As anyone else heard of this? Apparently the government is building a highway from Mexico to Canada to allow other countries to by-pass American tax laws for shipping goods through the country. It doesn't make sense to me, but several websites are talking about $200b+ in apportioned funds and no Americans will be allowed to drive on it. Oh, and no pesky customs inspections to slow down traffic. If this is real I am very concerned, but if not could someone please tell me where to look. Snopes.com, wikipedia, and none of the news sites have ANYTHING regarding details to this project.

Legal definition of 'totaled' is for salvage - you can't have your cake and eat it too. If an insurance company does do this expect there to be a big hoopla when the underwriters find out as it constitutes fraud on behalf of the company. The only time I have ever seen this done was when a friend had his Skyline impounded as part of a criminal investigation of the company - a bad day for him. As an ex-salvage broker I can tell you that salvage title vehicles are tough to inspect on purpose, you have no idea how many people try to skirt safety regulations in an attempt to drive something beyond their means. As for insurance though, in "most" states its against the law for an insurance company to charge you more for a salvaged vehicle vs. regular if all safety, theft, and emissions testing have been completed. And if you have "liability only" there should be absolutely no cost difference between any vehicle (be it Z06 or Mj) because the value of the vehicle has nothing to do with the coverage you're paying for. Depending on what your looking for out of your truck it is a very smart move to make to have it totaled and buy it back - jeeps have virtually no re-sale anyway so a salvage might loose you a few bucks down the road. If you keep it forever, or completely mod it, you'll lose the value anyway.

Very nice rig - I'm partial to white, but you might want to consider some bigger foglights...

You indicated a right hand turn and then changed your mind and he's the asshat? Sorry, sounds to me like there were two people dancing that tango. Sorry about your truck, but judging from the pics you should be able to fix most of that with a new toliet plunger and ballpen hammer.

That's classic!

My wife tolerates the Mj as a necessary addiction. She realized I had an incurable problem when I brought the Duece home so she sees the comanche as a "little" and inexpensive hobby... at least realitivly speaking. But she too thinks old = unreliable and REALLY wished the manche would stop leaking on... *ahem* her driveway.

New bulbs, new relays, new fuse box, new rear tailight wires... Signals work for about 100 miles and then stop blinking (or like today stop working altogether.) Can't pin it down, but cops know me and this needs to be fixed quickly. Any suggestions?

If you haven't seen it you have to watch the show. Its *very* british and a little anti-american, but its probably the funnest car show ever created. They come up with some seriously hysterical [****.] Lets see, they've had: A soccer game using Mini's Man vs. Car - who can survive the colder temperature Veyron vs. Airplane across europe Putting a fireplace in a new mercedes Making a minivan a convertable Plus there's the Stig... no words can describe the Stig
-
The infamous Top Gear Toyota... That was seriously impressive to watch back when it was happening. They hung the carcass up in their studio and if you watch the show regularly (like I do) you can see it rusting away week-to-week.

Toss up between Dove Grey and Dark Royal Blue ..... But I own a red one......

Its not a typo. A buddy of mine had one for a few years and he always complained about $100 fill-ups (back when gas was $1.15/g) It only gets about 10mpg too which makes it double painful. But they were legitimate range-rover contenders for their day. Lambo wanted a military contract so they pulled out all the stops. If you look hard enough you can find these pretty cheap (for a lambo.) All my GIJoes had one... Barbie was a high maintainence chick back in the day.

wow... this is turning out to be quite the game. I don't want tp hyjack Johns thread so I'll just rattle them off: 89 Comanche, 06 Mustang, 99 Viper, 03 Escape (wife's,) 02 Focus (bro-in-laws,) and 00 Ram V10 4x4 (pre-SRT.) I should have taken a pic when I still had the other Mj, Wagoneer, Satellite, del Sol, and BMW, looked like a dealership - no one would have been able to guess all of them........... i think.

Hmmm.... $11,000 for this: Or $11,000 downpayment on this: ... decisions, decisions...

The problem I have with bracket racing is the same one I have with Nascar - with enough money you can compensate for skill.

Ya got two right, one close, and one way off...

On mine the concrete and asphalt were over $10,000..... .....each. But looking at yours, and depending on what you want it shouldn't cost nearly as much as mine. Conrete is awesome, asphalt is nice, but common stone or shell with base is very cheap and easy.

I'm sorry, but I cannot stand that show. As a recovering street racer it bugs the the snot out of me that anyone with a superior car will volunteer handicapping when its obvious there is something at stake. When you race for pinks on the street (or at the track for that matter) to take what you got to the mat. If your civic can't match the 1000hp chevy then you lose the car... no BS'in about how many lenghts the chevy is willing to concede. Hell, the only time I have EVER seen a volunteer handicap was when a T/A took on an S2000. The T/A guy gave the count of two because he knew it was pretty much going to be a slaughter - purse there was "only" $500. ... What some people are willing to pay to get on TV....

As a waterhog myself the first thing comes to my mind is hydrolock.

Very first rule of modifcation - no aftermarket part is worth more installed. Sixth rule of depreciaction - aftermakret parts are generally worth 0.10$ of every dollar on resale.

Wow... can that front plate be any more reflective? Maybe if mountain climbers had those bad boys strapped to their backs we wouldn't have so many missing these days.

Lets see... 1st - Blu) Got from my Uncle after he traded up. 2nd - Gracie) Found in the back of a dealership awaiting auction 3rd - Scarlet) Stranded Mj on side of road - stopped to help, bought the truck. 4th - Raven) Ebay 5th - Carmine) Craigslist 6th - Sapphire) Local newspaper ad Local papers and ebay always seem to have at least one for sale. Mine has been for sale for a long time, but I've realized I'm never going to get my asking price.

Depending on the course cars rarely see their top end on the track (notiable exception is Paul Richard with it's 2-mile long back straightaway.) What makes a great road racer is balance through the corners and torque for exiting the turn (decent brakes don't hurt either.) Don't get me wrong, the 911, 996, and 997 are all nice cars, but unless you do some serious modification they are not good road racers. If you can get close enough to a porsche in the corner there is nothing that driver can do but watch you pass after the apex (unless he wants to hit you of course.) Now if the striaghtaway is long enough the porsche might be able to rev you out by the end, but I don't see that often with a mostly stock car. Its not great at road racing - SRT Reg cab can only defeat the likes of Porsche boxters and 911s, NXSs, BMW 3 series, mustang GTs, and miatas. If you're looking for something with bettering handling you will have to stick with mid-size. If all goes well with my finacing I plan on racing an SRT ram in the Michellen Corvette challenge in 2009... I'd be in the blue group with super stock C4 vettes, stock C5s and prepared S2000s. This is a buddy of mine who races his stock (other than a bolt-on supercharger - no other mods) SRT ram in the NASA series at Hastings Park. There is a great vid somewhere of him slaughtering that SC acura in the first pic. Another friend ran an unoffical 3:02 at VIR in his QC. Oh... and no other truck is currently considered fast enough or track-safe enough to run NASA or VRL including Lightning or Syclone.

Ummm... The "Sport" option package really doesn't have anything to do with performance - it's an appearence/option upgrade. The "SRT" package comes in two flavors: Reg and QC. The reg cab is a V10/6spd with a top speed of 154mph and is a fair hauler. The 6spd isn't the best for towing or heavy weights. The QC (which is offered here) has max towing options - it is a hauler. The raffle truck was signed by everyone on the production line and coem with certification from DCX. As for the lightning thing all I can say is - whatever. The offical lightning 1/4 time was 13.8 - the SRT QC is 14.2. The SRT QC is a V10 four door truck with a class 3 hitch, the lightning was an F150 with a supercharger. But here's the thing - if you can find a lightning, or syclone, or 454SS for $100 with 0 miles and a full warranty then please don't let me stand in your way. Spreading the word around - if you want in buy early because our raffles have a way of selling out unrepentantly. The ViperClub of America (of which I am a paying member) has been given permission to raffle off the very last SRTRam QC ever to be made. The last one off the line - period! Not only that, but it's a one-of-400 built "Night Runner" packages. There will only be 2750 tickets sold so the highest odds of winning are 1:2750. This is a raffle benefiting our club so, like with any raffle, the winner will be responsible for taxes and any shipping fees. The coolest thing about this raffle is that its the first time the club is allowing non-members to participate so this means anyone can join in the fun! Tickets are 1 of $100 or 3 for $250. Up for raffle: 2006 Dodge Ram Quad Cab SRT "Night Runner" The very last SRT Ram truck off the production line. Black on Black Viper V10 - Automatic (great towing vehicle) Raffle forms are on the link below - you must print the page and fax the information in. Additional information can be found on the www.viperclub.org website or the phone number provided. http://www.viperclub.org/vca/vcaramraffle.pdf
