  1. The bedsides can be put onto your existing bed. You'll have to cut the factory bedside off and bolt the new fiberglass piece on. Since they are fiberglass, you'll have to take your time fitting and fenagling them into place but they are good fenders. Also, you'll need to add to the factory supports (near the wheel wells/cut and lengthen) and you can adjust the flare of them at that point. The tail light openings come with a recessed spot, but they will need to be cut out. TAKE YOUR TIME! It is real easy to cut too much and end up with large gaps. All in all, they are good pieces.
  2. Both statements are very true. Everyone has their preference...I get tired of only having a roughly 175 mile range around town. Granted that was the old truck and this one may be better but we'll see. The 25 gallon tank would be an option. But I would still want 2 just to keep the truck even.
  3. lil_loco - You certainly could, but I think it would require a custom tank to do it so it's not hanging down too much. Pete - Of course we are over analyzing it! LoL You gotta admit, it would be cool to just flip a switch instead of getting out and dumping more fuel in. Not to mention if you want to do a really long trip you could fill both tanks AND have a couple of jerry cans. Besides, it's fun to have something different, even though we are all already different just because we have MJs.
  4. Sorry, no wheelin shots yet of the new truck 1992 4.0L SWB - in process of 4wd conversion Image Not Found But here is my old blue truck (at least how it use to look) Image Not Found Everything suspension wise that was on the blue truck is now on the white truck. Next is to transplant the freshly rebuilt 4.0L / manual valve body 42re / np242. It's a daily driver so I can't have it down for very long. Anyhow, what do you think?
  5. And that's part of why I like this place. I've been lurking for long awhile now and as you can see, I haven't posted much. But I decided that I need to get more involved!
  6. BLHTAZ - didn't know that, interesting. Sugarfoot - You have a good point. It's really hard to say what will happen. It just sux that Chrysler got away from DC (who hurt the "niche" that Jeep had) just to have more issues. It seems right now, anything goes for every company out there , automotive or not. And all we can do is wait and see.
  7. That would be the best! I was hoping it would be an AMC/Chrysler V8! side note - I didn't realize I did a double post - Thanks for not flaming me for it!!!!
  8. That wouldn't surprise me one bit. Come to think of it, you might be on to something with Honda. I was thinking that it would be Toyota, but Honda could snap it up to compete against Toyota's FJ. The funny thing is, the Misbehaving Foster Child analogy is good, buuuuut the Foster Child has outlasted most of those companies that have parented it... Time will tell.
  9. My bet would be, even if they do go in to BK, that someone (some company) would pick up that name - Jeep. It's to valuable to let die. It's a niche market that no other company really has a strong hold on. Some have a small hold (Toyota w/ FJ Cruiser, GM w/ Hummer H2/3) and I would bet that it would be one of those that would snag it. Not to mention the aftermarket replacement parts companies that have wrapped their entire huge business around Jeep parts like Crown and Omix-ada that will continue to make decent parts for Jeeps. Look at the CJ. It's been gone for over 20 years now, can't get any parts from the dealer for it at all, yet you can build one completely from scratch out of brand new quality parts. Now don't get me wrong, if Chrysler does go into BK, things will change, prices may go up, some parts may get harder to find but I don't think it will be the end of the Jeep world.
  10. Found this... http://videos.streetfire.net/video/Jeep ... 134596.htm
  11. I spent some time laying under my long bed rig and measured things out a little while ago. A factory MJ 16gal tank would work (on mine at least) if you mirror the stock tank. If you play with the filler hose turns and so forth, you can theoretically get the filler out into the wheel well to deal with the fuel filler issue. You'd have to build custom mounts, and shorten the exhaust but I think it would work. I need to lay underneath my short bed and see if it will work there too. I would most likely cut the hole and put the fuel filler into the side of the body so it looks like a factory option. Just because the California smog devil is temper mental and I don't want to give them a reason to complain. I'm sure I'll do it sooner or later, so I'll post up how it goes.
  12. I left this post and went back to work and couldn't help but feel like I yelled at my little brother for being naive. I'll end with this - I would be happy to help you get where you want to go, but you have to realize that it will take time and money. Be smart about what you buy and how you build it, and in the long run, you'll save money. Just let me know if you want some help.
  13. I'm sure I forgot somethings in there as well. I have built and assisted the build on a large amount of Jeepspeed rigs, from "cheap" that keep braking, decent mild pre-runner rigs, and full blown race cars. I guess the point is, don't take it so lightly. Jeeps are highly modify-able and you can go in steps to get where you want without cheaping out.
  14. Well, to beat a dead horse.....(can't find the smilie for it!) It's not cheap at all. But here ya go, you want to make a pre-runner that will do well but not be the most expensive way? - Rubicon Express Drop brackets (don't know why you think they aren't good, I've been running them on my pre-runner for a couple years now and they haven't let me down, not to mention the countless Jeepspeed guys that have been running them for even longer with great results, like winning championships.........) - The full RE 5.5" lift Drop bracket kit - X-Rock Anti-Sway bar - Bilstein 7100s or some other 2.0 shock with a reservoir - Hydro Bumps - Heavy Duty Steering - Limit straps - Deaver rear race springs - Brakelines - Longer rear shackle (choose your brand, I've been using the Skycrapper one, and it's been great. Grease fittings to lube them up and they are plenty strong) - Beef up or replace rear differential (w/ chromoly shafts/detroit or spool/proper gear ratio) - Beefed braking power (rear disc conversion/double brake booster, etc) - Not to mention the extra Horsepower you'll need, the cage for racing (with engine and bed cage), the race seats and harnesses, the fuel cell, the custom fuel plumbing, and the countless other safety requirements you'll have to meet... - And last but not least...the knowledge to set it up correctly As said before - look at the Jeepspeed rigs. You'll be wasting your money if you cheap out, because when you actually go to race and brake down because you didn't think everything through and didn't set up the car right, you'll be "like totally bummed out dude". Side note - The Ranger "box size" may be close, but to mod those things to get them on the truck would be a waste. There are Hanamann rear fenders (which I have installed on another truck and look really good.) But I understand that they don't follow the lines of the front fenders you want to put on, so just flare (or "pull) the rear bedsides of your current bed. I did that on my blue pre-runner and it worked out great. Would save you time, headache, and MONEY. I don't want to scare you with all of this, but it's not cheap. Do it once and do it right. If you can't afford the at least decent stuff WAIT. end
  15. There have been some pictures on here floating around (usually in the pub) of a blue Jeepspeed race MJ with the 2500 front end conversion. That truck averages 60+ mph out there in the dirt. He passes class 7 trucks all day long. Still has the straight beam in the front end, too. Might not be able to keep up exactly with the one in the video, but he'll give him a run for his money. :D On occasion I have been known to take my old MJ and romp it like that, and the new 92 MJ I am building will definitely be out there doing the same. You'd be surprised how fast you can make these rigs...
  16. Yea, after 3 weeks of it still being there at the yard, I decided, hell It's waiting for me! Before I knew it, I was calling my buddy to borrow his trailer, and another to borrow his truck, told the fiance (now Wife) "We're going for a road trip." and was off to drive 8 or so hours up north. And she didn't disappoint. Still hasn't. Has a cracked exhaust manifold, but other than that, she's great! Very happy I took the chance.
  17. Those shocks actually need to be rebuilt, the valving is waaaay to light. But they serve the purpose up until I can afford some real shocks (King 2.5 bypasses with reservoirs). Just out of sheer curiosity................do I put a kid vibe off?
  18. Got to do more work on the blue one this week-end. Image Not FoundImage Not Found Image Not FoundImage Not Found Image Not FoundImage Not Found Cleaned and painted. Stay tuned for the next episode...
  19. Well the 5spd is gonna go. Not just cuz the pilot bearing is going out (she gets difficult to shift after it warms up, which is a common sign of the pilot going bad), but because my bum left knee doesn't like it after a 20+ minute drive. Oh well, atleast I've got a rebuilt 42re that's already paid for to drop in! I need to swap the trans out for a 4wd unit anyhow, so why spend more money right?
  20. Hmmmm...I'll check my source and see what I can do.....
  21. haha, I guess I could have looked at that instead of asking! lol Sorry, I am a little brain dead. Not exactly sure what to do with myself now that the wedding is over. The tornado has stopped, so now there is just the clean up!
  22. Garden Grove/Anaheim/Stanton (I live right near the borders) and work in Orange. Are you from around here?
  23. Thank you guys soooo much. That garter was freakin awesome! I knew I picked a good girl, she "allows" me to play ((lol)) and even wore a Comanche garter for me to take off !!!! Pete, I can't thank you enough. Just got back from the honeymoon yesterday, so now it's play time!!!! Gonna start ripping apart the blue truck soon to build an even better truck out of the white 92. I'll post up as progress goes.
  24. This one was broken when I bought it as well. Just seems like a strange place to break.
