  1. i use bolt cutters to get my brake cables off :brows:
  2. The manifold will only work on HO 4.0's but if you could get it cheap you could make a little money on ebay with it. :D
  3. The later '99 & up 4.0 heads have been known to crack and have smaller ports but the intake alone is worth $50 guys like the later intakes because they make a little more HP. The best 4.0 head is casting number 957120 used from 1991-1995. EDIT: found the link... http://www.jeep4.0performance.4mg.com/tech_specs.html 2000-01 uses the 0331 casting (the one thats known to crack) 1996-99 uses the 0630 casting I would be a little suspesious of someone selling a 2000+ head unless its from a wrecked jeep its probably cracked but the intake would be worth it.
  4. The ZJ coils that are are said to give 2" of lift are not just V8 coils they are from Grand Cherokees with Up Country suspension package.
  5. I just put a 3.5" rustys add a leaf and a 1.5" chevy drop shackle in the rear and rustys 3" coils up front with a 1" spacer on mine. It sits level and clears 33's fine in the back. 33's don't agree with my fenders in the front while flexing though. I don't run fender flares and my front fenders are cut in the rear for clearance.
  6. I used a XJ valve and reused the line that exits the bottom of the MJ valve and added a union and another short piece to make it work cost me like $5 cause i allready had a XJ valve
  7. What year is your MJ and what engine does it have? for some reason i assumed it was a 4.0 and i forgot that doug thorley only makes a header for the 4.0 HO not the renix injected. If its a 2.5 the only places i know of that make a header is banks, clifford performance and maybe borla. Nice MJ by the way it looks exactly like mine :D
  8. Cheap? Where and how much? I got it from Summit i think it was $330 for the chrome one but that was 3 or so years ago looks like the prices have gone up on them. At the time it was around $100 cheaper than borla and banks. I have a borla cat back on my YJ and i don't like the thin steel they use, muffler cracked but borla honored the warranty. if there headers are as thin as there cat backs i wouldent expect them to hold up to long.
  9. I have a Doug Thorley header on the 4.0 in my YJ its well made and cheap compared to borla and banks... I just put parts store replacment pipes on my MJ removed the cat and put a $17 thrush turbo mufler on it.
  10. AMC 2.5 mopar performance cams have been discontinued. You might be able to find some NOS ones at a jeep dealer somewhere though. Hesco and Clifford Performance sells 2.5 cams but they are expensive! This is a good place for jeep 4 cyl performance www.4BangerJP.com http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/4ba ... d=27319930
  11. Pink Floyd! :chillin:
  12. Which way do you mount rustys control arms with the bend pointing down or up? the main reason rustys arms look better for my MJ is that when I welded on a new LCA mount its positioned a little lower than the original and the stock arm is hitting the mount on flat ground. rustys arms have a bend in them and looks like they would clear the bracket better than the straight rubicon express arms (if the bend points down) I never lifted a coil sprung jeep and a noobie when it comes to control arms. is the control arm shown here upside down? If not that bend would be hitting my mount even worse.
  13. Front ford axles are the ones to get the older ones are High pinion (don't remember which years). jeep, chevy and dodge never used HP fronts
  14. If one trans is a internal throw out and the other a external you will need to swap bearing retainers. I had to do that on a friends TJ
  15. it's got to be the rear prop valve, remove it and modify the orignal MJ valve or swap in a XJ one to get rid of the dual brakelines that run to the rear. i just removed mine and used a XJ prop valve. here is some good reading about it check it out. http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=81438 http://comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopi ... ning+valve
  16. 1. only jeeps with OBD2 use 2 O2 sensors thats 1997 and up. 2. i swaped in a XJ valve on mine and got rid of the rear prop valve 3. i parted out a XJ i know the backet is different but i don't remember about the 1 cable into 2 thing you could probably make it work though.... i just removed my parking brake crap
  17. probably bad pinion bearings. did you preload the barings when you put the new yoke on? maybe the yoke was missing because of a bearing problem?
  18. maybe its the TPS? you have to adjust it and set it with a ohm meter. might want to test it and see if its reading right.
  19. Sweet them are cherokee Limited wheels my friend was looking for a set to make a YJ Limited clone. YJ Limiteds were never sold in the US only in the UK. How much does your brother in law charge to blast rims? i have a set of Comanche turbines i would like to clean up.
  20. If you go over 4.5 inches you should use drop brackets or go long arms. That’s why I decided against going SOA $$$
  21. from what i have read rusty 4" packs give more than 4" of lift. Rusty sells a 3.5" add a leaf i just bought them for mine. it made the packs sit about 3" taller but i havent got them back on the truck yet so i don't know how much lift its going to give me. if your springs are saging maybe you could have them rearched and use the 3.5 AAL? After i get new bushings for my springs i will post some pix of them instaled.
  22. every time i have used it it stuck fine for me. but then again i have always used their marine clean and metal ready before applying the por-15 itself. and it says that it is not made for smooth applications because it will not stick. if you need it to stick to smooth unrusted metal you have to take a wire wheel and really scratch the out of it first and then clean and metal prep the metal for it to get a strong hold. Alex I know i read all the por15 instructions, i have used 7 small cans of the stuff on my jeeps. i chemicaly striped my tailgate and sanded the bare steel with 100 grit and it stuck fine no problems... then i did the same thing to my bed rails and for some reason i could peel it off... :dunno:
  23. Cheapest place I found was por15outlet on eBay. I buy the 6 small can packs so I don’t have 1/2 of a big can go bad on me. I have had good and bad results with the stuff... some times it sticks really good some times if you can get it to lift you can peel it right off sanded and metal readied clean steel, I never paint directly out of the can I always transfer what I'm going to use into a plastic cup as not to contaminate the can.
  24. sounds like the head gasket
  25. I read somewhere the place that makes Rustys springs also makes Rubicon Express's springs. So I took a chance and ordered the 180lb coils. Even though I haven’t driven it yet, it lifted it a little over 3" and quality seems to be good. I ordered the 3.5" AAL's and I did tell them it was for a MJ. I just hope they are MJ specific (didn’t ask :( ). As far as there bracketry and in shop made stuff I’m not going to chance it I will be ordering my LCA's from Rubicon Express. Keep the AAL experiences coming! i can't find any good info on yahoo searches about them. :D
