I would like to see a sticky that explains as many differences as possible between the base model, Sportruck, Eliminator, Chief, and Pioneer...and any other models that I may have missed ( I don't think I have)

idle problems....only sometimes
sinnaevd replied to offroader461's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
if it was anything like my firefly (and i sure as hell hope it won't be seeing as how the firely is a 3cyl POS) it is expensive as hell to buy brand new -
i was told you can take the main leaf out of a Dakota and jam it in the pack or usually about a 1 inch lift (if they are not warn out) not sure how to cut them, or where to place htem in the pack, and havent done it myself either, but i just htough I would give you a heads up. also, is your lift new? maybe the front will settle a little bit after you work it in?

hold the phone...if it is an 85 does it still need emissions? i know in canada that's a big negative because it is officially a "classic/vintage" vehicle, and its now it owuld be wide open for ANYTHING!!!!!!
-
one oopsie upon arrival was that it has a D35 instead of the D44, but from and back were both regeared to 4.56, which is good cuz I will need the 4.56 front for the MJ. Also running 242 tcase, not 231. Still A hell of a deal in my opinion. beautiful rims as well, not scratches or dents or whatever. i believe they are aluminum. need a little polish...maybe just a car wash.

lol, I will probably cry.... He seems like a super nice guy though. the reason for sale was a divorce issue..so I don't think he was looking to sell it for the money. Actually I though about putting it on the road. he has it plated right now and was driving it like 2 weeks ago
-
I talked to the guy and he is being super nice. I payed him for it, gave him a case of beer and he will keep it until I'm ready for it at his place behind his garage.....what a super nice guy

id be using the eng for my stroker build more then likely...depending on how it runs. i might use my other eng for the stroker if htis one runs better
-
i thought about it it would only take me maybe a day to tear everyting I need out of it...and the garage is almost finifhes so I have a place to put the junk....then scrap the rest. but i have a feeling the $$ part will kick me in the butt at some point. still saving for this years tuition and books and everything

that's what I was thinking. 36's aren't my taste, I will have 33's and thats it. But for the drivetrain part, i'm thinking it owuld be worth it. If i brought it home though, my M&D would kill me, not to mention my GF having a heart attack. But i don't think they understand the concept of "DEAL"

Found a potential drive train donor for the MJ project which can not be started until the winter of this year. it is a 93 cherokee, body poop, interior/mechanically excellent. it has been lifted 5ish inches, running 36's with about 70% tread left. 4.10 gears, HP in the front D44 in the back. auto with the NP231, with the HO eng. Basically everything I am looking for all in one nice little package...... PROBLEM: I am broke, and have no where to put it. he will sell it to me for 50 bux, wife devorcing him...do I listen to my inner child and jump all over it like a fat kid, or myself for that matter, on a cupcake?? or do I listen to everything that says DON'T BE STUPID, NOTHING BUT HEADACHES???????

the escorts were prone to blown headgaskets. my gf and her sister both had htem, and they both went around 200,000 KM's. i htink that is about 125,000 miles

it will give you a pop up if you set it to when you first sign up. not sure how you turn it off though

your prob gona hate me for this.....

i think it would be sweet to see a truck redone that way. the aftermarket body kits/roll pans will be hard to find, so it will awesome to see what you come up with -

they are not the same, but from what I have heard, they are easily adaptable. I can't find the thread right now, but someone justcovered that tpoic in our tech section. one of the other guys on here can help you for sure -
it might be better in my travels i think to find a new one n e way and use the now 2 i have to use as parts donors....the box on this one is almost unsalvagable. the panels available would be enough to fix it, but why seeing as how i'm only going to bash the hell out of it n e way... An auto floor shift is extremely diffcult to find in my area, not to mention finding an MJ period. fighting he same issues with salt as some of the other people out there, so I know some body work will be needed, but i'm not sure I want to tackle another body project suck as the one I am facing with the charger. But on the flip side, I bought this MJ for 50 bucks so I'm not really out n e thing, and it came with a ton of spare body parts. the box is the only thing that is my concern.

i have tried many of time with y firefly, and her dad has tried many of time swith his YJ. she gets too nervous when she is in commotion, and on the trails i think would be a NIGHTMARE. she couldn't do the silver lake sand dunes in michigan, and she was simply driving over a 3 foot hill in sand with no one with her in 4 low...lol definately would should switch to auto i think...or is it just an unbelievable nightmare of a mess?
-
i want auto because when I took my friends XJ offroading there was a lot of..i dunno how to describe it, but you could fell it chugging back and forth, you could really feel the clutch working/slipping. i found it very uncomfortable. plus my gf can't drive stick, and she would like to drive if we went. I can get my hands on a couple auto MJ's. so i'm guessing that would make the swap a lot easier?
-
What about my conversion to 4x4, and my conversion to auto, and upgrading the trans case if i have to and all that junk??? should it all be done first?
-
no this is probably a whole hell of a lot more difficult of a question then what I'm about to ask, but... How (as in what stages first) should I build my rig and why?? ( i went over the basic "ideas" a little further up in here sum where)
-
plus this is already out of a manche, so it WOULD bolt right in if I wasn't doing SOA, but since I am SOA, and going to do that Dakota thingy you were telling me about to level it off, then I need to cut off the peice that the leafs bolt to and weld new ones in correct??? That's the basic plan?
-
I will take a Canadian flag if ever available!!! Or maybe I will just paint my manche the same?? hm......
