Tires look good. :brows: -
Sevendust is my favorite band.

How much height would one lose by using waggy springs instead of MJ springs on a SOA?

Been there... done that. My son is now 8 and I am re-married. But, there were a few years in there where it was just him and I. It's not bad at all. It's actually wonderful. Sure... it cuts into your social life big time... but you won't even care. The joy of spending all that time with your child is well worth whatever sacrifices you have to make. Don't get me wrong... it can be lonely, frustrating and at times depressing doing it alone but when your kid is laying on your shoulder you'll smile. Kudos to you man for stepping up and taking on the responsibility. Not all guys are true dads.

I've never swapped a CPS. Is it as hard as everyone makes it out to be? How much are they and what brand/place should I get one? I've got a friend down the road who has a ton of Renix stuff. Maybe I can get a coil to try as well. Thanks everybody.

I think it's probably a sensor too but I don't want to just start replacing stuff until I nail down the culprit. Hopefully someone else has had this same thing occur and figured out exactly what it was.

My MJ starts as soon as you hit the key when it is cold. But, when it's warm or been driven for a while it is tough to re-start. I usually have to crank it for about 3 seconds... turn the key back... crank again for 3 seconds and then it slowly catches and runs. Sometimes it revs above 2000 rpms or so when it finally starts and then comes back down to idle. Other than this it runs fine. Anyone ever have this issue or know of anyone who has? And if so... what is the fix for it?

I love Tennessee. I grew up going to Norris Lake every weekend in the summers. Now, as an adult I head that way from time to time for some wheeling and back to the lake whenever possible. Beautiful State for sure.

I work from home so I don't get the "typical" boredom that most get at work. But, it get's boring being home ALL the time.

Then let's tentatively make it the 18th. -

That's two dates. :dunce: Just playin... I'm game for either day. -
I got rid of my TJ and built a MJ. The wife just bought a 98 TJ about a month ago though. It's just a baby Jeep with a 2" budget boost and 31's but I still get the open top, no door, street fun of a Wrangler but get to trail ride a real Jeep. :D

You also gotta think that the average car hitting you broadside would push in below where she is. That has to be better than hitting right at head level or chest level. I believe it's fine too.

Ya... pick a date. I'd like to go too. 8) -
Sounds like it's going to be awesome.

Ya... see how they lean one way and then the other in the above pics... re-check the toe and set it to 0 degrees, put the proper air pressure in the tires and see if it doesn't go away.

I remember a big dispute over on JU a few years back where everyone was saying the disco axles were stronger. So everyone started buying those instead of non-disco axles. I don't know which is stronger. Kinda funny though. When's the last time you heard of someone breaking a dana 30 axle tube off? I just ran what came on my MJ from the previous owner (a non-disco axle). Although I did add some goodies to it. :brows:
-
I think it depends on how much free time you have. If you have lots of it I say go for it. But, if you are like me time is pretty valuable. You can find non-disco HP30's fairly easily for around $100 to $150 in decent shape. If you are internet savy you could even find a 96' or 97' HP axle with the 297 joints in them already. That's the route I would go and then either sell the other axle or hold on to it for parts.

I can make mine look just like the one in the above pic. I have about 10 lbs. of pressure in my 35" Krawlers on 8" rims. I would have thought something was seriously wrong but I've been down this road quite a few times and knew it was due to my increased caster (10 degrees) and the toe being out. Well... that and you can see that it's all tire and the rim is still square with the axle. Any updates?
-
The way I described the toe, low tire pressure deal, moving forward or back, can really give the illusion of serious camber issues. My MJ currently has too much caster. Leaning back 10 degrees. This exagerates the illusion. I had the same "look" going on when I had too much toe out. The tires looked like this... /-\ but it really only was the tires even though it seriously looked like my axle was "u" shaped or something was going on. As soon as I rolled the other way they went straight up and down again. I then set my toe to 0 and the "effect" is minimalized. Are you positive that the wheels are leaning too along with the tires? Have you tried rolling it forward with the tires straight and looking at it again or rolling it backwards with the wheels straight and looking at it again?

If the unit bearings are really shot that could cause enough slop to cause it. Or if the tubes are bent or pushed up in the center section. I can't think of anything else that could cause it right now.
-
It won't matter what you do with control arms, no control arms, no track bar, five track bars, short arms, long arms, 3" of lift, 24" of lift, etc. etc. the axle is just that a solid axle. There is no adjustment or manipulation of camber other than offset balljoints. Think of it differently for a minute. Seperate the axle from the Jeep in you mind. Can you adjust or change camber (the tilt inward or outward of the top of the tire)? You have a center section, axle tubes, outer c's, knuckles, unit bearings (or hubs). This is a solid connection point for the wheel to mount to. There is no adjustment on the hubs. There is just 3 bolts on the back of the knuckle that hold it flat in the knuckle. The knuckle can be adjusted with offset balljoints but otherwise is fixed within the inner c. The c is welded to the tube and the tube is pressed in the center section. The only way for camber to be off is if one or several of the bolts are loose on the unit bearing or balljoints. Even the axle shaft bolt loose won't change the camber. If the tires aren't pointed straight ahead and instead are turned all the way to one side the effect of camber can be seen because of the caster. There has to be something else going on. Pics will help. I wish I could be there to help.
