    RIPOFF City!

Tigerdirect.com has great deals. And I agree, go to a Gamestop and ask them their opinion.
  3. Nappa has it. Mine is the same 4.0 automatic 1988. Part number CSS980SB. It cost me $34.13, but I lie and say I work at a shop. Regular price said, $47.23. It helped a little but not much. If the truck sits for more than a day it still takes a couple tries and a longer crank to start. Everyone seems to say on this board that it is completely normal for this engine and year, so I wouldn't worry about it.
  4. You are awesome bob! Thanks :D
  5. Thanks guys! :D
  6. Guys I have a 88 4.0 automatic with a Dana 35. Tags are gone on the diff and the moron of my mechanic just changed my gear oil and didn't check the numbers on the gear. My question is, do I have 3.55 gears? Most probably right? Oh anybody know what 4 spd tranny I have?
  7. If you're looking at the front end mine is on the left side.
  8. We checked it with a laser thermometer on the block and the hoses. Every thing looks good between 180 and 210. Bt do you think I need a new gauge or sender. The sender is 2 months old.
  9. By putting a thermometer in the reservoir tank i'm between 180 and 210, just perfect I guess.
  10. Did you check the harmonic balancer.
  11. Did you try ebay?
  12. I take it the rear window doesn't slide?
  13. OK so guess what, by gauge reads high by like 40 or 50 degrees. Guess I have no problem.
  14. Well since the mj never warmed up now that weather has cooled down I figured the thermostat must be stuck open. Went to change it with a 190 dgree thermostat and found out ther was no thermostat in the truck. Guess the PO took it out to resolve the overheating issues. Now my truck idles at 215 to 220 and gets hotter as I drive down the road even though it's 30 degrees outside. I just flushed the system added the thermostat and replaced the plastic tank and lid by the firewall due to a crack. I even bled the coolant through the temp sensor in the back of the head and the truck will get really hot unless I kick the heat on full blast which isn't a problem now but will be in the summer. To top it all off I can't get the electric fan to work. I checked the motor by hooking it up to the battery, it worked, changed the sensor switch on the radiator and changed the relay on the driver's side fender and still no go. The radiator is not the original and looks to be in good condition from the outside. Anybody got a clue on what to do next?
  15. you may have dirty injectors. or a dirty air filter. i would say get injector cleaner and clen them out real good and see what happens. BUT, before you do anything run your tank of gas to empty and fill her up somewhere different, quite possible you have bad gas. Not that, I tried that.
  16. The O2 sensor is new. But I thought it doesn't even kick in until the car is warm and this problem happens cold or hot.
  17. You wanna know what's strange. If I drive a while and turn it off and turn it back on. It seems to run better. The more I do this the better it runs. Do you think it might be the CPS?
  18. I hooked up a gauge to the valve on the rail. The PSI is on spec with the vaccum hose on and off but I only did it while it was idling. The fuel filter is new. The truck just runs like crap from 1700 rpm. So I either have to lightly tap the gas or gun it. It's an automatic by the way. It just feels like it's not getting enough gas. By the way what's that stuff you said and where do I get it?
  19. Is it possible that the fuel pump gets enough pressure at idle, but driving it's not pushing out enough fuel causing the truck to stutter and feel like it's putsin along.
  20. Do you know what temperature your truck is running at?
  21. Are you still having this problem?
  22. Which problem did it solve
  23. Help me!!! I can not for the life of me get this truck to run right. I'm still having this problem where the truck stutters at 2000 rpm until it shifts. We replaced the TPS and tried adjusting it. The output is 4.2 volts but we can't get the input at 5 volts. Do yinz think we need to try a different TPS because this one might be faulty?
  24. Do you think if it's at .82 it could cause problems?
  25. Hey guys. Any body know what the TPS should read on a MT2500 snap on scanner. Is it .83? I know at the connector its 5v input and 4.2 output.
