Well...I am left to believe that he must care some about it as I went by the owners house last night and it is there parked in his driveway. Guess I will casully watch it since he lives only a couple miles from me and hope that he kept my info from the letter and will call one day when he's ready to sell.

Nice... :D Man...I am so glad that i don't have to deal with snow any more ;) That tie down kit is great. I have been thinking about getting that too as I know a couple people that have them and I have seen them. Very easy to use and secure.

Get some of these... Hell Creek Springs. I used them with my 3.5" Rubicon Express kit and they are great. The guy making and selling them is a member on here too. His username is "Hellcreek".

Definitely need to do some dealin'. I bought my '88 for $1000 and it is in great shape. It does have over 180K on it, but that is not that big of a difference for that money. It does look sweet though...good luck to you on it.

If it's not in his driveway when I drive by tonight, I will do just that. It does seem strange to pursue something like this, but is has so much to offer for what could be a very small investment.

I know of at least 6 of us from Florida on here now. As for the injectors...I am still waiting for the confirmation that the site is ready with the discount code, but I will post ASAP when it is set as I have received and responded to a couple PM's about it.

Well...it appears that this one is not going to work out  . The Comanche disappeard from the parking lot sometime on Saturday. I am going to make a trip by the guys house in hopes that he finally took it home and it didn't get towed, but since I have not heard from him or anyone from my notes left on the truck, I guess it's not to be this time.

Replacing the Interior Lights -- (How I did it)
BLHTAZ replied to BLHTAZ's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
Yea...I agree. That forum was not there when I wrote this, but it should be in there now. -
This is a very viable option that I have used personally. I am in the process of setting up a deal with a company that remanufactures these injectors and sells them at an excellent price. He is going to have a special set up for me to pass on to all of my Jeep friends with a discount code to buy these injectors. I can't say what it's going to be yet as he has not confirmed it, but the price that I know he sells them at without the discount is already good. I will be making a special post about it with the info on how to buy them and the discount code for Jeepers as soon as he lets me know...which is supposed to be Monday or Tuesday :D  .

31s with only 2" of lift?
BLHTAZ replied to 500-comanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have found over the years that I have been in this business that most people have no clue what "fit" means. If a tire "fits" a vehicle, it means that it will not rub at any point during full articulation and steering lock to lock. If you can not articulate the suspension to it's max or turn the steering wheel to full lock either way without rubbing...then the tires do not "fit". Too many people think that if they can bolt the wheel on the truck and move it that they have a "fit", but do not realize that this is actually potentially dangerous. Just an FYI to hopefully help make a good, safe decision... -
31s with only 2" of lift?
BLHTAZ replied to 500-comanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
2" is going to be tough. I have a 3.5" RE lift with 31's and it does not rub, but it comes close. I don't believe in lifting a Jeep and then putting bump stops in it...what's the sense in lifting it  ?? You will definitely need longer shocks, but shock have nothing to do with lifting or helping tires to avoid rubbing and I recommend the ProComp ES9000 shocks for good ride ond off road performance combined. If you stay with stock type wheels, you are going to have an issue with rubbing on the control arms, but if you go with aftermarket wheels with more BS it will likely cause them to rub in the fenders. I say just go 3" or 3.5" and make it easy and safe  . -
My letter should get to him today, so we'll see if there is any response. I have a truck & trailer to haul it away on and I have friends in the towing business, so I have some options if needed ;) . The primary reasons that I am wanting this one is for the seats and light bar :D . I am also thinking about swapping the AX15 in to our '88. We talked about taking what is good from it...replacing it with the worn out stuff from the '88 and then making the '92 a trail beater. We have friends that own a business up in Mineral Bluff, GA (just outside Blue Ridge) called Blue Ridge 4x4 and they are only about 30 minutes from Tellico so we may try to take it up there and keep it there to go play with. Damn...this is almost like trying to adopt a child...we (wife included) are going to be completely broken hearted if this doesn't work out :rotfl2: My wife is already talking about what to do with it to make it a good trail machine...

That would be true as I am from PA originally...not far from you either (you may already know that though). He is 59 years old and his name is Jose Rafael Piedra. ;) I got all of his info from his tag...birth date, DL #, address etc, etc... :D

I just had mine done last week. It cost me about $450 parts & labor. I bought the clutch kit on eBay ($140), the slave at the dealership ($93) (where I work), because the slave that came with the kit from eBay was wrong, and I had the rear main and oil pan gasket changed while he was in there. I have the knowledge and ability to do this work myself...just no where to do it so I had to pay, but got a real good deal.

Sounds like alternator time to me. I have used the "NEW" aftermarket starters from Discount and had good luck so far myself. I have not had the need for an alternator yet.

That was what I suggested that you check. Yeah, if it's an '88 you have a short, and it probably is draining the battery. You might start your search with the ignition switch, since that's what SHOULD turn the guage off. The actual switch isn't in the steering column at the key, it's mounted on the base of the steering column. That was going to be my suggestion as the culprit too. I have sold several of those switches for similar issues over the past few years.

Underbed spare carrier.
BLHTAZ replied to joshmillslane's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I did that too... -
Found this MJ just sitting in a shopping center parking lot. I noticed it sittng there when I went to the post office on Christmas eve. It was still there on the 26th so I saw some construction workers doing some remodeling in the shpping center and went to see if anyone knew who it belonged too. They said that it had been there for "several" days now, but nobody knew anything about it. It has a current tag on it so I traced it to the owner and found that he lives right across the street. I went to his house, but no one was home so I have have written and mailed him a letter to try to buy it. It's a bit beat up, but it has a 4.0L, AX15, nice bucket seats, light bar, 124K miles. Here's a few pics I snapped... Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found

Gotem'...now to install them...
BLHTAZ replied to BLHTAZ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Contact Tom about the springs for the rear. He is a member here using the screen name "Hellcreek". He typically has them on eBay too...just type "Jeep Comanche Springs" in the search and you should find them. I used the RE 3.5" kit for the front. You will need something comparable to make it come out level. -
Nice, but yea...I would start at $2500 and see what happens. 8)
-
Thanks... All I know is that the color code is PQ9, but I don't know the name. It's the original color as my wife got hit in the drivers door a while back and we had to replace the door and paint the whole left side.
-
8) Yea...a bearing kit (install kit) typically runs in the $100 - $130 area. It has been a while so do not trust this, but it seems that the desired back-lash was around .005 - .008 when we did mine a few years ago in our YJ.

 That's almost as good as free... 8)

This is a 3.5" RE lift using Hell Creek Suspensions 3" rear leafs.
