  1. Scouts are cool. And if they did it little better, it would be really cool.
  2. Take the fenders off, then jsut use a regular torx bit. Failing that, cut the lower third of the hinge off. Then you can take the doors off whenever you want!
  3. Which, doesn't do anything. As is the nature of TB spacers. Renix performance is somewhat elusive. I mean, you can run a aftermarket header, no exhaust, and a HO head and the newer manifold (2000+ IIRC), and you'll still only be a little over 200 Crank HP. Not wheel HP. That's about 140 to the ground. But, if you really want to spend the dough and make it scream, yeah, it's possible.
  4. Yeah, umm, I don't want a fancy upgraded rebuilt alt. Because I KNOW it will get trashed, probably sooner rather than later. I NEED a donor that will work with the renix, that's it. I don't care about the case, or the pulley, or anything else.
  5. Yes, that wonderful little spinny thing that keeps the headlights bright, and the FI doing whatever it does. We need to talk about it. As in: What's the best option for renix 4.0's as an upgraded alt? The maximum stock size is either 100A or 105A (depending who you talk to). I'm shooting for 120A+. Pricey aftermarket options or custom rebuilds are out of the question, as I have a tendency to blow alts... How is the output controlled? Is this system compatible with that which is used in HO 4.0s, and ZJs? Obviously the cases are different (doesn't bother me too much yet). How about the popular swap with the HO engines which uses a 160A dodge alt? This would obviously work only if you could make a HO alt work with the renix. Blah. Double D ate it's alt on saturday, and the MJ's alt is in it's place right now...
  6. Some people think I'm weird, because I always go and touch all the old iron. But then, most of my friends do the same thing.
  7. Just get a 2wd and swap all the crap over from you XJ. It's easier in the long run. Maybe. Other than the rear driveshaft. And if I was starting from scratch, I'd be looking for a solid cab and that's it. Everything else just gets in the way and would drive the purchasing price up. Although, parts can always be sold off... But my idea of a rig differs from yours!
  8. Yeah. No matter how hard you try you'll get covered in oil. Buy kitty litter first. It's awkward to get it later. And if you have a SO, a really good soap (and lots of it).
  9. That part is riveted in, IIRC. I never took it out on mine. You have to tear the whole steering out.
  10. Check out the projects section, CW built a swing out carrier. But yeah, I just chuck it in my bed. Er, strap it down.
  11. Or, jsut take the damn head off and have it dipped...
  12. My 4banger MJ had 0W-30 in it when I bought it. I dunno, the whole '0W' part of that scares me.
  13. I know a way... You only need about 20 feet of chain (2 peices), a hi-lift, and something to anchor off of... At your own risk.
  14. Yeah, but who has the gauge. Basically, tighten it like Oizarod115 said, and hope for the best.
  15. Umm, yeah, uh, I kinda doubt that switch is rated for the amperage of the fan. Welcome to electrical fires...
  16. Yeah, they redesigned the HO head, and put the ports in the wrong place. I think you can still bolt it up though. It's either the header or the manifold that doesn't work.
  17. At least he's raising his daughter right. (I'd tell you a story, but it would really take this thread downhill. I mean, from where it is even.) Oh, and leaky gaskets are an 'automatic oil changing system'. All you have to do is add a bit more every now and again.
  18. I'd guess all. I mean, the 2.8 is a chevy V6. The 2.5 is a I4 thingo that's been around a while. And the 4.0 is an I6 designed (basically) by AMC back in what, '62?
  19. When he says 'modding' he means cut the unibody and inner fenders off flush with the front of the cab, and make new frame rails in the front, and bend up some tube to hang the sheetmetal from. While you're at it, he strongly advises chopping the rear off, and again adding more tube, and a full exo cage.
  20. I expected better of you! Where's the .500 wall HSS for bumpers? You know it's tempting... (Although, basically to hit something hard enough to bend .250 wall, you've probably already screwed up so bad it doesn't matter!)
  21. My 89 is wired for it, I think. Was wired for it. Or something. I found a connector in there somewhere that looked like it was the right one. But yeah, can't tell, don't use any of the stock crap when I don't need to.
  22. So, from the factory you weren't supposed to get a driver's side floor?
