97-Newer XJ doors on an MJ??
BIGMASS replied to Andy in Pa's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have a spare set of doors so when I do this swap I plan on cutting the latch section out of the parts doors and welding them in to the new doors and using the old latch rods etc. So if yer doors are a rottin, give it a try and let us know :dunno: -
Good 'ol pi r squared 3.5" = cross sectional area of 9.61 square inches 2.25 X2 = cross sectional area of 7.07 square inches for both

That is egzacaree what my 89 was doing. Would idle like a champ, but wouldn't take any revs. I'd deffinately check yer fuel pressure. I don't think the cherokee sending unit will fit in yer tank anyhow, so you might do the swap and have the same prob. From 88 XJ FSM

I wouldn't bank on that. Cat con's contain precious metals. My buddy's pappy owns a small yard and they pull em all before crushing. The guy who comes for them pays by weight. I've got a 2.5" Magnaflow high flow cat. I got it cause it was cheeper than any direct replacement or universal cat I could find anywhere else, and I chose 2.5" cause I knew the muffler I wanted to run wouldn't come in a smaller size (I wanted duals in a bad way). Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found My MPG is a sickly 12.8, and I don't know bout the torque cause I never drove it with what was left of the stock exhaust before the rebuild.

I lube all mating sufaces generously with good ol Vasaline  When engaged the lock ring will move side/side and up/down in the ring land because it is smaller than the land (if that don't make sense its not you its me!!) Play on that . You can just bareley start one tab and leverage the lock ring to squeez the o-ring and start the other 2 tabs. It's trickey but swear at it and it'll go :grrrr:

Project "Black Betty"
BIGMASS replied to shelbyluvv's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
Easy way to tell on Mopes is dist on the back=small block (A/LA) dist on front at an angle=big block (B/RB). Chev's 383 is actually a stroked 350 not a production engine. I got a 400 big block in the shop, same dimentions as the 383, and yer gonna have a fun time fitting that in there!!! definatly gonna be a street sweeper!! Can't wait to see the finished flares on the rear. She looks really good 8) -
I wanted to put it in the centre but I doubt it will go there. Looks like I might have to offset it to one side then stack my 3 amps on the other. It will likelly be a fiberglass box to save space
-
Just stock replacement ones? Price, pics?? :dunno: I also have one of these out of a 90 cutlass. Do you have it wired to come on with the doors?
-
My rears are an actual 4x6. The cone is oblong not round. Infinity makes a direct replacement that'll fit. I've seen them at Future shop. I was planning on buying them cause I got a 15" sub and a Pioneer Class "A" amp to drive it and a buddy gave me two Pioneer 2 channel 80w amps that look identical to the Class "A". I figgured one to powwa my RF Fanaticx component set for the doors, and another for the rears. Um, I like LOUD

At the risk of beeing flamed 1) Tupac 2) Master P (really all of No Limit, especially the old stuff) 3) B.G. aka Baby aka The Birdman aka the Stunner (and most of Cash Money) 4) Faith No More 5) Cannibal Corpse (I'm an old metal head from way back and tho my tast has changed, I still crave the Corpse )

Hot Damn, I like that If I find one Ima gonna strip it!!

Just thought I'd throw this out there. I try to keep up on the tech (even started on page one) and don't think I seen it here yet so... Axle Ratio/Tire Size Calulator 1.1 It uses MPH, so for all you Canadians just click on the flag!! :Canadaflag: Thing I found most helpfull was that it tells you what gears will correct your speedo for larger tires (for me it's another factory ratio )
-
Just throwing out another thought... You could use one leaf out of your new pack to replace the busted one in the old pack, swap out the same leaf in the other pack, and bobsyeruncle. :dunno:
-
Haha, I know a guy who got 4 door seats to replace busted ones in his 2 door cherokee. He never even thought of it untill the old seats were already gone to the dump!! :thwak: Comanche's came with black interior??? Or have you done a colour change, or do you mean the really dark slate grey??? Pleeeeeeeezzztellmetellmetellmetellmetellmetellmetellmetellme!!!

I got a set of rockers from HERE. It has the same catalogue and numbers, so I assume they get thier shtuff from the same stamper. They were total crap. A 40+ year veteran of bodywork attempted to graft them to my truck, and by the time we had one close to fitting it was so hacked up we threw it in the $#!& can. I took the other one back and got a refund on it an a partial on the other, and we built our own for half the price that fit like a charm. Their fenders did fit well, although the line is off a little where it meets the "A" pillar (pic). No biggie. Image Not Found Their front bumper fit good (I shaved the bumperette holes), but their bumper end caps didn't fit as close to the body as the originals. Again, no biggie. Door handles are for the newer (91 up??) style but fit with a little filing on one mounting hole and look good. Floor pans weren't available 4-5 years ago when I started this project (I wish they were), so I can't comment on them. Basically, I'd stay away from the easy to make stuff like rockers, door pannels, cab extentions. Usually you can make them easier than starting with a P.O.S. not to mention a 4x8 sheet of body steel is cheeper than a pair of rockers, and yeilds enough material to do other things you want/need. I've heard good things about Keystone. Good fit, better price, excellent service, but I don't know what they offer for the MJ as they don't have an accesable online cataloge unless you are a dealer.

Call your local junkyard and have them look it up in thier interchange book.

Just an idea...Why not put the spring back together and install in factory configuration (i.e. spring under axle) :dunno:
-
Hey DoggyDog, Nissans used a chain hoist in the Hardbodies.
-
Indeed. But I always use a 32oz ball pien and give er a good whack on the yolk between the shaft and cap. Like this
-
I actually found a good set @ the junkyard  To remove use a piece of 1x2. But it up to the metal trim piece and GENTLY tap it as straight up as you can, WITH THE WINDOW DOWN!!! Once off, use yer favorite flat screwdriver to open the clips just enough to take the window sweep out. While they're out give the trim a coat of flat black, instalation is reverse. 25 bux don't seem bad to me cause I've bought the ones for a 96 Dodge Ram before :ack:

Every one thinks they got a hotrod  Tha sun must carry a shive!!!
