It's back!... out of storage anyhow. Here's a recap from before winter until now: After the power windows went it, I enjoyed it for a little while longer and then it got put away for storage. Not much happened during this time and that's how it should be. Fast forward a few months and Austin (xjrev10) was interested in buying my other '88. He did. While picking up the truck, his first shake down run was to the place that I had the truck sitting for winter. I took a good look around at it, hoped in, and hit the key. Fired right up! Then after a short drive home the issue of a leaking fuel rail was more than present. This was not quite a month ago. Well, the urge to put this back into the daily driver position brought me to finally fix it. A quick trip to the local salvage yard and a generous '89 XJ later, I had myself a leak free rail. Hopefully I can just drive this for a while as is and pick at little things as I can. First on the list is a sign of things to come:

Special bonus is the random spam-bots popping up just about every week! Check around on there... lots of good stuff. Shh! I consider myself homeless until I have a work space again. The over cramped two stall just isn't working for me... unless you need a rear bumper. My garage works well for rear bumpers. :D

I really don't want to butt in here, and this may just be the creature of habit in me, but I kinda like the way the site runs. Sure, it has some issues sometimes.... and, yeah, it can get finicky when you try to upgrade... or what about when things just don't work? Some may say the same about their truck. I like our trucks too. Yup... there's a metaphor in there.

Let me rephrase my original post... Not that having a stroker isn't worth it, but for the cash I have invested in building mine there's just some other things that I would've rather have spent it on. Now that it's in there, it's a ton of fun!... just not totally worth it to me.

Helps make it fall asleep faster. :roll: ... but seriously, I like mine but if I were to do it again I think I'd just stick with a 4.0 and an HO swap.

I did just that on an old truck but mine but were cheap-o mirrors from a clearance cart at an auto parts store. I didn't add any additional support inside the doors and I hated them. At speed, the mirrors would vibrate back and forth on the door skin making a hellacious noise that would come and go. On one hand, it wasn't so bad because very rarely were the doors even on in the summer. On the other, the mounts for the original mirrors were in terrible shape that they would randomly fall off around corners and over bumps.

Kitchen is almost done. Needs weather stripping, a kick-stand under the counter top for support, propane tank mount, and a good scrub with the scotch bright pad. I had bigger plans of working on this thing over the weekend but lost a couple days with another issue. Had a pipe break off right after the pump making a huge mess out of my basement. :wall:

Said it before and I'll say it again... this is cool! The detail that you're posting up makes working on one of these seem not so bad. Thanks... now I want one.

I've used the Herculiner a bunch of times and each time I've had a little bit of color show through. In the past, I've let it sit for a day and then come back with another good coat which does cover the color. This last time, I decided to coat the area with black primer since I didn't really need two coats. Worked out great! I got just enough cover with the bedliner without any color showing through.

Decided that it was a good day to mate the topper and trailer back together for good. Also removed the 33s for something a little more reasonable: 235x75s on turbines... totally diggin' the turbines! I think it gives it a feal that jumps right out of a WilderNest catalog from the early '90s! Dated look? You bet! They really need a good scrub or I'm also kicking around the idea of painting the wheels black or a graphite color. Again, still need to finish everything on the outside of the trailer... but I still think it needs to be said: LET'S GO CAMPIN'!!!

Pretty sure it would just about take a headlight swap to fully take care of the rust on this truck... take out the headlights, back out the truck, bring in the new truck, reinstall the headlights. Good to see this little truck enjoying itself in its new habitat.
