  1. Nice truck. I love the license plate "bumpers" so it don't get damaged. So...you said 100 miles north. I live in Olympia, were abouts are you?
  2. My Grand flexed a little. Ramp pics before limiting straps...lol. Reality is past about 700-800 rti its all poser. You don't need much flex if your balanced right and can drive. Image Not Found
  3. I played around with it a little and got it working. It still hesitates to engage but it will engage. The t-case and axles are coming out anyway for better stuff so it works well enough for now. Took it on maiden voyage yesterday. Played a little, did well for a stock, open diff rig.
  4. I blame myself for not testing it prior to buying MJ, but what a pain this morning. I woke up to 3 inches of snow and the excitment of driving in it. Put the MJ into 4wd and ......nothing. Just spun up the hill driving sideways because it just stayed 2wd. Guess I'll be getting under it to see whats up later today. What a bummer...paid $3500 for a 2wd MJ....lol.
  5. I saw this one too. I can't believe the "negotiable" price...lol 15k and its got 154k on the odometer. Even if it had 30-40k original miles and original paint and grandpa owned it would be double over priced.
  6. working all day and then playing bingo with gf at local bar tonight. :wrench:

  8. Welcome. A bmx guy huh. I sold my first MJ to a fellow rider who wrecked it just days after I sold it to him. I use to race BMX for years, but now just dirt jump mostly. Our local trails are Dart (been featured in FOX videos a couple times when Taj M. lived here in Oly) Also we were the home of the short lived Thunderdome before our big earthquake here. I currently ride a 2010 Fit Chase hawk frame. Dart trails in Tumwater, Wa. Cheers, Jason
  9. Looking good! Always look great when everything is freshened up with paint.
  10. Dang....I just got a card. And she clearly hunted for one that was not mushy...lol. We got some fancy dinner plans for tomorrow night though.
  11. Thanks guys. I'm on Naxja. I'll check out the Cascade 4x4.. I don't think I'll have the comanche ready for any trips till Aug or so. Plan to have it ready by Moab trip in late Aug, so till then I doubt I'll wheel it till I feel its ready with axles, t-case and body armor. Cheers, Jason.
  12. I feel ya. It should look better porportion wise once I get the planned rear bumper done. I debated on the short and long bed option and decided It was most important to me to have the extra wheelbase. After having front digs on my last rig (and will on this MJ) I prefer a longer wheelbase as long as it has cutters and dig. I'll be glad on the big trips like Moab were wheelbase is a godsent. Cheers.
  13. Hello there, I'm Jason and I live in Olympia Wa. I own a 88 comanche pickup, my second comanche. You can see my build thread at viewtopic.php?f=7&t=28321 edit....new build.... http://comancheclub.com/topic/27668-h3resqs-dream-mj-the-build-continues/ I have lots of plans for this little truck. I have been a hairstylist here in Oly for the last 15 years. Was married, but now divorced. I also have been a avid BMX rider since my racing days as a kid. Eventually mostly just dirt jumping the last few years. I also snowboard and golf a bit. I've been wheeling for well over 10 years and have hit most trails from Wa to northern Oregon over the last few years. I have also wheeled Moab and the Rubicon. My first wheeler was a sidekick on yota axles, built for hard core wheeling and tough truck comps. Second was a luxury/comfort build to appease the wife. A WJ Grand with all the goodies. Now I am about to build this comanche into my next wheeler/driver. I'm looking forward to catching up with some other MJ enthusiests. Hope to see some of you out on the trail or mallcrawlin around town. Cheers, Jason.
  14. Thats my roommate's ride. Its a nice rig. Very understated till you get up close and really start looking at the work its had done. Donnie is also got a toyota wheeler. Thats why I ended up with that damn Marlin sticker on my back window...lol.
  15. Thanks, gotta give the credit to my buddy Donnie!
  16. Daytime pics
  17. got to the bondo and paint tonight. A unlucky spider found the bondo difficult and sticky to get out of. Taped and ready for some temporary paint Only shot of it tonight. I'll get some daytime photos of finished work tomorrow
  18. bobbed my longbed to shortbed length.
  19. Started by pulling bed and taking our measurments for cutting to short bed length. Started cutting the bed up Cut bed support out of leftover section to reinforce the conection area on bed. notched and clamped it in place. Started lining the bed up for re connection. Started tacking the bed into place Got the bed all welded up and ready for grinding. The it was time to start working on shortedning the frame. A 1/8 4x4 fit perfect. Next was working on the new mounts Added in a couple stiffeners for corners and to support tailgate mounts Then just welded everything up, ran wiring. Just have some gringing left to do and then the body work. Pics hopefully tomorrow of it finished
  20. I couldn't believe my eyes when guy off craigslist showed up at my place to buy canopy off my longbed in his minivan......lol.
  21. Starting bobbing the bed yesterday. Should have pics and info on how we did it soon. Its looking good. Took out over 15 inches to make it shortbed length, so some frame...err, unibody mods became more than anticipated. But want it right so were building new shackle mounts and frame supports as well as bed bob. Pics soon.

    local 5-0

 I miss living in the small town I grew up in. And, you just reminded me why.
  23. I think you mean the MJ? I paid $3500 for the comanche. And yes it was priced at $4500 I think. I paid to much for the truck but then again I looked at a few before buying this one. This one, while not perfect, is VERY solid with no dirt piled up in the corners or rot anywere. I'm happy with the truck and it was worth the money to me for what I wanted and my budget. Thanks, I miss that Grand. I had a ton of time, $, and sweat into that rig. I sold it during my divorce (and regret selling). I sold it to a gentleman Howard down in San Diego a couple years ago, and he recently sold it himself. So its still out there getting wheeled and enjoyed. Glad I didn't sell it local, would kill me to see it around town...lol. Cheers
  24. Beautiful truck. Really looking forward to watching this build/restore progress!
