  1. Recently I have been considering selling my truck. I have noticed I have lost the desire to drive it and I more just like to sit and look at it. I've went through the nightmare of fixing it and working the kinks out and I finally have. But now I don't want to really drive it. Part of me wants to sell it because I know I can't keep it forever. I know eventually I'll need to find somthing newer and eventually as all vehicles do....become money pits. On the other hand I do not want to sell it because it has a history. It's kept up. Maintained and runs better than ever. I'm just torn because I don't want to be selfish and keep it and let it rot when I could find someone to continue to work on it. What is your guys advice? I know I made a thread way earlier on my discouragement about nonstop fixing it but this is me unsure if I should sell based on me not hardly driving it. I think if I was to sell I'd want somthing like 5k. I don't have any clue what these things go for since people have usually hit me very low in the $500-$2,000 range. Which I know is way way to low considering it has paperwork and parts with it
  2. I noticed recently I have a different noise coming from my engine. I know it isn't rod knock because it would knock at idle, acceleration and deceleration. It sounds like a very light knock sound at idle. I have lifter tick. So when I accelerate I can hear the ticking speeding up or slowing down/idling. Would this light "knock" sound be piston slap? It almost seems like it disappears when the engine is at optimal temperature. I do not have a audio clip right now. I do apologize but has anyone experienced this, know what it is? The sound also goes away when I start to give it some throttle.
  3. Each and every car brand has a abbreviation for what it means. Most common one ever heard is Ford. Fix Or Repair Daily, Found On/Off road dead. Pretty funny stuff. What manufacturer jokes have you heard? One that I get a kick out of is jeep. I know there's tons for others. Just haven't heard them Just Empty Every Pocket
  4. I had a high almost runaway idle last year. I was almost at my wits end with mine too. I had a new O2 sensor put in, TPS, IAC and brand new air filter installed as well all in one go. Between that happening and my radiator leaking it seemed to never end. I had my days where I almost posted it on FB marketplace. Sometimes it seems to get worse before better. Calm after the storm.
  5. Got my new muffler put on! The old one looked horrendous. Yuck! It sounds better too. Also solved some engine ticking and quieted that down immensely. Just a standard direct OEM replacement muffler VID_36340522_134711_576.mp4
  6. I'm sure you could probably buy it, clean it up and sell it as is for 2k. If nothing more you could get it running and driving, nothing more and could sell it? I don't know what those things go for but if you got it driving and sold it you could probably get 3500-5000 out of it? If you got room for it and do plan to work on it and have idea for it. Go for it. There's few and far in between
  7. Could be a fun father/son project? Come to think of it Napa and Rockauto very well could have the things you need.
  8. How hard is parts finding for it? It looks decent for 1k. I'm worried about all the cancer you can't see. That personally is my concerns
  9. Those are Goodyear tires too. Those look relatively expensive. New that is. IF the tires look good you could get somthing out of them if wanted? Then again they may have some weird wear on them if an alignment wasn't done. I can't exactly tell the tire size but those look like they'd be like a $1400 set of tires new.
  10. I know I would totally pay good money for a peice like that. I'm wanting to like restore the truck in full but leave the paint, the faded look is growing on me. I know there's like 18,000~ MJ's roaming the earth and there's odd and end parts becoming obscure and so hard to find. Like a manual hand crank regulator. I called 12 junkyards all the way from NC all the way to Washington and I found 1. And I bought it. I needed it. That used hand crank regulator was $75 for the part. $23 for shipping. It'd be so awsome if those went into production. But yes I do believe bringing the rear window gasket back into production would be a thing all MJ's drivers would love and appreciate.
  11. I oddly enough have fog lights on my MJ that....don't work. No idea if they ever did. I would get them just because the lenses look pretty good. What about that grill? It looks really good
  12. Unfortunately I'm missing my spare tire carrier too. My grandfather said someone stole it for scrap metal after he left it under the shed one right after changing a tire
  13. Here is another one in my town that I've seen once. It was getting worked on shortly after mine had some things adjusted. The fella that worked on my truck said this one is in pretty good condition! Always nice to see another around
  14. I am very pleased and excited to have had these tires put on. Coker did a good job packing them. Wasn't really happy with how long it took for them to deliver. Overall I highly recommend Coker Tire. They have everything you want plus more!
  15. Finally bought me a brand new muffler to be put on since it looks as it does down below and because it's very noisy at 40-45
  16. I saw one at Walmart Tuesday when I was getting groceries. It was like a dark blue color. She was rough but I was fortunate enough to talk to the owner. I told him about here. It was a older fella. He did go and look at my truck and said how nice it was to see another and still driving. It always gets me excited when I see another and gives me a warm good feeling. Always nice to see another one, especially when it's one you never seen before
  17. I know there's a small little one down here in NC. They are super neat little trucks. I saw it for sale and if memory serves right I think they were asking 7k for it? I just wouldn't know where to get it serviced or really get parts for one
  18. Whatever you do do not order the all aluminum off rockauto. The very bottom one is a waste of money and I'm about $500-$600 deep in them and my return date is past. I got one from Napa. Works like a charm.
  19. Yeah these are the ones I got for my Monte Carlo. In my area you can't find whitewalls or they want to charge you an arm and a leg for them. I know I spoke to one of my grandfather's buddies yesterday and he said he orders through Coker tire get tires for his '58 BelAir. He loves them. So I know if a old timer likes them and uses them they must be pretty good!
  20. Oh very nice! What I forgot to mention too is that I'm also having an alignment done and it's at my local Chevy dealership. So that's why the price is the way it is. The place that told me 905 for a set are high anyway. The fella I spoke to did tell me himself that for whitewalls that's a lot of money. He told me they could've knocked a little off but said that I'd be better off getting them online. I called the dealership and they said they'd happily put them on and balance/do an alignment as well. Granted I think the whitewalls they sourced was BFGoodrich
  21. No no it was 905 for the tires. Balancing and such not included. The tires I'm talking about that were $94 were for the jeep. It's what I already have on ironically. Or what my grandfather put on. The ones I ordered for the car were about $105 a tire. They were rated pretty high. The place I called to have my tires mounted and balanced estimated like 150. The brand is also travel star. Which is what I have coming for the car and have on the jeep since I bought it. I know they don't have a warranty through a dealership or anything but it's not like I'm ripping the car through corners, skidding tires and such. Just something to look nice, ride nice and do well. And those seem to fit the bill nicely without burning my wallet
  22. Oh interesting. I never knew that. I have shops around me that will put them on they just didn't have what I wanted. From what I read online people really like Coker Tire and what they have to offer
  23. Where do you guy get tires from? As silly as it may sound I wonder if any of you order from Coker Tire, Jeggs....etc. I need some tires for my Monte Carlo SS and I wanted some pencil thin white walls for them. No tire shops around me carry them. One shop did and had the audacity to estimate me $905 for the tires. I found some on coker tire for less than half the price and exactly what I wanted. Same for my jeep. Found a perfect set that's a direct fit for about $94 per tire.
