Just pulled it out today, odometer was a little confusing, it was half way between the one and two in the hundreds of thousands, so either it has 113K on it  or it has 213K on it :ack: I am hoping for the former. As the topic says it came from a 93 ZJ, aw4 auto, 4x4. I am about 98% sure the motor itself is sound, all the fluids checked out. Coolant was pretty much new vibrant green, oil showed zero signs of contamination, albeit was black, had no signs of catastrophic overheating, and the engine in general looked pretty good and clean, no leaks from head, front main, or rear main. It also had a new water pump and starter. The only thing that i saw that concerned me, was when we pulled the exhaust and intake man there was a substantial amount of carbon build up in the exhaust ports. Do you guys have any recommendations as to basic things i should do before dropping it in my MJ? I am just about certain there will be no problems using this for my comanche, the only things I can think of are the Pilot bushing and the flywheel. Both of which i have. I also have all the Renix and HO acceories, intakes, exhaust mans as well. I suppose the point of this thread was to ask you guys just to be doubly sure there is nothing i have missed. thanks fellas ftpiercecracker

Hey bud :waving: , To be honest its hard to estimate what you as an individual will have to pay to get it running good again. We arent there with you to look it over and point out everything it might or might not need, but a good rule of thumb i try to live by is whatever you think its gonna cost be prepared to spend double. If it is 100% rust free, just the body alone is worth 800 bucks, they are that hard to come by. If it runs decent enough where you could get it home and its only cosmetic issues are what you have pictured, $800 is darn good deal. I say drive it! . :MJ 2: .

Can a knock sensor be put on a later model block? I am using a newer block but keeping my Renix system. I am pretty sure some have the port, but its just not tapped. Can it be tapped without machining and what can be done if theres no port at all? ftpiercecracker

I appreciate the offer, but I am actually picking one up tomorrow. Just out of curiosity why are you getting rid of yours?

This is something i found that i thought might be funny to read, not sure if its ever been on here before. :hmm: Just so you know i didnt write this, i just copied and pasted. here is the original link. . . . http://www.dontevenreply.com/view.php?post=107 ftpiercecracker. Original ad: looking for a jeep comanche. must be running and in good condition. can pay up to $500. offers for other trucks will be ignored. From Mike Partlow to *********@*********.org: Hey, I couldn't help but notice your ad looking for a Comanche. I don't have one, but seeing as it is such a rare car I figured I'd help you out and put you in touch with a friend of mine who is selling his. Would you like his contact information? Mike From Joel ******* to Mike Partlow: yeah that would be great thanks From Mike Partlow to Joel *******: Okay, it is ***********@gmail.com. Just tell him Mike sent ya. Mike From Joel ******* to Mike Partlow: ok thanks From Joel ******* to Leo D: hey there your friend mike told me that you were interested in selling your jeep comanche? From Leo D to Joel *******: Ugh...freaking Mike. I'm sorry. Mike is an idiot. I told him that I knew a guy selling a Comanche. I'm not selling one. If you want I can have that guy contact you. I'll give his email address: *******@yahoo.com Sorry about that. Leo From Joel ******* to Leo D: okay... From Joel ******* to Chris Vandrell: hey your friend leo told me you were selling a comanche? From Chris Vandrell to Joel *******: Ah, Leo! I haven't talked to him in forever! How's he doing? From Joel ******* to Chris Vandrell: i dunno. i just met him online From Chris Vandrell to Joel *******: Do me a favor, will ya? Tell Leo that Chris asked how he's doing? From Joel ******* to Chris Vandrell: are you selling a jeep comanche? From Chris Vandrell to Joel *******: What did Leo say? From Joel ******* to Chris Vandrell: he said he is good From Chris Vandrell to Joel *******: Great! Anyway, I'm not selling the Comanche, my brother is. Can I give him your email address so he can get in touch with you? His name is Randy. From Joel ******* to Chris Vandrell: oh god dammit. fine give him my email From Chris Vandrell to Joel *******: Will do! From Chris Vandrell to Joel *******: Hey, I just talked to Leo. He said you didn't tell him I asked how he was doing! Why did you lie to me? From Joel ******* to Chris Vandrell: look i don't give a @#$% man i just want to buy a @#$%in comanche and you keep dicking me around. who gives a @#$% how hes doing if you were talking to him then why the @#$% didnt you just @#$%ing ask him? for christ's sake just @#$%ing put me through to the guy selling the comanche already From Chris Vandrell to Joel *******: Calm down, son. No need to get your panties in a bunch. I just got off the phone with Randy and he is going to email you shortly. From Randy Vandrell to Joel *******: Hello! Is this Joe? From Joel ******* to Randy Vandrell: no my name is joel From Randy Vandrell to Joel *******: Oh, my mistake. I must have misheard Chris. I couldn't really hear him over the phone. He is using one of those new "smart phones" but personally I think they sound terrible. You won't find me using one of those, no sir. My good-ol-fashioned land line phone will do me just fine. Everyone always tells me I sound very clear on my phone, they ask me "Randy, how do you sound so crisp and clear on your phone?" and I tell them "I'm using a land line! If you want to sound clear, take your cell phone and throw it in the trash!" This new technology is a load of garbage if you ask me. You don't use a cell phone, do ya Joe? I wouldn't if I were you. Anyway, I just got off the phone with Chris. He tells me you are interested in buying my Jeep Cherokee? From Joel ******* to Randy Vandrell: no a jeep COMANCHE. please tell me you have a comanche not a @#$%ign cherokee From Randy Vandrell to Joel *******: Ah, the Jeep Comanche! A fine vehicle. Mine was a 1994, had a lot of good times in that truck. Once I drove that truck all the way to Newark! Couldn't believe it made it, but that truck was one tough son-of-a-b*@$£. It was a long trip but I just popped in my Johnny Cash cassette tapes and I was set for the whole ride. Do you listen to Johnny Cash? Great man, he was. Anyway, the Comanche. I was selling that, yes. Unfortunately, I sold it to a guy about a month ago. Real nice guy who bought it, I'm trying to remember his name. I remember thinking it was Mike but it wasn't Mike. It was something foreign...I'm leaning towards "Mikel." From Joel ******* to Randy Vandrell: i don't give a @#$% what his name is a$$hole. what the @#$% you @#$%ing idiots just wasted my @#$%ing time for nothing From Randy Vandrell to Joel *******: Boy, Chris was right when he said you were an angry lad. Relax, I've got some good news for you. Mikel loved the Comanche, but he has to move far away and is unable to take the truck with him. Therefore he is trying to sell the truck. He tried to sell it back to me for 500 bucks, but I told him "Mikel, why in the hell would I need the Comanche? I just bought a new F150!" You should see my F150, it is really nice. Perfect for hauling my ATVs to Chris's house. Chris has a lot of property up in Hagerstown and we love to go offroading there with his pal Leo. Leo sure is a crazy son-of-a-b*@$£! Speaking of Leo, what's this I hear about you lying to Chris about asking Leo how he's doing? Why would you do that? From Joel ******* to Randy Vandrell: ENOUGH WITH THE RANTS JUST SHUT UP!!!!! HOLY $#!& WILL YOU JUST SHUT THE @#$% UP!? I don't GIVE A @#$% ABOUT ANY OF YOUR $#!& @$$ STORIES JUST GIVE ME THE @#$%ING GUY WHO IS SELLING THE COMANCHE!!! GOT THAT? NOT HIS SON, NOT HIS @#$%ING BROTHER, JUST THE GUY WITH THE TRUCK. QUIT WASTING MY @#$%ING TIME From Randy Vandrell to Joel *******: Jeez, you sure are an angry fella! Don't like to talk much, do ya? I understand you're just trying to buy a truck. You're all business, I respect that. You're going to want to email Mikel. I am confident he is still trying to sell the truck. You'll love it, its a real beaut. Mikel's email address is ***********@hotmail.com From Joel ******* to Mikk Sisask: hey some jackass named randy told me he sold you a jeep comanche and you are looking to sell it? From Mikk Sisask to Joel *******: Olen segaduses. Mida sa sellega öelda tahad? Kas te räägite eesti keeles? From Joel ******* to Mikk Sisask: @#$%ing hell...ENGLISH? do you speak english? From Mikk Sisask to Joel *******: American, yes? From Joel ******* to Mikk Sisask: yes philadelphia are you selling a jeep comanche? From Mikk Sisask to Joel *******: Yes! Car sale, me to you sales of vehicle, yes? From Joel ******* to Mikk Sisask: yeah do you have pictures/information? From Mikk Sisask to Joel *******: Yes photographs! Its nice cars, yes? From Joel ******* to Mikk Sisask: THATS NOT A @#$%ING JEEP COMANCHE RETARD From Mikk Sisask to Joel *******: Oh you buys Jeep from me, yes? Comanche strongs truck! Loud! Vrrrrrrrr! Ha ha ha. From Joel ******* to Mikk Sisask: ha @#$%ing ha. send me a picture of the @#$%ing jeep From Mikk Sisask to Joel *******: From Joel ******* to Mikk Sisask: YES that is what i want. how much are you selling it for? From Mikk Sisask to Joel *******: I sells for 5800 Kroons, yes? From Joel ******* to Mikk Sisask: what the @#$% is a kroon? how much in AMERICAN MONEY? From Joel ******* to Mikk Sisask: NO! @#$% ESTONIA AND @#$% YOU!!! GODDAMMIT WHAT A WASTE OF @#$%ING TIME

Some of you have already seen this craigslist ad from another of my threads, but i had another concern about the truck if I were to buy it. Since the truck is an 87 i am pretty sure it will have the c101 connector. Which makes me quite nervous, having dealt with extremely bad electrical problems on my current MJ which did not have the c101, buying another that has such a severe electrical stumbling block makes me very uneasy. From the pictures you can see the truck is in pretty darn good shape (looow miles, 4x4, auto) , plus the guy just had both the headliner and bench seat reupholstered. Considering all the factors, price not included, would a comanche with a c101 connector deter you from getting this truck? Or any other truck for that matter? http://knoxville.craigslist.org/cto/3613398681.html ftpiercecracker

Do you think this would work? http://nashville.craigslist.org/pts/3560108912.html My main concern would be the wiring harness.

I have looked high and low for one with no luck so i figured i would see about here. I still am unsure if any 4.0 will work, but i do know any 4.0 from 87 to 90 will work comanche/cherokee. I just need a good used motor, no acc, as i have all of them for both, Renix and HO. Doesnt even have to come with a head, so long as all the internals are sound and still in 100% functioning order. Mileage must be less than 200K. For a motor that has 150 or less and comes ready to go, oil pan to valve cover, again acc not included i would be willing to pay $450-$500. I can travel and do have means to load an engine. Critria: less than 200K miles, 100% running condition, less than $500 thanks fellas FYI, i am located smack dab in the middle of Tennessee, Nashville is about 90min away for me. Which is the farthest i would be willing to drive without a significant drop in price.

For a DD you can't beat it with a stick, at least as far as reliablility is concerned. But it has the same problems as it is a 2wd comanche and then some. Its so underpowered, mix a 1.9l 4cyl and a 4spd transmission and you get the doggiest little truck ever produced, not joking. The engine itself will probably never die, but right now it has a leaking heater core, some electrical problems(intermittent HL, TL, and DL), no inner door handles, and a small exhaust leak. In its current state i would be hard pressed to get 900 out of it. What really stinks is that it doesnt get that great of fuel milage, best i have ever gotten (high way) was 22 mpg.

No. :( Link works fine for me, :dunno:

Ok so i called the guy with the white 4x4 auto. http://knoxville.craigslist.org/cto/3531739865.html Currently he wants 3500, way to much for me right now. So i shot him 2000, didnt take. Then he asked if i had anything to trade. Hmmmm, what do i have that worth something, that i want to get rid of like the plague? Told him about the pup, seemed interested, sent some pictures and he said he would be willing to trade for 2K and the truck. Again, i'm thinkin, aint gonna happen, i tell him 1250 and the truck is the best i can offer, a little more than i wanted to offer but i didnt want to keep the pup anyway. He politely declines and says he will have to pass for now, i let him know if he changes his mind my offer still stands. Either way it was a good exercise in deal making, even though we couldnt reach an agreement. Darn and i really liked that truck. :( Until next time.

Absolutely killer deal for 1,800 , regaurdless of it not actually being "loaded". -
Maybe we should start a comanche fanatics only site. :brows: EDIT: damn, just read the last line of you post. But seriously, it is getting rediculous.

Oh Hell ya! That would be awesome, didnt even think of that. :rock on: But you gotta ditch that VHS.

Noob Here W/an 87 Comanche
ftpiercecracker1 replied to 54bobby's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Damn that thing looks show room new, super nice. What did you end up giving for it? -
I would gladly give that and another grand to have his MJ. Ya, the isuzu is a great little truck for some old fella whos only need for a bed is to get the occasional bag of dog food for his 100 year old basset hound. Its the proverbial "old man" truck. Now if it were a diesel i could have sold it 10 times over by now, but at the same time i probably would never get rid of it, those things get like 35-40 mpg.
-
I have been driving around a POS (actually super reliable) 1.9l 2wd, scraps its azz on the ground, isuzu p'up, mines identical to this in everyway except 3in lower to the ground I am about ready to pop. While it does run like a freaking top (70k original miles), it has: no radio, a leaking heater core, a leaking radiator, intermittent headlights, tail lights and dash lights, no inner door handles, no power steering, or enough power to get out of its own way. And it gets stuck in wet grass. :headpop: Oh and the previous owner used aluminum roofing paint and hardware cloth to cover the rust holes that make up 80% of the trucks body. I still have my MJ, buts its in a thousand pieces and i simply do not have the time to put it back together. I can't even find an engine to replace the one i pulled. So i have been scouring craigslist for the last two weeks. I really under esitmated how addicting these little trucks are, its all i want to drive now. :driving: Here are two i am looking at. . . http://knoxville.cra...3531739865.html http://greenville.cr...3484050457.html But they are both asking way to much (2200-2400 max), and the black one is just to far away. My criteria: working 4x4, 100% ready to drive condition, clean title, less than 170k miles. Things that i would be willing to pay more for, working a/c and automatic My current truck has everything i want except for an auto. So i could easily swap the stuff i want over.

If you have the $$$ to actually do the things you have planned I have a very hard time understanding why you would want to keep the 2.5. Even turboed it probably won't be more powerful than the 4.0 or even close for that matter.
