  1. Slowly but surely... Started on the bumper too. You guessed it... more stainless.
  2. PhotoChop, not a real MJ! :D :agree: However a different topic, that bumper is far too nice. Don't let Rob try and trick us with his fabled truck that only exists on his computer. "Oh... I'll just add a couple of dents and a bend here and there. Add in the make believe badge and that'll get everyone thinking twice! Yeah! That'll fool them all!!!" No, sir. Not me. I refuse to buy into it. Fool me once... fancy bumper... shame on you. Fool me twice... Turbo Diesel badge... shame on me? Well not today, pal! Nope... not a real MJ.
  3. I stand by what I said in another post that I like the way that the site is set up. It's not overly complicated to nevigate and I always get in the same groove with my flight path when I'm on. My two cents are that if things need to change then would it be possible to keep the same layout? Just like Mr. Rogers... I like my routine. I might not hang up my jacket and put on a comfy sweater, but I definitely like the familiar feel everytime. Ever notice how his crib never changed color or mixed up the furniture? Mr. McFeely would have to look twice at the address when dropping off the mail! Not to mention that Trolly just might fall right off his track if there was a throw pillow in the way... then how would Lady Aberlin know when to turn on the charm? On a side note, I like to compare the Mr. Roger's Neighborhood characters to members on CC. Want to know which one you are? I digress... moral of the story is that I like the atmosphere and feel of how it is now. For me, for the other creatures of habit, and for Mr. McFeely please keep things as close to the same as possible. Hello neighbors.
  4. I went out and had the windshield looked at today. It's raining today so it was easy to see where it was leaking. The problem... yup... the "r" word. A couple small leaks came up where some surface rust had popped the seal. "Not a huge deal" I was told and I waited around until the windshield was out so I could see it for myself. He was right... not a real big deal but we all know that rust never sleeps. The rust was cleaned up (for now anyhow) and a new piece of glass was installed. Looking over everything, I've got some new scratches to touch up at the top of the frame. It's just a sinking feeling that everything is sealed up again just to know that someday it'll return. At the same time it's incredibly frustrating to try and try to keep something nice just to know that it won't last. As a consolation, the glass guy did say that it's the best frame on an '80s vehicle that he'd ever worked on. Yeah... thanks for that nugget of praise. Bummed... bummed out is the best way to describe it right now. :(
  5. Nope. Been stupid busy at work this week.

  7. Trailer Wiring for 4 wire and 6 pole receiver
  8. ... or not. Fix one leak just to find one that's way worse to deal with. On top of that and to add insult to injury: Yup. I wanted to take out the plastics around the windshield and broke an a pillar. The left side was already broken but it wasn't noticeable. :headpop: :headpop: :headpop: :headpop: :headpop: :headpop: :headpop: :headpop:
  9. It's back!... out of storage anyhow. Here's a recap from before winter until now: After the power windows went it, I enjoyed it for a little while longer and then it got put away for storage. Not much happened during this time and that's how it should be. Fast forward a few months and Austin (xjrev10) was interested in buying my other '88. He did. While picking up the truck, his first shake down run was to the place that I had the truck sitting for winter. I took a good look around at it, hoped in, and hit the key. Fired right up! Then after a short drive home the issue of a leaking fuel rail was more than present. This was not quite a month ago. Well, the urge to put this back into the daily driver position brought me to finally fix it. A quick trip to the local salvage yard and a generous '89 XJ later, I had myself a leak free rail. Hopefully I can just drive this for a while as is and pick at little things as I can. First on the list is a sign of things to come:

Take a look around at MN-Jeep.com. I know... I know... CC is all kinds of awesomeness, but MN-Jeep is more local and it's easier to cruise the classifieds when it's all local stuff. Special bonus is the random spam-bots popping up just about every week! Check around on there... lots of good stuff. Shh! I consider myself homeless until I have a work space again. The over cramped two stall just isn't working for me... unless you need a rear bumper. My garage works well for rear bumpers. :D
  11. I really don't want to butt in here, and this may just be the creature of habit in me, but I kinda like the way the site runs. Sure, it has some issues sometimes.... and, yeah, it can get finicky when you try to upgrade... or what about when things just don't work? Some may say the same about their truck. I like our trucks too. Yup... there's a metaphor in there.
  12. :rotf: Had to rewind it a couple times! Oh, swell...
  13. How dare you not have that garage kept!! :fs2:
  14. "I just found out how rare these are and the price went (WAY) up." WOW No kiddin'! That was just at $3500 even this morning! :shake:

  16. Let me rephrase my original post... Not that having a stroker isn't worth it, but for the cash I have invested in building mine there's just some other things that I would've rather have spent it on. Now that it's in there, it's a ton of fun!... just not totally worth it to me.
  17. Helps make it fall asleep faster. ... but seriously, I like mine but if I were to do it again I think I'd just stick with a 4.0 and an HO swap.
  18. I did just that on an old truck but mine but were cheap-o mirrors from a clearance cart at an auto parts store. I didn't add any additional support inside the doors and I hated them. At speed, the mirrors would vibrate back and forth on the door skin making a hellacious noise that would come and go. On one hand, it wasn't so bad because very rarely were the doors even on in the summer. On the other, the mounts for the original mirrors were in terrible shape that they would randomly fall off around corners and over bumps.
  19. Kitchen is almost done. Needs weather stripping, a kick-stand under the counter top for support, propane tank mount, and a good scrub with the scotch bright pad. I had bigger plans of working on this thing over the weekend but lost a couple days with another issue. Had a pipe break off right after the pump making a huge mess out of my basement. :wall:

So......how many times have you seen Star Wars? :D Enough to say that I've watched it a few times but not enough that I keep track... because I lost count.

You can’t win, Mr. Boots. Strike me down, and I will become more powerful than you could possibly imagine.
  22. Any other suggestions on the date? I know that it's still a ways out, but I'd rather not see it sneak up on us.
  23. Going to have to fight me for one first. I check every day, and I have some cash laying around for the cause... It shall be an epic battle to the death. I'm on to you... Rob :fs2: I completely agree that these are kinda hard to find. Really, the only reason that this build is happening is from pure luck. Even though this is happening, I too can't help but to check around on a daily basis. :peek:
  24. Thanks!... and I agree: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=34947
