New 2.5 MJ project...Now a 4.0 H.O. project

Well after being put on hold for a few months till the wife got back to work. We have been able to start back to working on the MJ :D Over the weekend we made a trip to pick up the 4 33" tires we got off Lead-not-follow and a bed and other goods from Limeyjeeper in Chicago :D On the way out of Chicago until it got dark, it was funny how everyone was looking at us when they passed us  This is the only side that needs any work. The other side is like new :D We hope to have it ready to paint by next Monday -
Same your time on CarFax. It will show some but not all problems. I have had 2 trucks that I got CarFax reports on, and found both had been in accidents that did not show up on CarFax. The one had been a hard crash and should have been reported

If I could of got a set of 33"x10.5" for $75 I would have went that way, but could not pass up the deal I got on the 33'x12.5":D

Thanks

I need to look for a set of rims to fit a set of 33"x12.5"x15" tires. I need more back spacing to clear the 8.8, so I need to know how much back spacing and lug pattern size ;)

camber adjustment options
CEThomas replied to comancheman's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Do you have a lift on the MJ? Maybe something with that is out? After we put the lift on the MJ had the same problem. Charles -
Fenders have been trimed 3" to remove rust and 6.5" lift, room for tires is the last thing I need to worry about :D Finding some used tires that will get us buy 1-2 yrs is the big road block now

Thanks, Have not got the the gearing yet. Wanted to get tires worked out first so I know what we need, right now it has 3.55. Just want to get it on the road till we get $$$ to do the gearing.

3 things, 1. Prior to the spacers on the 4.5" springs 2. No bed gives it a little bit 3. Parked face down on a small incline. Parked the other way and it looks right

Trying to pick out a tire for the MJ and not sure which size tire will fit on the 5 spoke rims we have. Here are the size tires that I am looking at right now. Depends on $$$ and what will fit as to which one we get. 31x10.5x15 32x11.5x15 33x10.5x15 Also it has a 6.5" lift and an 8.8 under the back.

Just lay low and look for something. Not sure the full story, but I think it may have more to due with the fact that you were sent to them w/o local input. Unless you are in management and get moves, the locals view others that are sent into a job site from the head office as a mole ;) -

At will non-union employment can do that, but most likely will not. Most people do not think about it, but it cost a lot to hire someone, give them some training so the last thing we want to do is kick them out the door. Back 7 yrs ago when I was doing hires, it spent about $700 just to bring them in the door and put uniforms on them. -

I have seen that done, and it just makes you a much larger target :D -

Well you need to start looking for a new job. Not sure what is going on as you never force someone into a "promotion", been in management to long for that to be right. Were you forced on them??? For you sister to get you the job and send you to WI from NY with out local input sounds like they have marked you as a non team player. But I will tell you this much, while you are on your probation period they can dump your a$$ for less then what you did and no lawyer is going be able to help you if they keep good paperwork. Just hang in while you look for something else. -

I will give you my take from the management side. You stated "I go out in the zone and pull presses for almost the rest of the day. I should have stopped a bit earlier than I did, but I got back to the lab work to start last night a bit late, " If your first priority is the lab and you were out doing something else and did not get your lab work done, then you were at falt. They do not want to here why, just that it will not happen anymore. You should never take a "promotion" in your first 90 days or probation period, and then if it's something you do not want to do then just say up frount that you do not want it. If you have a job when you get back ask to go back down the job you had prior. I know what you are feeling, but being in management for the last 23 yrs I know what they are thinking  -
Also if you had a Lambo and got beat, would you post it on-line  And when they came off the ramp watch the other cars in front, they should get close fast if the Lambo was running :D

Depends on experience, tools, if you have everything at hand and if you have a helper. Takes us about 1 day to change out the front axle, trans and t-case. add to more days to do a 2.5 to 4.0 swap. But that is 2 guys that know what they are doing and have all the tools, car lift and high lift trans / axle lift. But if you do much work on cars / trucks and plan it out prior to starting you can do it in a weekend. Also key is to get one other guy to help but not more then two as you will spend more time talking then working ;) If it would be worth your drive to Ohio for a couple days you could stop by on a Saturday and we could put it up on the lift and do it in a day
