  1. Okay fellas here's the low down. I have been wanting to build a stroker for my comanche ever since i bought it. I saved and researched and saved some more, finally i had the necessary parts and money to accomplish my goal. Found the shop i wanted to use and pulled the trigger, however it has been a little over 8 months and nothing has been done on said motor. I knew as soon as i decided to use this shop i was in for a long wait, but due to their outstanding reputation for producing the best engines around i was willing to wait my turn, and i still am. As of this moment i have $2100 into the motor and that is my final budget figure. The stroker, if i continue with that path will consume all of said $2100, leaving me with nothing to fix my current issues like DW, squealing a/c, and a multitude of other items that need to be bought, like E- brake cables, condensor, a/c dryer, and window seals to name a few. If you managed to read all of that, here is the final question. If you had $2100 and a bone stock comanche what would you rather but your money towards? I would appreciate non sarcastic answers, as this is something i have had great difficulty dealing with. If i do not use the 2100 to build the stroker my plan is to use it to build the lift kit on the DIY section of this site, buy the tires i want https://www.treadwri...wler-m-t-p.aspx , do an axle swap, fix all my issues previously mentioned and if there is money left over and i can afford it, a rear gear to 4.10s thanks for all your help fellas.
  2. 2.5 or 4.0 gearing and tire size also play a huge part in power.
  3. Been in middle TN for about 8 years now and including mine and the one i saw in a junkyard i have seen a total of about 5. They are about as rare as hens teeth in these parts.
  4. doesnt someone on here have in their signature "nothing can help the man with the wrong mind set and nothing can stop the man with the right one"
  5. Tell us what you really think crusier. :laughin:
  6. Oh ya, now i recognize it. Its mine, in about 25 years. ;)
  7. 100% 4.0 inline six, And the engine may be a 94, but you still have the 87 Renix system. As for the rear axle, to be honest i'm not real sure what that is, deffinately not a Dana 44. Probably just the angle of the photo, but if i had to take a guess i would say its a dana 35. Dana 35 is just the name for that particular rear axle, Dana is the manufacturer, and 35 is a measurement of which i am not aware. As long as the truck is not driven by the mad hatter it will be fine. The D35 has a real ugly history of being the worst rear axle ever. What speed is your transmission? 5spd = BA-10 :ack: or AX-15 :rock on: 4spd = AX-4 or the AX-5 neither are that good or that bad Thats malarky, yes R-12 isnt made anymore, but there are plently of people/mechanics who can still get a hold of it and recharge your system. BUT if i were you i would do the proper conversion over to R-134a so that it won't be a hassle for anyone down the road.
  8. Well boys, with just one swift youtube search i found this, and i think it is pretty much the conclusive evidence i needed.
  9. hmmm, its been a little while since i replaced it. Say 8-9 months, so i can't say that isnt a possibilty. However, i have been told by a very reliable source, that even one notch off will either cause it to run extremely rough or it simply won't start at all. It seems to run just to darn smooth for it to be a timing issue.
  10. why do you call your MJ the anti christ?? :hmm:
  11. :rotf: , I was starting to wonder if you were gonna get in on this.
  12. Ooh, that pretty nice all in all, espically with that all black interior. Questions: does it have working a/c? Can you take a picture of the rear axle? yes, take a picture of the engine.
  13. Worthless, you should totally give to me. :D But seriously, need a lot more details. Anything and everything you can think of.
  14. If you get that one I have a bed that is the exact same color, decals and all that i might be willing to part with. Also is a good thing, that ding is in the door, since they are much easier to replace than cab corners. see if he will go for 1500, 1750 is a little high for that many miles, but other wise i think you might have found a wiener.
  15. Thats got to be a record for the most pictures on a single craigslist ad, but my god that thing is gorgeous.
  16. I know its not a comanche, but i can't think of a better place to go for help. Specs: 1985 toyota tercel 4cyl 5spd 4x4 The Problem: Extreme loss of power, totally falling on its face when you apply any amount of gas, with load is on, but can be revved to the sky if in neutral. The other problem is this consistant Clacking sound, that seems to be coming from within the engine. My theory is a collapsed lifter, but i am not really sure. All the rockers seem to be within spec, around 11 tho gap between the rocker and spring seat. It has nearly 200k on it but will idle all day long, and starts with little to no trouble. I just recently replace the timing belt and don't think i forget something when putting it all back together, so i am not sure where to go from here. I am afraid i will have to tear the head off, which will require me to dismantle the nightmare of vacuum hoses. Here is a short video of the engine running, hopefully you can hear what it is doing. Image Not Found FWIW, i have another tercel that is identical to this one except for 1 year newer and brown. It has 210k on it and it runs like a freakin top.
  17. Does the truck move in any unnatural way? I am having a hard time visualizing exactly what is going on here.
  18. j10, at least thats where mine came from.
  19. I would bet money your clutch is slipping.
  20. Hi there, :waving: glad you decided to check out our website. Comanche Club is the place to be if you ever run into trouble with your truck. Everything you've ever wanted to know about your truck can be found here. As for you locals, I go to MTSU and when i was riding the bus around campus today I spied a nice looking black eliminator out in the parking lot. First one i've seen in my 3 years on campus, and only the 3rd one ive seen in middle TN in the 8 years i've lived here. I just so happened to have my CC cards in my wallet and determined it was my civic duty to take one and place it under their windsheild wiper. Hope they found it. :crossfingers: I'm not bold enough to write down the vin, BUT i did notice the plate was from Virginia. Is that anybody already on here? Black eliminator, from Virginia
  21. Dang, people sure want a pretty penny for their mj. Buuuut, that is one clean stinkin Comanche.
  22. Didnt even notice your local, :laughin: but its just another thing that if it doesnt work, you are going to have to fix it.
  23. Co2? :hmm: I thought its was a torch.
  24. and a southern one no less, which means minimal rust. :crossfingers:
