  1. Ditch the plastic valve cover and get one off a 91 and up Wrangler, and the proper rubber gasket....no more leaks. Its not the gasket leaking, its the cover warping.
  2. slow start on progress now that its warm....I did change my busted accelerator cable, and purchased a MIG welder....Teaching myself how to weld, and then tackling the body panel rust.
  3. It does seem a little too nice to become a donor.....Id re-sell it and get something worth chopping up.
  4. Weldwood contact cement for the carpet. It's extremely aggressive tack, but can be reversed with heat. Used to use it all the time building trade show displays...bonding carpeting to display floors. -Erin
  5. Nice. I looked at the higher priced units (and could not afford) but this one seems to get good reviews....Plus, it just got some rave review in popular mechanics?
  6. Almost unheard of these days.
  7. Decided to buy myself a welder for my Birthday today....Get some practice in, and then do all the body panels on the MJ. :jump:
  8. Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner on the question. I paid $25 for mine. Good to hear you got one!
  9. Found, purchased, and in my hot little hands. Thanks Hornbrod.
  10. Call these guys....Jordan MN. They had another cover when I bought mine. They may have a spare. Pack Rat Garage (651)964-8301
  11. JENSSEN....I think I have it covered. I have a couple leads, I'm going to look into tomorrow. Truck is still functional....I have the end of the cable safety wired to the throttle body at the moment, and am going to head to the u-pull-it soon to see if I can find the end clip. I'm pretty sure the only cable that will work is specifically for the 89-90 2.5L. The 4.0 cable is too short. I will report back what I find out. (or at least if I got one.) -Erin
  12. It looks correct, and the measurement is correct. I will call them and see if they actually have it. I'm skeptical. But, thanks! Btw...How did you find this....Its telling me it does NOT fit my 1990 comanche....? -Erin
  13. This is not the cable, but the clip on the end of the cable I'm looking for looks like the one in the photo. It holds the cable to the throttle body. Anyone?
  14. IF anyone has a spare clip at the cable end (engine side) please PM me.
  15. lsmurphy...that cable is incorrect! Its the same cable RockAuto sells. It is 10 inches too short! Ive already been down this route. Next stop is the u-pull it, to see if another XJ has a spare clip.....Grr. -E.
  16. I just don't see how it is possible without having a custom made cable. The ends are specific size/shape/orientation. I suppose if mine really went, I could adapt a bicycle cable end and braze it on....I think all I'm missing is the clip at the throttle body. Anyone?
  17. Better yet, I think Only the CLIP is missing/broken...anyone have a spare CLIP???
  18. Seriously? Ive done TONS of bicycle work (similar type of cable) and so far, there are no alternatives to getting correctly made cables. Have you seen the cable in question? I'm all for being creative, but some things are just not possible. Edit...With all of these 2.5 to 4.0L swaps going on, someone has to have an extra...?
  19. Hey Folks, I posted a while back about availability of a 2.5L accelerator cable. I found one online, only to find out, they cannot get it. I am now out of options. NOBODY has this cable!!!! GRR! Does anyone have a good used cable with the "end clip" that they would sell me. My cable is on its last leg (safety wired to the throttle body!) And, this is my DD! Help! -Erin p.s.- There seems to also be confusion on the length of the cable. My cable is 35.75" long.
  20. There is that....It depends on the day whether or not I think it'll make it across town down here.
  21. Keeping an eye on this thread. Maybe I'll have most of the truck's issues sorted out by then.
  22. Hey Folks, Id like to trade a set of american racing rims (currently on my MJ) for a set of steel jeep "rally rims" I'll get a photo up tonight of my AR rims. I'm in MN. -Erin
