  1. Shrink it , check the properties after for size until it fits . Yes , a PITA but I had to do the same thing . Of course , you can always download it from photobucket by attaching the link (off site) . Remove the "" on the start and finish of the link once you have it pasted before submitting or it will not go through . I just changed mine this way no prob about size
  2. Rock auto is a good place to shop for sure . Sometimes it's even worth my while to ship things from there vs local suppliers , there can be quite a price gap here in Canada . No , you don't have to weld anything provided the pipes fit together . The factory didn't . You could always use adapters if you had to . I have a cheap flaring tool that I use to "tweak" the ends so the fit better , but , I also weld . Use a high temp silicone liberally on each joint to help seal it and you will be good clamped . No worries , it's not going to burn off . Just wait till it's set-up before firing up :brows: Even if you could get it pinned together , you could always take it somewhere to be welded after for minimal cost . If you plan on getting it welded , don't bother to seal the joints with silicone . Always check out how much the garage would want to do something ahead of time , you might find out it's cheap enough to have them tack it together properly
  3. I bought the 3 pk from IRO for $95 or $99 . Frt- 27" RR-21" These are the plastic shielded stainless steel lines with proper ends . Never got them installed just yet , but , if like the effect I got on my Grand Cherokee , SS lines do firm up the pedal and give slightly better braking .
  4. You won't find a complete kit , but you will find all the individual parts for about $200 or less at rockauto.com . $800 is a retarded price , even for here in Canada . My ZJ 3" exhaust from the cross-over back was $350 with a Magnaflow muffler , and chrome tip . No cat though . You could look into a local "no-name " exhaust shop and get it done for about 1/2 to Midas touch , lol .
  5. I have no experience with "Motion" , but will advise you call in , ask about part stock and shipping times . Then expect the vendor to hold up on their end . I never order off any web-site other than ebay without calling first and generally ordering on the phone . My last parts order was from Minnisota(spelling?) Ordered it 3pm Friday , it had to be shipped out within 10 mins to catch the courier and it was(I think 5 pm there) . My parts arrived that Monday afternoon in Edmonton,AB Canada . That's the type of service I like and why I always shop IRO before looking elsewhere .
  6. You should still mask off the paint around the trim to prevent any damage , ie: scratches , while removing the trim :brows: . And double tape for extra safety ;) . Some clips are a pain . Slightly on topic , I wonder how hard it would be to convert to the new style XJ rubber moulding . I know I saw it in someones build somewhere , but not the process . Probably just a matter of trimming the tabs for the old clips . Thought I'd throw it out there if your not stuck on OEM .
  7. On jeep forum , there must be hundreds of happy IRO customers with their front track bars . There also use to be a thread about the bad RRO experience . There were hundreds of unhappy customers Rusty's had some issues with breaking track bars a few years back . I think it's since been fixed , but , as much as my experience with Rusty's was very good , I still wouldn't want that product . Best , and beefiest track bar on the market is Clayton's . It's a double sleeved clevite bushing on the axle side which allows for little chance of play ever . The johnny joint side is freakin huge . It can be used with or without the bracket . The bracket is also pure beef . It's dropped quite a bit , lower than most (I have RE and Claytons) . Needless to say , it's also one of the most expensive . IRO's double shear with bracket hands down gets the best bang for your buck vote
  8. I would love to get into a ZJ phase, but can't stand the trans/t-case options. Having gone through a couple MJ's and a TJ, Right now I am on my third XJ (have 2 at the moment). I think I'll skip the ZJ and go straight to the 4.7 WJ, the 545re's are proving to be VERY dependable. I got bored with the ZJ habit , that's kinda why I'm here . The Comanche took my interests . 2 Trannys to look out for in a ZJ 42RE and 44RE's . My favorite yrs are 93-95 V8's and 98 w/5.9 . Those had the 46RH and 46RE(98) internally , these are the same transmissions used in the trucks . In all honesty , the biggest issues with any transmissions is lack of maintenance which leads to other issues . If you don't change your oil , the trans will wear the clutches faster , tend to clog/stick valves and filters , and with the Grands , plug up at the check valve(removed on both mine) . I also have drain plugs installed in any trans pan I drop so about 4-6 quarts can be changed without dropping anything (B&M makes them). Probably the hardest to find , and one of the most desired ZJ was offered in 93-94 in very limited numbers . That was a AX-15 driven ZJ . Not sure about exact production but it was very small , under 1000 for both years IIRC . Only offered with the 4.0 of course . Personally , I've grown fond of my V8 jeep's power . Took my MJ for 2 rides and already made up my mind that 2.5 has gotta go before I can start driving it . You can't knock the ZJ's for cushy comfort on/off-roading . No trouble to pack 4 ppl and all the gear to camp out . They do look prety cool all lifted and stuff , lol :D

  10. Good thing about this truck as it is there's very little chance anyone would ever steal it :rotfl2:
  11. :fs1: I always do things twice it seems Ok , got it all done except the w/sheild . Had it on the road and it's not too bad considering my home done alignment Issues to report : That cursed valve on the heater core line leaks , and , pretty good too . The power steering has a leak and the box has play , no biggie , I have a ZJ box , fully adjusted , and ready to go , it's even painted all purdy The really good news is the leak in the head gasket on the pass side . I pressure washed everything down , went 5 miles and it's all down the side of the block  On the bright side , I got a head gasket set with the engine when I bought it . Given my plan was to swap in the 4.0 and 98 harness and dash , seems like there's no better time than now . I'm pulling the XJ in the garage this weekend and removing the engine , trans , and case . The engine is junk , but the trans and case will be cleaned and painted , then laid aside . I may rebuild the 231 . I'll also be cleaning , painting , and refurbing the 98 intake and header in preparation . The XJ then goes back out before removing the wires . I have to bring the 91 MJ in to scoop the rebuilt 4.0 under the hood . Get it on the stand , and do a paint job , and some gaskets , and again , have it ready for the swap . After all that , pull the 2.5 from Dirty Harry , scrap the wiring and dash , clean , cut the firewall inserts and install for the conversion(going AC and ABS) route the wires , install the dash , drop in the new powertrain , install the HP 30 and convert the 8.25 to SUA , hope the 91's driveshafts work and figure out the fuel pump differences . Anyone know if the 91 tank and pump works ? I got me one of those :) Well that's the plan now , guess the wife won't get her truck this summer , maybe fall ? Yeah , I'll get pics of all the steps along the way :)

    Osama is Dead.

I'd love to comment , but damn , you'd probably hate me  As for the birth certificate fiasco , you guys certainly make a point . Why the delay ? I know where mine is :dunno: . Surely a man of his stature is organized enough to know where his personal paperwork is kept :smart: Sure hope he can travel without a passport cause who knows where that is :rotf: Partially , I think the pics have been held back to not piss off the Saudi's . The goverment would rather piss you off instead . Another thing , what's with all the poor quality video . Sweet jebus , does nobody have anything better than a 8mm . :hmm: The media is blowing this way outta proportion . They are really full of fluff sometimes . Just stirring the pot for ratings . Never forget that . This is turning into another Roswell , except although in black and white , Roswell had better pics and videos :rotfl2:
  13. RE's metal choice is one of the best , however , in recent years , the bushings were the issue . They got a bunch of junk bushings and sold them to loads of people . Not really their fault , just bad luck maybe , or cheap outsoursing . They were quite good about sending customers who reported issues , new bushings free of charge . The new bushings were updated and better . More on these bushings . Fault by design . I will say , you will not find a bushing any easier to change than RE's style bushing . Is that a good thing ? Yes , if you don't mind frequent changes (they tend to oval around the sleeve and cause poor handling charactoristics) If RE is under new management , I will say one thing . If you went back to a stock style bushing on your control arms and track bars , I would consider RE again in the future . No change , me never buy again . :wavey:
  14. Yeah , we only have one private Napa here in Edmonton . This one was corperate . Still , no excuse why I paid $7.95 this morning per bushing cmpared to $29.95 . That's 1/4 what Napa wanted . Your right though , ya gotta becareful .
  15. As said , I ordered my lines from IRO on Friday . They showed up on Monday . That's friggin great IRO  amazing service considering the distance the parts traveled . Latest thing , I ordered a upper control arm bushing from NAPA . Went to go get it ( had 1 new one at home) got charged $31.50....................................for one ? No thank-you , sorry I ordered it in . For one thing , I paid only $18 for the last from a different supplier but local , and that was too much . How could I buy that ? I can get 2 shipped for cheaper , again from IRO . I swear , the only automotive things I will buy locally anymore will be propted by a convienance basis only . They should put a new sign up at the boarder . "Welcome to :Canadaflag: , now bend over" :headpop:
  16. Couple more days , slight change of plans . I ordered some IRO brake lines (they came in yesturday) ordered 2 axle upper CA bushings but the listings only had lowers and I got the wrong ones , so , I won't get those till tomorrow morning now (bushings are way bad , really soft) Quite possibly a cause of the wandering . Well , figured if I'm doing all that , I need to pull and install the hp30 from the 98 XJ . I'm gonna try to get that in the garage and off tonite . Clean it , turn the heat on overnite and paint it before leaving tomorrow morning . Come home , pressure wash the MJ(new nozzle is at the post office:)) the old box is pretty dirty from the yrs and I missed that area when I last trailered the MJ to the car wash . Then I can install the shiney new box , reconnect the V8 ZJ steering and also the hp30 . Should look pretty sweet when I got it all back together . Pics will follow in my build thread but I'll comment on the difference on here . My steering box is pretty beaten , there's little to no return to center and it kinda binds then suddenly over steers . Good chance it's been over adjusted on the over the top adjustment . Plus the output has alot of play coupled with 2 signifigant oil leaks  I may have to get some new lines also .
  17. You won't be disappointed buying Iron Rock Off-road(IRO) I run their long arms on my ZJ , short arms on my 5.9 and MJ plus other parts from them . Customer service is about the best it can be . If your wondering , I ordered brake lines on Friday afternoon , they arrived today .
  18. 2007 Ram 3500 . Last of the 5.9's . Chipped 400+RWHP DD and work truck 1998 Grand Cherokee 5.9 . Headers , MSD ignition + box , Mopar perf PCM 110K right now 1995 Grand Cherokee 5.2 . Lot's of mods , performance and off road . Everything rebuild or replaced . Presently waiting for a rebuild on a HP30 to finish things off . 7" LA's frt and rear . Rear lift not added in pic , still at 4.5" on the rear . It's all there though , lol . 2006 Kodiak , 2000 Honda 200XR , 1982 125 Suzuki Dual purpose . Things a guy needs when the jeep can't get no further , lol . My present project and why I am on this forum , Dirty Harry . 1988 2WD 2.5/5spd Comanche . Still , lots to do :brows: . The blue car on the left is my wifes 06 Chev Aveo , not worthy of a pic , lol . Something I should never have sold . 1970 Chevelle , black bucket interior , 454 powered . This thing cost me $900 when I first bought it , sold it for over 10000 . It's since been repainted and last I knew , it listed for $25000 . I sold the car after I bought the BMW parked behind it . That was a sweet car too . Fast , very very fast :brows: . 1998 XJ and 91 MJ for parts vehicles , both still drivable .
  19. Pre load adjusted , over the top adjusted , now just wait for the paint to dry for a day
  20. Well , he won't have much issue with anything then . Nothing is tight to get at . The clutch install is simple , as is the slave cylinder . Biggest part of the whole job really is unbolting everything , and getting it back together . Make sure the bleed screw is loose on the new slave before you even install it . Mine was somehow siezed , snapped it right off first pull , after it was installed and ready to bleed :headpop: . Luckily got it to work using the old 23 yr parts :???: Given your pulling the trans (I did the engine{replacement}) Your probably gonna have to let the shifter lever go . Even that should be easy when the trans is dropped a little . Just 4 bolts . 2 rubber grommets your gonna want to reinstall , the CPS and the slave bleed line holes, make sure they get cleaned and put back in . Go easy on the suds too . Installing new parts gives one an urge to test them out once installed  Almost forgot . Gonna be dirty inside the bellhousing . Have 2 , even 3 cans of brake cleaner , a small brush with a handle , something to absorb the mess and a good assortment of rags .
  21. Thanks alot , now I have to start mine all over again after reading all 18 pages :fs2: Amazing build , simply amazing . :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:
  22. Depends on the situation , 4x4 or 2WD , tools , ramp , concrete floor vs dirt and beer . 3-6 hours depending on breaks and what's listed above
  23. Thanks for the reply . Ok , so I'll go ahead and swap them them . The valve your refering to is the one in the pressure line at the pump ? I ask because I just happen to have a ZJ valve kicking about here somewhere (ha , it was in my desk drawer) . I could do the swap right now :) . Either way , I'll get the box in tonite or tomorrow morning . I'll post the results up here for you . Having 2 ZJ's has come in handy having a bunch of spare parts :) . Only lift parts I had to buy were rear leafs , rear shocks and 3 brake lines .
  24. Just happen to have a ZJ steering gear in the garage . It's rebuilt with very low K . So I was going to drop it in the MJ since the steering feels like an old 60's truck . Question is will the MJ's 2.5l PS pump drive the new box ok or not ?
  25. I try to buy local when I can , but seriously , the customer service can really suck sometimes . Local jeep supplier incident #1(2008) Ordered a set of black steels for my Orvis when I bought it . I had 33's on stock wheels wth stock arms and it would rub the muds hard . Took a week but when they showed up , I was there , anxious to get my wheels installed . As I waited I could see my wheels , but he came out with a set of chrome wheels . "Eww , those are mine , mine are the black ones " he replied "oh , but there for someone else" I said "But I'm here , and they are paid for ." He replied " Sorry , that's all I can do unless you want to wait another 2-3 weeks for the next order" . I ended up taking them just to solve the rubbing issue , man , I hated those wheels , and wasn't too fond of this dealer either . They didn't stay on for long . incident #2 , same company(2008) Ordered a set of RE control arms . 2 weeks of waiting so , again , anxious to get them . I knew when they were coming so I arrived the afternoon of the shipment date . Sure enough , there's my parts , 20' away . "Sorry dude , never got unpacked yet . Gonna have to come back tomorrow" OK fine . It's accross town but what's is a day anyways . I go back the next day , again in the afternoon . "Sorry dude , never got unpacked yet ." It's Friday afternoon and I'm looking forward to doing this on the weekend . "What about tomorrow then" I asked , trying to keep cool. "I'll be here but I'm working on my own jeep , you'll have to wait till Monday" It was at this point where you decide to either spend some quality time in jail , or walk away , of course , I walked . Well , guess what happened to that company ? That's right , they closed the doors less than a year later . During a booming economy too . Hey , that's what happens when your too lazy to unpack your customer's orders that come in once or twice a month only , and , you put your own needs ahead of your customers . Incident #3 . (April,2011) . Different owner , new name , guess who ? None other than the counter guy from the other place who was responsible for screwing me around twice before . I knew this going in . No problem , things might be different now that he's got his own thing . Another dealer told me he makes brake lines and to go there . So I do , even though I have avoided this place like the plague . First trip in , no stock on the fittings . " I'll get 'em and have your lines this afternoon ." He said So , I wait till this morning , just because ya know how things go sometimes and now , it's an even longer trip to town . I arrive about 11am , same as the day before . "The fittings just came in" as they sit on the counter . Not sure I believed him or not . "No prob , I can wait" , it takes literally 5 mins per line . He makes them , no problem . Then , when the price came out , I swallowed pretty hard , 'thinking' damn , $120+ for 2 front lines . He says " let me check to make sure that's right" phew I thought , so here's my "in" , I jokingly commented "good , cause ouch , that's a little high" . At that same time I had laid a $100 and a $50 on the counter to pay anyways cause I did order them and really should have asked how much . That's when he replies "Why , where can you get them cheaper and how much ?" Iron Rock immediately came to mind . I think it was $60 for the 2 ZJ front's , maybe $70 tops , and that's what I told the guy too . $99 for all 3 . Now I didn't expect a price match . What he could have said was I can't touch that , how bout I knock off $5 , even , sorry man , that's the best I can do . Here's what he says instead "Well you should go order them online then" :huh???: Let's pause for some info . He has no recollection of past dealings . There's no animosity what so ever . So WTF !! How did this conversation turn into this all of a sudden . Fine , I'll play along. "Where the hell did that come from"I said"I came here to buy brakelines , I'm not even quabbling the price , just say it's a little expensive and your gonna send me away just like that ? I already got a short fuse for you buddy" I said , as I swiped my $150 back off the counter . "this is the 3rd and final time you get a chance to screw me over with your piss poor attitude . Just remember , this is the customer service that closed down the other shop . Enjoy your new MJ brake lines, and probably what will be your last year in buisness unless you miraculasly change your attitude toward cash paying customers" And I left , he mumbled something . Whatever he said , I didn't hear it , or need to , I already had enough dis-like for the guy , more would have been alot of trouble . When I came home , I ordered from IRO . I'll have them early next week and with delivery , and a rear line , I still saved a few $$$ . I was thanked very much for my repeat buisness and Kristen even said she would do her best to get them out that day , and , she did . Iron Rock Off-road rocks . There are few local choices , but the others are good , very good infact . Bear from Bear trax is just an idiot . Let me quote him " I'm sick and tired of doing everything for everyone " Spoken to a customer on the phone while I was in the shop . Now , let me ask you , is this the place where you would want to spend your money ? Customer service means alot to me , I didn't go into a shop with a handful of cash and expect to be treated rudely . I've spent easily $20000 in parts for jeeps in the past 3-4 years . This guy gave me 3 out of 4 issues I have had . I have only dealt with him 4 times . 4 issues over 4 yrs isn't a bad record when you have ordered so much , and the other guy's issue , was resolved easily . Yeah I let loose pretty quick on the guy . Who would have known , third time is a charm , lol . Rant over , thanks for reading
