97+ Limited Leather Buckets in an MJ
mpace6a replied to mpace6a's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yeah I'm figuring that out. I'm just going to try to set the seats in there as square as possible, and make my own feet to weld on. Best option i see. -
97+ Limited Leather Buckets in an MJ
mpace6a replied to mpace6a's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yeah, thats what i meant with the measurement. I may try that instead, just weld on some bar to make it work -
And now I remember posting it. We discussed why I didnt start a discussion about the MJ using the for sale bike as a convo starter....oh well. Still cool.

All these threads I see about odd MJs (stepside, tandem axle, the reoccuring Jet MJ) reminded my I have pics of a stepside MJ i can't remember if i posted. Searched my threads, didnt see it, so figured I'd post them (again?) Not sure why he put a factory bedliner in it, since the bedliner is molded for the wheel wells. But his build, not mine.

Having some issues putting the Leather buckets out of a 97+ Limited XJ (not 100% sure of the year, buddy in TX pulled them at a JY for me, but the tilt mechanisms are the same as the 2 door tilts i pulled from a 97 xj here) Having trouble swapping the sliders over using this writeup i found here. Basically, the slider rails are much further apart than the feet on my bench (12" on the sliders vs 8" on the bench feet) Any way i can bolt these up without drilling my floor or cutting the feet off of one and welding them on the other? Worried about keeping the seats straight if i cut/weld or put new studs in the floor. Ideas?

^Yep. Especially if youre at your wits end with it like I am. Id like to sell it right now, but nobody would buy it for my asking price. Guess I'm keeping it.

:yeah that: The poisonous ones around here are all copperheads and moccasins. Usually deal with them with the .22 or a shovel, whatevers handy. Leave the rest alone to deal with more annoying pests.

2.8 Fuel Pump Options, Round 2
mpace6a replied to mpace6a's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The Holley was mounted under the bed, as close to the tank as I could get it, while being as far from the exhaust as possible. In line filter between tank and pump, and another in the engine bay before the carb so I could easily see if it was flowing or not. I'll probably get another mr gasket to get back on the road and work on a 4.0 pump later. Jeepco, would I be able to make an xj pump and sender work? Or do I need one from an mj? Edit: Nevermind on that last question, re read the previous responses. Gonna pull my sender and compare to my brothers XJ and see what i can do. -

Thanks Jeepco, I'm going to look into this more. I'm not sure i can stand the noise of the inline pump any more. -

That sounds like a great idea. I would still need an mj sending unit though, right? -
2.8 Fuel Pump Options, Round 2
mpace6a replied to mpace6a's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thats the first pump I tried Neohic. The 4-7 psi model couldnt keep up with the engine, went through 4 of them in 3 months. Thats when i bought the holley. No. Carbuerated engine that originally had a mechanical pump on the block. -
2.8 Fuel Pump Options, Round 2
mpace6a replied to mpace6a's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yeah the 2.8 originally had a mechanical pump, but i bought it with a blown motor, and just put a new 2.8 in from an s10. New engine was tbi, swapped all the carb stuff over, but it didnt have the hole in the block for the mechanical pump which is why i got the holley. The holley was ungodly loud, louder in the cab than my exhuast (no cat, no muffler, side pipe), and i don't really want to spend $120 on another pump thats going to be that loud and not last a year. -
So the holley red series I put on my MJ died after 10 months. Anyone have any other ideas for fuel pumps that might last a year this time?

We wheeled my buddy Mikes old xj on some land out in lees summit. Been through deeper creeks, but hydro locked his motor anyway. Blew a baseball sized hole right above the exhaust manifold on the #1 cylinder. Turned into a long night

Need to go to a yard tomorrow anyway, ill snag a few, if any that are there, if none ill pm you hornbrod

Its what oreillys carries. I first tried replacing the short cable and it made no difference, thats why I bought this replacement and its listed as for jeeps without cruise. I installed it, and it works, but its a bit long and clicks.
-
Thanks guys, that was the problem. I bypassed the module and now my "high/low" setting is slow and slower. Is it worthwhile to try finding a new replacement, assuming theyre still available?
-
I'm doing away with the cruise sensor. It does me no good since my truck doesnt have the rest of the cc components. Any way to make this cable lock into the back of the speedo without getting creative with zip ties?
-
I have intermittent wipers so ill check that now. Where exactly is the module? There's a lot of stuff under the dash that I don't know what it is
-
This is what I'm assuming is the speedometer end, but it does not lock into place like the old one, although it seems to fit perfectly on the speedos input
