You could always do as I do and just never lock it... :dunno: . I figure if they really want in, they are going to break something to get in and I don't leave anything of "real" value to me in there...so...

My old Compaq from about the same era and model developed similar issues about a year ago...turned out to be a mother board. It's not worth putting much effort or money in to an old computer like that so you may end up doing what I did and buying a new one. If you don't have an external hard drive, get one and back up all your stuff quick before you lose it. The external was a life saver for me and it makes life so much easier in setting up a new computer too.

That can be done, but you have to destroy the stainless or black cover that is on it (the part you see on the outside) in order to do it so you will need a spare to repalce it if you do it that way as you will destroy both the donor and the one being used in the process. I have keyed several of these cylinders and there is no other way to do it.

Yes...the two wheel drive will look like the ones in the big picture with the long cone shape on the rear. The 4WD will look like the smaller pictures with just a flat surface on the back where the t-case bolts up.

Courtesy of Pete...here are examples of both. The BA10/5 is on the right in the big picture. It is much slimmer than the AX-15 and the case splits in half right down the middle from front to back. I have never seen an "ID" plate / tag on them anywhere...you just have to learn what they look like and figure it out ;) . This identification thread is also in the DIY forum... http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/view ... =9&t=11699

If it's an '88, it will be a Peugeot BA10/5. The AX-15 wasn't used in the XJ/MJ's until the later part of '89.

The USPS truck just left my driveway with the load of shirts :clapping: . Let's see how fast Priority Mail is this close to Christmas  . I just got some stuff today that was mailed Priority out of Utah on Monday so it's definitely slowed down as Priority usually gets anywhere in the 48 in 2-3 days.

I had to do a little searching to find it again, but this is the one I used to be sure I got the right stuff... http://www.crucial.com/index.aspx?gclid ... 1219193932

  I was just looking at those pics thinking that I may be about ready to go down from a XXL to a XL. That XXL looks just a little floppy on me and the shoulder seams are hanging down a bit. I have lost 22lbs (so far) so I might be actually starting to see it :clapping: :hijack: my own thread... :shake: :rotfl2:

Yes...it should show 512 if it's working. You either have the problems already stated...or...the new stick you have is not compatible with your system. Did you check to be sure that it is the same "type" of RAM that is installed on your system? The other thing is...512 total is not near enough for todays world. It takes nearly that just to run XP. My laptop had 512 and I just upgraded it to 2gb. I bought 2 1gig sticks on eBay and maxed it out...man what a difference.

Me in mine  Sorry for the poor quality shots, but the flipbook program degrades them for some reason... :hmm: We'll start a "show off your shirt" thread when ya'll start getting them in your hands ;) . Then I'll get better shots of both Tina & I in ours :D Image Not Found

If I ever get back to work and make some money to be able to travel...I'll take you up on that one day

When you say you "checked the relays"...how did you check it / them? Try swapping the fuel pump relay with another one and see what happens. Get a guage and see if you can keep it running long enough to check fuel pressure. If all is good on the fuel side, then I would start to suspect the CPS.

Yes...they work on either side. You may have to flip the little plate on the inside where the rod connects, but that's no big deal.

A job and a nice piece of property / house in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Georgia.

Nothing has gone out yet. All 38 orders will go out today as soon as the carrier gets here to pick them up. I went out to the post office with the first 20 orders yesterday and when I saw the line of people  ...I came back home and got online to schedule a carrier pick-up
-
Since the line at the post office is constantly 30 people long...I decided to have them come pick up. A mail carrier will be coming to the house today to pick them up since i didn't want to contribute to the madness and have someone go "postal" on me for walking it to the post office with 39 packages to go ;) :smart: Yes...that means that nothing has moved yet, but they will all be on the go today, so as I said before..."some" of you will get them before Christmas, but as slow as mail is moving right now, I wouldn't count on a lot of them making it even though I shipped them all Priority Mail.

It's a simple process really... -Remove the CAD cover from the axle. -remove the e-clip holding the shift fork in place. -Slide the shift fork over to the locked position. -out the e-clip back in place to hold the fork in the locked position. -slide the lock ring over to engage the two shafts. -install the CAD so that the fork is back on the ring and holding it in place in the locked position. Should take all of 20 minutes

The AX15 is a much easier swap to do...just be sure you get the correct pilot bushing for the crank shaft.
-
When you say "on the fly", how fast are you going when you try to shift? On the fly with a 231 means slowly rolling and I have never seen one that would shift in to 4WD without grinding (if at all) without the clutch being engaged. Sounds like you are trying to make it do things that it's not intended to do to me. Does it make these noises if you stop, shift in to 4WD and then drive?

2.5l Comanche idle speed motor question
BLHTAZ replied to speedingpenguin's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Sounds like the IAC is staying open. It needs to close to allow the idle to come down...so, is it possible that you are adjusting it in the wrong direction? It could also be a vacuum leak in another area that is causing it as well. Anything connect to the intake that is vacuum related needs to be in good shape as any leak in that area will cause the problem you are having. Even a small leak in the intake manifold gasket will cause this. -
That slight difference in voltage I don't believe would cause that type of problem. Sounds like you need to do a fuel pressure test. How long has it been since the fuel filter was replaced? Also...believe it or not...the ground for the fuel pump is back behind the left tail light and you may want to get in there and check to be sure it is clean and rounded good. These trucks are insanely sensitive to having good grounds.

supercharging__ is it worth it?
BLHTAZ replied to 89sportruck's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
A supercharger will do nothing but destroy an old engine. Do as these guys have suggested and have it stroked  -
It's not hard at all as long as you have the right tools. A decent set of snap ring pliers is a must...although I have done it a couple times without them, they save a lot of grief. If you have access to a lift it can easily be done without even taking the t-case out of the Jeep.
