  1. so i am planning on getting rid of my bench seat. its not tore up or anything. its practically perfect but i just don't benches. I'm planning on throwing some summit plastic poly seats in there with one of those padded covers to match the truck. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/RCI-8020S/ my question is if i get the bucket seat brackets out of my parts cherokee will they mount up to the already prefitted holes for the bench seat? the seatbelts and everything arent an issue because I'm planning on a 4 point harness in the future. but will it be easy street swapping out the seat brackets or shoud i do something else. any suggestions?
  2. awesome! i was so mad when i took my truck wheeling and the interior lights landed on my shoulder. all the clips are broken the only factory replacement i could find was 50 a piece

has anybody around pierce county hit up this place called sandhills near burnett and wilkeson? its an awesome place for a but of everything rallying mudding and wheeling. its an open property its on the way to evans creek. has anyone besides me been there?
  4. thanks it started off with the turns because some kid broke the lense. it just went from there
  5. I'm in pierce county in buckley
  6. I wanted to see how many pacific northwest jeepers we have running around here. ive seen em on the road
  7. So ive been on the site for a little while now so i thought i would make a built thread for my beloved truck. But i have to start with a story. back when i was seven me and my dad would always mess with the families cars together. well for 400 dollars he picked up a 86 jeep comanche x with a 2.8 v6 5 speed 4wd. his was in gold. thats the truck i learned to drive stick in. the first truck we did donuts in. the first truck i got taken wheeling in. well eventually dad got tired of working on it and went the clutch let go he just sold it off. the next owner drove it though a wall (dumbass) but what started my new love for this truck was when i turned 15 and got my permit my dad said okay you saved up 1000 bucks. i want you in a 2wd automatic truck. i told him he was high. i spent maybe 5 months cruising the internet and used car lots looking for something that fit me. then one day a guy rolled into my local post office with a gunmetal gray comanche. i looked at it dents and went thats a cool truck. i asked him about it he said "its my old hunting truck and she just went on her last trip. I'm putting her on craigslist when i get home". i asked how much he said he had new tires on it so 1700 i went damn i only have 1100 held together. he said well i have the old street tires still. i can swap them back over and you can take it for 1100. from then on it was love. It was just like my dads. except the color. from then on i drove the wheels off the thing. literally. Here goes the photo gallery :D When i first got it. When I found out I'm not he only MJ in town First modification with many to come. New Snow camo primer paint job because someone took it upon themselves to key my truck to hell. New Wheels to replace my bent ones and 31s to boot First drive/ wheel in the snow The day i blew up the rear end and transfer case Headache rack and spare tire carrier all made myself New final paint job done on a whim played with the interior a bit installed a tach as well as oil and temp gauges to rid myself of idiot lights Taillight and turn signal plates/ guards and some angry eyelids. made everything myself Home made tube doors prepping for summer My tube bumper that i built from the pictures i got from this very forum My most recent investment a set of 15x10 cragars and new 31s to give it that posed trophy truck look I'm going for And this weekend I'm diving into the world of lifts going with a 3 inch front coil with rear 2 inch warrior shackles and rough country shocks. Thanks for reading :D :wrench:
  8. Sir i think i can do you one better. except mine is with pictures and a story no video. so i have short gears (4.10s) and back when i was rocking snow camo in the winter it started getting wet outside. well all my friends have tuners built to go sideways or 3/4 ton trucks built to handle some jolts. well they started doing burnouts and donuts and when it was my turn i go for first gear and slam the gas. well the 2.8 has enough gusto to spin them and the tranny took it. my problem was because the gears are so short that i get axle hop like nobodies business. well sure enough tires met pavement and i blew the spider gears leaving a maximum of 3 teeth on each gear. trust me i was happy. but thats not it. from the years of wear and tear from the PO when i put it in 4lo to get it on the trailer and moved forward an inch suddenly boom the transfer case explodes. all over the pavement. well this is how i upgraded my rear to some yukon metal. lesson learned the jeep comanche was built to do many things but was not built for burnouts.

    New paint

. i am so doing that when i get tired of the olive drab green
  10. so the nicest thing about my truck is my interior. its the cleanest ive seen (minus the sub control wire i know.). ive done some fooling around with some spraypaint and gauges. left is oil pressure and water temp and right is tach (yes they light up green to match). but ive run out of ideas. has anyone seen or done some cool stuff with their dash and interior? I'm up for ideas.
  11. okay sweet. that was my biggest concern about it
  12. have you hadd any problems with framed bending/ putting the doors back on because of bent frames?
  13. exactly as they were offered in 86 except with every option from trannys to t cases to axles to motor and yes v8 and boost is an option because i think smackin a tuner down in my farm truck would make me laugh uncontrollably
  14. don't take it wheeling and trash the front end because you think everything is cross compatible with a cherokee. lesson sadly learned the hard way :(
  15. okay. so summer is right around the corner. I have made my own tubedoors. i know they won't protect me from impacts they are there just so dad has his own little piece of mind. ive taken the doors off before and i know about the realignment problems when i put the doors back on. i know I'm legal. so what i want to know is do i run the risk of completely screwing my truck up by not having doors? from some people ive heard because the way the unicab was built on these trucks I'm peein in the wind where others have said that the frame is tough enough as long as i don't put the thing on 2 wheels and flex the hell out of it. does anybody have an educated response to my question? do i risk bending frame or can i enjoy my summer a little more?
  16. gotta be some george thorogood, SRV, some project 86, five finger death punch, and some the game as well as skrillex. I have a 10 inch sub and 400 watt amp with infinitys in the doors and pillars. I'm a kid. i like loud stereos in my pickup. pissed the neighbors off when i go doorless
  17. ive got a new set of wheels and tires on it and so far just about all the U joints are done except the driveshaft thats next. I'm still running factory suspension until the end of the week when i put my 2 inch warrior shackles 3 inch mystery coils and rough country shocks on. then i will start sorting through everything and cursing the day i was born
  18. well this is what i have in the way of light guards i custom made some taillight covers/guards on a computer controlled plasma cutter and an english wheel (and yes i am kicking myself for trashing factory light housings and i have custom turns i made on the same machine so i thought some grilles would look amazing with my jeeps "angry eyes"
  19. So i can't figure it out. i know its a pickup and everything but my truck just rides like hell. when i got it factory with the exception of rancho shocks it rode okay but after i blew a tire i swaped to some knobby 31s then the ride started going to hell. at first thought it was unevenly worn tires (got em used) and got em balanced and to no resolution. then found that one of my wheel joints decided to not be a wheel joint anymore and at slow speeds would knock at highspeed throw itself to one side and imitate a misbalanced tire. fixed that still bad ride. turns out my back right wheel was out of round and through a lot of swearing got new wheels new bridgestone A/Ts and still the steering wheel vibrates and the entire truck kind of vibrates as i go down the road. I'm out of ideas. can anybody help?
  20. where would i get moog joints? ive been planning on doing joints for a little while just to get it out of the way
  21. alright thanks i was gonna do a projector/HID conversion with my eyelids and wanted to know more about that guard thanks for the info guys
  22. had the same problem about a week ago. with it not shutting. pb blast and wirebrush (obviously) and close it with your hand a couple of times to make sure the mechanism is still actually functioning. when mine went i found out the spring had unwound itself. lucky for me i have a single latch in the center so i only had to do it once
  23. so ive seen them everywhere on mostly on old chevys and toyotas i know that pete m has them on his rig if you go look at anything hes posted you can see em. they're the mesh metal 7x6 headlight guards. what are they called and where can i get them. the only time i see them is when they are on someone elses rig. they look like this http://img123.imageshack.us/img123/6703/img1552bwj2.jpg i want a set to really top off the military trophy truck look i have going. and all the spraypainted angry eyes in the world couldnt help when i catch a rock.
  24. i trimmed the fenders for turning not flex so the on road handling is pretty good. i have 3 inch coils sitting in the shop along with some warrior 2inch shackles and I'm waiting for my rough country shocks to show up. its not really a wheeler. i run it through a field and a forest every once in a while not any hardcore wheeling so flex isnt the biggest issue. this summer I'm planning on front and rear fender bulges from rustys off road so it should all be good
  25. got my new tube bumper installed. but more importantly i got my wheels on. no more rub!
