this is the easiest way I know of and you can reinstall them the same way.

Spent the morning at the Junkyard. Got a switch for my cargo light and an extra cargo light that might be forsale. I also got a full gauge cluster, a center console, some extra tailights (might be for sale), under dash courtesy lights, light for the cigarette lighter ring, short visors with vanity lights, new steering wheel center. There is probably more but I can't think of it right now. I am headed to another junkyard and will post pics later.

Well I made some small progress yesterday. I started off the day removing pinstrips. Here is a during shot. Here is a finished side. I must extend a big thank you to whoever it was that told me about the eraser wheel. Then I installed my "new to me" cargo light. And realized I don't have a switch. :cry: Next I started diagnosing my high idle issue. I pulled the IAC motor and guess what I found....(sorry for the crappy pic) Then I pulled the headliner and wired the cargo light. Sorry no pics of that. And today I started on my overhead console/headliner project. I am chopping a cherokee console and recovering it and the headliner. Here is the cut console. So far that is all I got but I will keep the updates coming. :cheers:

So for those of you that have done this swap is there a noticable difference in the accoustics of the cab? Is it alot louder with the vinyl or about the same?

I think I prefer the 97+ mod over the waggy one. But the waggy one is definatley a close second.
