next time. :hmm:

knowing what I now know about the power steering pump, I could probably do the next one in under 2 hours.... :wrench:

For the life of me, I could not get in to get the back bolts out of the power steering pump to remove the bracket. Also, all the bolts were pretty rusted up. This is the original OE water pump. I also do not have small hands. I did take a small break. Dunno. It just took a long time. All fixed now. I had to replace both radiator hoses also, and can see the thermostat hoses are going to be next.

I think I could do it in 2.5h next time. That power steering pump is a special treat to remove. :fs1:

Day 2, round 2. Got the correct length bolt installed and re-assembled the fan clutch and shroud....Only to find the upper radiator hose leaking! Grr. Back to the parts store....I think I finally have it licked. No leaks so far..... -E. -

And then the water pump went out....5 hours to change it out. A slight pain in the butt. Jeep changed the casting at some point to use longer bolts, so....I was almost done, and am 1 bolt short of getting the new pump completely done. Out for bolts tomorrow morning. -
Just thought Id vent. 5 hours today to change the water pump. The Power steering pump has to come completely off as well as the mounting bracket for the power steering pump, as the last bolt for the PS bracket is dead center behind the pump. Ugh. On top of that, jeep redesigned the casting on the water pump to use longer bolts. Something I did not realize till almost 8:00pm. (auto parts stores closed!) The bolts I had were useless. Still not done..... -Erin

Drivers side outer window wipe?
lexluthier72 replied to lexluthier72's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Cool thanks! Bummed about the scratched window, but I suppose I should be lucky, its not in my line of vision, and its not broken.... -E. -
Hey All....I'm not sure how, but one of my clips is bent for the outer window wipe, and scratched the drivers side window. Do I need a wipe and clips from a 2, or 4 door cherokee? Thanks. -E.

jeepcoma: Do you remember if any, what kind of re-work your new rocker panels needed to make them fit? I got my panels from C2C. -Erin -

D35 leaking again..../D44 upgrade
lexluthier72 replied to lexluthier72's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I've had crappy luck when it comes to the D35. Ive been through 3 axle rebuilds in my previous 99 xj and this will make the 2nd pinion seal in the MJ. (IF its under the shop warranty) I do not wheel my MJ....(its stock 2x4) I just want a rear axle that won't continuously have issues. I also do not care if it has drum brakes or disc. (drum brake would be easier) Heck, if I could find a non C-clip D35 even that would be a better option than what I have....I also do not want to ditch the MJ. (its a great truck minus the rear axle issues) -E. -
