  1. Uhaul was huge back in the 80s. The one I worked at in Largo FL had a custom hitch builder on site, if we did not have it in stock he built it. RVs were a big deal at the time and we stayed busy. I only installed the pre-built hitches while he installed his custom ones. It is not as complicated or engineered as you guys make it out to be. May also be a generational thing too, you guys in your 20s and 30s don't' use your imagination, if it's not 'engineered' on a computer then it must not be so.
  2. Yeah that first set looks pretty good thanks.
  3. Wow, very cool. :)
  4. http://desmoines.craigslist.org/cto/2605696938.html You know your local economy better than me but I can tell you that little is moving right now. That's gonna be an expensive cap. I just scrapped a Cherokee and got about $300 for the iron. $75 for the Chrysler rear, $75 for my 2w AX5. But I only paid $500 for it so my swap only cost me $150 (not including a butt-load of new parts). Up to you but plan on sitting on it a while. The 411 gears are worth something........maybe to you. That front axle I would not have though. Maybe some good interior parts? Your call.......but you aint' gonna get rich.
  5. Any kind of take-offs? Cash or trade?
  6. I found It at Advance Auto Parts the part number I used was 03269. I had to use an 89 Cherokee to look it up for some reason they don't show it under an 88 Comanche or Cherokee. I have installed it and it fits fine. Thank you.
  7. Do you have any contact info for Trent Brazan. Would like to look into this deal. Trent Bazan ;
  8. Round E TN 2x4 in decent shape about $4000. I went of Atlanta to get mine, 4x2 with 2.5 in very good condition and only 5K on the engine. $2500. Now 4X4.
  9. I'm in the process of making my own from scratch, better that way. :) I ran a new dome light circuit last week and included the under dash lights with new pillar lights last weekend. Better than trying to figure out what the PO chopped up.
  10. My front one just run up the firewall just below the cowl and is zip tied along the way. Plastic vent is inserted at the end of the hose.

  12. http://tampa.craigslist.org/hil/pts/2594580273.html Looking for a deal like this in the TN, KY, NC area. I used to live in Tampa but the travel no longer makes this any kind of a deal. Have barter offer- http://www.akfiles.com/forums/showthread.php?t=92976 Looking for Ravines with good 30x9.50x15. Canyons are OK too. 5x4.5
  13. Where did you find it? I need the same one.
  14. 4" angle grinder........you'll destroy the wheel but........ Cut off stud then grind down without hitting the hub, did that on my Cherokee donor. Impact and breaker with pipe would not budge. Someone used Ford wheels and Jeep lug nuts and nut was too large for the Ford wheel but they ran it in anyway.
  15. SWB 2.5 AX5 NP231 D35 = 47.25" I just had a new one built.
  16. I disconnected mine at the trans......useless and annoying.
  17. Others can decide for themselves........I'm not here to argue with an engineer. But then......... Start with the inherent flaws of the frame it's attached to then. The premise of the test you performed is flawed because it does not look at the whole picture and over engineering one portion of a complex equation does not a problem solve. Also look at gearing, horse power, weight distribution, weight of vehicle to weight of cargo/trailer, braking, trailer braking, transmission etc.... Whether it be Reese or DrawTite or any other manufacturer would have considered all these factors. Also a ClassIV is a completely different animal........not anything like the ClassIII you are testing. ClassIV is chassis mounted in the bed much like a fifth-wheel but uses a 3" ball. There is more here that some kind of Cad test program of one portion of the whole.
  18. Wow! you guys are blowing this way out of proportion........... Class three is rated at 500lbs tongue and 5000lbs gross. Class three is over rated for the MJ in a practical sense. 1200lbs will never be applied........if loaded correctly 400lbs will not be applied in most cases........typical 12' UT or 20' boat etc... I used to install for U-haul many years ago and the Drawtite design you guys are working here will is more than adequate. I'll be fabing my own over the winter. Also consider the frame you are attaching it to. Scott
