After re reading my posts I was unclear let me try and clear it up... I didn’t want to hijack enigma94's post making it all about my MJ so I posted what I *think* might be wrong with mine. Thinking more from my MJ's perspective than his. I converted my MJ to 4wd, my 2wd tube axle was visabley centered. (Even without track bar, on level ground with wheel straight) so it never was an issue. After putting in the 4wd axle with its original steering linkage it’s noticeably shifted to the passenger side. In my MJ's case sitting on level ground with the wheels straight and no track bar. It should sit fairly centered even with the track bar off. I wasn’t trying to center my axle with the draglink, I thought the draglink might be effecting how my MJ sat without a track bar. But in enigma94's case a 5" lifted MJ with a stock track bar his should be offset to the driver’s side like he said in his first post. And since he has a track bar the steering wouldn’t have anything to do with it, so I was wrong there sorry for the confusion.

If you don't have your trackbar attached then there's no way you can center the axle with the draglink. lifting the suspension will make your track bar and draglink SHORT. Simple geometry. It don’t make any sense to me either, but that the only thing I cold think of for mine being off. Being that I don’t even have a track bar on it right now.

I have the same problem after lifting my MJ. I don't even have my track bar on and its pushed out on the pass side. I think its because of the inverted Y steering linkage used on the coil sprung jeeps. I think after i lifted it it made the steering linkage from the steering gear to the pass side knuckle to long. I'm not sure though I'm going to adjust it and see if it brings it back to center.

Its just like a GM starter bolts they go stright up into the engine block. The bolts are external torx i don't remember what size.

jeepthing07 replied to GirsMJ86's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
my 1992 XJ's gauge will suddenly quit working sometimes then after a day or so will start working again. I think its the electrical connection in the back of the cluster. It only acts up every other month so i don't worry about it but when its not working cruise control don't work. -
Front AND Rear Bumper Pics
jeepthing07 replied to JOMJ87's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I finaly got my bumper finished and mounted it's made from 3/16 wall 2x5" tube. Image Not Found I made the mounts out of 6" wide 1/4" plate. i still need to weld some 3" 1/4 wall angel to bolt to the bottom of the frame and reinforce the bumper from side loading. Image Not Found And i found this license plate light for $3 at Advance Auto Parts its small and has a metal housing i don't think it will get broken to easy Image Not Found -
i think i fixed it should work now

Olive Drab is becoming a popular color for MJ's lol I was thinking about painting MJ-6 somewhere on mine. In the spirit of the CJ models but 6 meaning 6 foot bed. anyone else call MJ's MJ6 and MJ7's? i think it could catch on if not :brows: Nice MJ-6 btw JOMJ87 :D

The AX15 has a aluminum intermediate plate while the AX5's is steel so if you see a rusty band around it its a AX5

NV3550 connected to an NP241
jeepthing07 replied to clarkerussell's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
What did the NV3550 come out of? If its out of a wrangler they are clocked higher and add to that the larger case of the NP241 and i don't think it would even come close to clearing the floor. -
I'm not sure what the 3" kit comes with now days but, I bought the 3" rough country kit in 1997 for like $100 from JC Whitney but i never put it on. My kit came with short add a leaves designed for a XJ it probably wouldent have lifted the rear much anyways. and No shocks! Now i have Rustys 3" coils ($100) and full length Rustys Add A Leaves made for MJ's ($69). I'm happy with the price and quality of rustys springs. I bought Shocks from superlifts blemish store on ebay $10 a shock. its good cheap way to lift without spending to much. You might need longer brake line in the rear or drop the hard line down a little with a bracket though.

What engine is it? 4.0, 2.5, 2.8? I have only replaced 1 rear main it was on a friends 258 it slowed the leak down then we noticed it was leaking out the back of the valve cover. If someone nicked the crank removeing the upper seal (if you have a 4.0) it will never seal.

:rotf: :clapping: Por 15 is great stuff

1997 and up 2.5's used aluminum valve covers. they are about $120 new from the dealer. Dodge dakotas used the jeep 2.5 but I'm not sure when they quit putting them in the dakotas.

AX-15 gear oil development!!!
jeepthing07 replied to Pete M's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
A Yota friend of my told me a long time ago that his toyota's transmission (Toyota version of the AX15) used motor oil. I never herd of any jeep owners running it though. My friend with a TJ ran ATF in his AX5  never seemed to hurt it. When i change my fluid i will try motor oil, its alot cheaper :D -
I got mine from www.rustysoffroad.com i got the 3.5" I havent driven the truck as its still being worked on and being converted to 4wd. But this is a pic of the AAL's in my 2wd packs on 33" tires. Image Not Found
