  1. It's actually a lid to a crate that elevator motors come in...Ita 50ish"x24ish" Hopefully it meets UPS's standards on proper packaging... To fully enclose it, the weight would be too high and shipping rates would go up 4-6 times what they are now/were.
  2. 4x4 screwed to pallet. Mounting plates lag bolted to 4x4. Metal straps over main tube, screwed to pallet. Blocks screwed in around receiver/chain hook. Additional 40 pounds...
  3. That's exactly what I did with the bumper I just shipped. Lag bolted a 2x4 in there. Then wrapped it. I'm just going to screw a 4x4 to a wooden box lid and then use metal pipe hanger and run it over her main tube of the hitch and screw it to the lid. (Got all wood for free)Same over all dimensions as bare hitch. Just adds like 40 pounds. So shipping automatically gets more expensive
  4. It's the box my harbor freight shop press came in lol. And it's actually the hidden winch rear bumper I've been working on. It's going to Kansas.
  5. This is inside here... 2x4 across the mounting plates. Some bubble wrap in there. Fatigue mat pieces on the mounting plates then a log box I had laying around, clear wrap, more cardboard boxes on the ends and 2 rolls of tape.
  6. I'll suggest it one more time........... Weld in a gusset, if it bent that bad being dropped or caught up in shifting freight........imagine what a side load will do when pulling a trailer or being jerked out of a ditch (pulled). With a gusset in place, that would not have bent, or, at least not as badly, nothing that a little mallet would not have straightened out. This is a good point but you also have to realize that about 1/3 of that bracket will be pressed up against the frame so that part won't really have a chance at bending. A gusset of some kind wouldn't hurt though. Krustyballer will have the best knowledge on the feasibility of adding one.I will not be adding a gusset to these. While it's bolted on it shouldn't ever move like that so no need. Customer can add if they feel the need. But if there's that much concern then they probably won't buy from me anyways
  7. Thanks. And I bought a 4x8 "fatigue" mat to cut up and wrap the mount ends with and stuff inside a box. That is probably cheaper than actual packing material. And probably better.
  8. I'll suggest it one more time........... Weld in a gusset, if it bent that bad being dropped or caught up in shifting freight........imagine want a side load will do when pulling a trailer. With a gusset in place, that would not have bent, or, at least not as badly, nothing that a little mallet would not have straightened out. It would just get bent where the gusset stops. And a gusset can't be put in there. Pulling a trailer and dropping it are two totally different things.
  9. There's no greyhound local... and prob not not local for most customers. All seem like good suggestions. I'll try packing the crap out of a box. I'll 2x4 the plates, wrap in cardboard and tape and clear wrap then maybe use 1x4s to fill up the slack in the box then tape the hell out of the outside. Take pictures every time. The sliders are much larger and I guess would just have to be wrapped in cardboard and tape...
  10. I thought about bolting a 2x4 or 4x4 between the plates and trying that...
  11. Latest damage. Coming all the way back from Calgary, Alberta Canadialand The plate is bent outward, which would take a lot of force. And it blows my mind that it's bent outward and not inward like it was dropped like others have been...
  12. So some of you guys have seen I've had problems with my hitches getting bent or the baggie of bolts getting ripped off and lost... I'm trying to figure out the best way to ship them so everything makes it the customer in one piece, undamaged. Right now I ship the hitches, bumpers and sliders without "packaging". The baggie of bolts is wrapped and taped in place, pretty securely. And the the steel part is isn't wrapped or boxed. Weighing between 50-150 pounds... UPS can't give me a clear answer on how to package them to be covered by their process. Which pretty much means UPS will never be liable for damege. And FedEx says it has to be in a box. But a hitch, I think, will just break out of a box. Even if packed tightly. People just throw this stuff around. Both ups and FedEx said a fragile sticker wouldn't do anything. I have boxes on the way to try but we'll see. Still more awkward than the bare hitch so it's still going to get thrown around. So if anybody has any suggestions on this jet me know. It could save your products from getting damaged.
  13. I've heard just as many stories about FedEx as UPS. I know people that work at both. It just comes down to package handlers that "don't get paid" enough so they just throw stuff... Plus FedEx is further away and their discount isn't as good as UPS.
  14. UPDATE! Prices have gone up $15 due to having to package everything better now so UPS doesn't destroy or lose something. Really sucks that I have to do it this way but it's the best way to handle the situation. (I'll update the 1st post soon) Thanks Everyone that I've already gave quotes to, your price won't change.
  15. UPDATE! FIRST POST EDITED. PRICE FOR FULL HITCH HAS GONE UP FROM $190+Shipping to $200+shipping. This is due to UPS not being able to get hitches where they need to go without bending or losing bags of bolts. This extra $10 is for better packaging to hopefully prevent any damage or loss of items. It will benefit both myself and you as a customer. Thanks. If I've already quoted you a price, it will not change.
  16. I love my redone bench seat. It had bucket seats in it when i got it. Hated them. Had my bench seat reupholstered and wouldn't go back to buckets at all. I've fit 3 people in it (myself, 5'9", a very fit girl my age and my dad, 6'3") sucked for her with my 5 speed but it was OK.
  17. Hopefully I'll have it finished in the next week. To make room for the winch, you have to cut out the piece that runs side to side that "Covers" the spare tire in the rear, where the license plate holes are... http://cloud.tapatalk.com/s/58cab98887b1f/IMAG2651.jpg? (The part the winch is hitting in the pic) Winch mounts 180° from how its shown in pic. Bolts on top, upside down
  18. As much as I hate to say it, I could probably put a tire carrier on it... lol
  19. I've got a set of sliders to be built I'd sell at the discounted price. Hitches are back to normal price. Discounted sliders are sold. Everything is back to normal price for now. This is what I've been working on recently...
  20. I've got a set of sliders to be built I'd sell at the discounted price. Hitches are back to normal price.
  21. Little update on how the truck is running... I pulled my 18' car trailer (~1600lbs) today with my CF Moto side by side (1250lbs) on it. About 50℉ out today Mostly flat road, few gradual hills About 15 miles 65mph 2200rpms 15psi boost 1000℉-1250℉ on the pyro gauge Didn't pull too bad.
  22. 24.5" at this body line. Should be able to compare to your long bed.
  23. Finally figured out my "no clutch" problem after almost a month, and a new slave cylinder and new clutch! My clutch pedal was broke! This is after my dad bent it back straight. The pedal arm was bent in almost a 90. It cracked right below the factory weld and when he pushed it down originally, it stayed on the floor but the arm to the master cylinder came back up. It was actually working, just not with the pedal...[emoji58] We warrantied everything out (even though it had been 4 years since I bought it all) So now everything is brand new even though the old stuff was only 17,000 miles old...Yay!
