  1. Ok back again, still can't figure this booger out. :fs1: this is a picture of the actuall wires them selves. With the orange wire on the '+' terminal and the black wire on the ' - ' terminal the switches control the bright map reading lights. With both switches as the are now both lights are OFF. They can be turned on individually, since there are two switches. However. . . . . Image Not Found Continued. . . However, if both white and orange wires are on the '+' terminal and black on the ' - ' terminal the ONLY light that will come on will be the bright map reading lights. IF the orange wire is removed from the '+' leaving only the white and black wire connected the dim/door open lights will still not come on. The ONLY way to get the dim/door open lights to come on is to have a single switch thrown as in the picture below AND the orange wire disconnected. Image Not Found But with this setup as soon as the Orange wire is reconnected the dim lights turn off and which ever switch was thrown turns on that map light. Sooooo, if you didnt understand by gibberish I will try and post a video of exactly what is going on, thanks for the help.
  2. Glad to hear it  , maybe some day i can find the spare change to do the same. Oh and what vehicle did you get the brake setup from?
  3. Well shoot you missed a golden oppurtunity to replace your heater core, that is unless you know it was a good one 100%.
  4. Wow, thanks guys i really appreciate all the input. As you can tell i am still highly uneducated in the ways of electrical, or at least its basic properties. It never occured to me that i could switch the two hots and one ground for two grounds and one hot  . I will definately see what i can do with this, thanks again. rely120, middle Tennessee, about 70 miles south east of Nastyville.
  5. Exactly! :rotf:
  6. Yup and thats what has me confused :hmm: Yup as well, the white wire operates the dimmer/door open lights, Orange wire for the bright reading lights. The more i think about this the more i realize I have to have a setup that has a variable hot lead. I will check on the current interior lighting and see whats up, but i have no idea where my multimeter is.
  7. This shouldnt be to hard, I am pretty good with minor electrical stuff like this, but i just couldnt see a way around my current problem. A few weeks ago i picked up a nice little rearview mirror with map lights from the junkyard, today i tried wiring it in but ran into a minor problem. The mirror has 3 wires, black, white, and orange. With only one ground (black) how can i make the lights come on when the door is opened and after it has been closed? The mirror itself actually has two settings, one is where the two lights are brightest and can be turned individually, The other is where both lights come on together and are much dimmer. Because of this i assume the mirror originally operated exactly as i want it to now in my truck. EDIT: I just had a thought, since i don't have 2 grounds but i do have 2 hots. How can i make the hot the operates the door lights variable like the ground is on the door jam??
  8. If you don't have any lift, i guess the eaisest thing to do would be to snag the driveshaft along with the axle. :dunno: Or do cherokee shafts not swap?
  9. If i am not mistaken, this is a ranchhand bumper, and ya there pretty BA. My brother built a copy for his super duty, i think it looks better personally, but he sold the truck :( . I have always wanted to make something like it but material cost has been prohibitive. I'd like to see this on the front of my MJ, just a little more compact.
  10. Yuppers! heat is really feet, if you want heat on your body/face put it on vent and just move the thermostat over to heat. I don't think there is a split half feet/half face setting.
  11. I think they saying about assuming is that it makes an @$$ out of U and ME. And how does one go about having the driveshaft shortend? Is that something that has to be done done by a pro?
  12. No driveshaft shenanigans? And isnt the 2.5 the most common engine associated with the XJ D44?
  13. I can build something better than that with popsicle sticks, and elmers wood glue! Just kidding :rotf: but seriously that is some nice fabrication, much props :clapping: I bet you can tig weld like nobody's buisness.
  14. Ooohh, right. So I have an eliminator, not sure if it has the offroad package, but if i were to do this i think i would net 5.5, 5.7 something like that.
  15. I'm a little confused, :hmm: . So what can we use off a WJ? I thought the caliper upgrade was a PnP?
  16. :rock on: Hell Yeah!! Back when i still lived in FL we would kayak, jet ski, motor boat, skim board and just about everything else down our roads after a hurricane, some times even after a severe thunderstorm. My favorite part is getting to go out in our bigger rigs, see profile pic, and cruise around when no one else can. :D
  17. or a long enough extension cord. :rotfl2:
  18. :agree: well, he doesnt scare me, but he does make me laugh. I think one of his biggest plunders was that video of him at his superpack dinner/gathering thingy. You know, the one where he pretty much wrote off half of all Americans as being lazy, good for nothing slackers?
  19.  , wow that would be awesome under an MJ. But one thing for sure is this guy is crazy, "uhh ya I want a grand out of them, and if i don't get it, i'll take em a scrap em for 100 bucks" thats sound logic right there. Any idea what size they are? Oh wait. . (reads big bold words) "44 super swampers". :dunce:
  20. From what i understand, if you want to go with just the newer (97+) cherokee front end its pretty much a bolt on affair. But since i have never done it someone else will have to pipe up, shouldnt take long. EDIT: Oh, and welcome to the club scott :waving:
  21. Probably. When i did the CAD fix i left all the vacuum system in place, at least until a few months ago, but thankfully i was smart enough to keep the hole system, intact in one totally reuseable piece. I am thinking i can figure some way of running a single line specifically for the 4X4 vacuum operated light, we will see.
  22. I was out working on my truck after dark, obviously, putting in some insulation and had a flood light hung inside the cab. Thought it might be funny. :D It is the pub afterall.
  23. Very true, well said
  24. Nice little upgrade there, the list we can steal from a WJ is getting pretty long. :brows: Booster master cylinder calipers Tie rod Tie rod ends sway bar newer intake power steering box, i think. what about the rest of the steering components?
