  1. Have someone sit in your truck and slowly and evenly move the steering wheel back and forth just past its dead point. Check under rig while there doing this. Look at all your link ends, track bar, steering, joints, etc. etc. Allot of times this is a great way to spot anything that is loose. in the steering or front suspension.
  2. Well its not much of a place to wheel but ran up to Tahuya today to at least get a feel for the MJ. I'm pretty happy with it overall. I have more room in the rear for uptravel, So I'll shorten the rear bumpstops I put in. Eventually I'll lower the rig about 1.5 inches by removing the ACOS spacers and adding air bumps. In the rear I'll go with a shorter spring perch and a shackle relocation. It will need an anti-rock as well. Here are some pictures of Luke and I making the most of our Easter afternoon. Airing down... One of the small rock sections on the trails... A little spot to check the flex... and airing back up...
  3. Check to see if you lost a cap in one of your front axle u-joints. Also check your front and rear u-joints on driveshafts. Sometime if only one of your u-joints in the double side of driveline fails you will get intermitant clicking/popping.
  4. Awesome! Love the full overhead. Wish my conversion had that!
  5. Why do they keep making this crap. Why can't they just man up and put a bed on a jk. It wouldn't be that hard.
  6. There not, they are flared fenders and bedsides. Common use is on prerunners (like the blue one on this page) Nice touch. Looks like a sick truck with motor/tranny combo. Its ugly in my opinion though. Could however look better if it was any color than yellow and had some updated wheel tire package. flared fenders and fiberglass fenders are the same!!!!! I meant there not "stock", not that they were not fiberglass. This isnt tech....lol. I'll try to be more exact in my words next time...lol.
  7. Considering the condition, have you thought about just converting to disc brakes before getting any deeper into repairing the drums?
  8. Sweet...guess I did miss that post. Rig looks great, can't wait to get my air bumps.
  9. Damn!Gunna have to rip it off and go with square tubing. :wall: HaHa....square, not a chance.
  10. Got my synthetic winch line on last night!
  11. I agree....but I'm not done yet. If you read above, I am tubing the rear bumper as well. I am in a mind arguement with myself on the front bumper. I'm not sure if I'm going to replace it or modify it. The front bumper is just plain and boring......we will see.
  12. Love this truck. Graphics just set off the green paint. Love it, just love it!!
  13. Looks good, but maybe I missed reading why you have your front lower links upside down?!?

  15. Thanks, I'm stoked on this truck. Should get to the rear bumper gaurds by next week. My winch line came in today. Should have that on tonight! Might be ready before Memorial day, so hope to hit Tahuya with a couple buddies that are planning the 14th.
  16. Worked on the sliders today. Wanted to get a little more protection and distance from truck on them. This is what I came up with. Buddy Wes has a dimple die and plasma table. So hit him up for some help. We didn't get enough time to get to the tubing for rear bumper. Hopefully next week. Here is some pics of the work and finished sliders. Started by bending up some 1 1/2 dom tube. Welded that up and connected bottom with 1 1/4 flat plate to bend Then Wes drew this up on tourchmate (He has a plasma table too) Did some dimple die work and tacked it in place. Did all the finish welding to original sliders and plate. Got them home and threw a temp coat of rustoleam on them to keep the rust away.
  17. Congrats on the MJ. I'm on my 4th. Be careful, or you'll get the MJ bug!
  18. I see on original list you have both zj coils and thunderbird coils. I must say I'm interested to see how this turns out with two sets of coils under there, especially with how tight for space the front end already is..... :hmm: Just had to be a smartass. Looks like you will just run the bird coils
  19. The WSP that pulled me over was cool, I showed him receipt for mud flap brackets and he just warned me. He did comment on flare coverage but basically said that the key is rear tire coverage from behind. So....If you have rear flaps and get pulled over for not having flares the cop is being a fool. (edit...haha. d1ck says fool on here) I have never ran flares on any rig I have owned. I have personally never been pulled over for not having flares, I also always have mudflaps on my wheelers. I ordered the brackets for flaps as soon as I got the truck home. I knew no flaps would never fly around here. I was pulled over within a week for no flaps. I doubt I'll get pulled over again now that they are on the rig.
  20. Got pulled over a couple days ago for no mudflaps. I knew it was gonna happen. I work downtown by the Capital so there are state patrol all over. They always hit guys for flaps. The sheriffs and local oly cops never bother me with any rigs I've had. The WSP always pull me over. So I bought these removable mudflap brackets. They were big enough to be used behind a dually so I took down the mounts, shortened the brackets on both ends and redrilled for pins. Then cut down some flaps that were fender shaped. This is what I came up with. There just to legal limit on length (center of axletube) Of course easy removal at the trailhead is a must with flaps.
  21. Don't worry...it will get wheeled!! And I'll get some pictures. First trip will be Memorial day weekend. Wish it was sooner but got to finish my planned body protection. I learned my lesson on my Grand when I fixed $800 in rocker damage that I did the weekend before my rock sliders arrived.
  22. Very nice looking comanche.
  23. Think global. You should be able to hunt the whole of the USA for one at around $50. Shipping would still keep you under $200 Just a thought. Edit.....there pretty easy to steal. JUST KIDDING!
  24. Don, They seem good. I checked all of them at 24 and they were tight and solid. The motor has just hit 7000 miles. I just recently picked the truck up(had about 3500 when I bought it). I know it was properly broken in. Other than the ticking sound I like them fine. The motor is a tourque monster for sure(ported/polished,forged pistons, etc etc). My only comment would be that if you say they clear stock cover, they should do just that. I do think that Harland makes the best rockers from a few motor guys I have talked with, along with the reality that allot of times they will never be quite. I'm no motorhead myself so I admit I'm going off others opinions that have far more knowledge than I. I'll be ordering a alum. cover today. I'll let you know when I get it what the clearance difference is. Cheers, Jason
  25. Looking for a taller cover, but my temp fix was breaking tack welds on side closer to contact and pushing shield up a little and re tacking it.
