  1. nevermind I answered my own question You definately need the HO, you have to port the HO head. lol. guess I'm going to have to find another HO then
  2. it does seem to be very difficult to do. I have all the parts, just confused on whether or not to use a regular 4.0 or the HO engine. I have both, but the HO runs extrememly well so I would like to keep running that until the stroker is built... Some of this stuff seems kind of intimidating though, especially since I've only ever rebuilt a couple engines using all stock replacemtn parts, never really upgraded one except for exhaust. I should probably just follow there directions strictly for the 4.6 when I do it. Definately staying with gas though, I've talked to a few people who are running propane here and they hate it with a passion
  3. Is there a way to contact this fella? Does anyone know if he a good guy and willing to answer beginner questions?
  4. how do you tie everything in to make it even stronger??
  5. bad luck....lol would it be easier just to weld everything solid and call it the "general lee wannabe"????
  6. i checked out that website, and i think i'm going to try and build that 4.5. i'm pretty sure i have most of the parts. but should i use an ho block or just a regular??
  7. I was looking at building the 4.5 stroker, though you could run it on regular??? I have a 4.2L carbed, that I bought off of my gf's dad for $10, its out of a yj. THat's why I was htinking stroker. I'm priced at $20 per cylinder to get the boring done 30 over, and found adecent priceon some pistons. other then the cam, anyone know off hand what else I will have to change for sure? New Rods? New head? Head work done? valve springs?

The XJ builders guide thingy is available now for anyone interested. Mine is in the mail and due to my door in another 4 days.
  9. Yeah i tried the adobe thing and it worked pretty good. Thanks to everyone for the help/suggestions
  10. What are the benifits or running propane and is the swap difficult to do?? do you lose HP compared to the 87 octane?? I know the fork lifts at work really suck for driving power...that's theonly experience I have with propane engines
  11. how do I build the 4.5L stoker??? Is it worth it?
  12. my dad and I are framing one this weekend...he seems to thikn 4 and 1/2 cars is going to enough...I tried to tell him but he won't listen lol
  13. lol everybody is a jokester...actually the jeep is inteded for straight driving only...lol those were the axle shafts I mentioned above, I Couldn't remember which thread someone mentioned them to me in. Does the POR15 really work as advertised, where you have to have SOME surface rust in order for it to work like its suppose to? I was going to use in on my charger floors, but not too how good it is.
  14. What are my options for a different front axle other then the D44? How much work is it to install?
  15. Here's the plan so far 89 Comanche short box bucket seats, full ground consol 5 spd manual regular straight six Dana 35, 3.07's Donor truck has 4.0 HO, Dana 44 with 4.10's, misc body panels Action plan: body will be sandblasted, new rockers will be put in along with new doors and new hood and fenders. Inside panels will be cover with POR15 paint, as well as all frame, body panels (i was told you can still sand and repaint over the POR15 for max protection, someone please confirm if they can) Truck will be painted that army colour green. will have similar body look as commando14's truck he has posted on here. Not trying to be a copy cat, just love the look. HO will be rebuilt and placed inside the 89 as well as the DANA 44 regeared to 4.56's. Hopefully a DANA HP 35 will be placed up front from a cherokee also geared to 4.56. Not sure on trans case, someone mentioned NP291? haven't looked into that part yet, same with drive shafts, everyone has mentioned some, haven't picked one just yet. Also changing to an Auto for ma lady. Will be lifting using RE 5.5 LA kit, then will be lifting rear 6 inches for just a little bit of a raised look probably using custom made leafs. Will be making my own bed, partialy using the existing comanche bed. Also making own bumpers. 33 inch TrXus tires to finish it off couple other misc. stuff as well. Sound good? ANy recommendations?
  16. it is a Mans Jeep
  17. I find it useful here on this website because it is a bit smaller, and the guys to answer almost all of my posts seem to really know what they're talking about, and they usually have quite a few posts on there belt... I dunno, I've pretty much almost given up on the other jeep websites for help and questions, I guess my questions I am asking are too "juvenile", or not "worthy" of everyone else. There's a good bunch of guy(and/or gals) on this website
  18. Is there a way to set the forum messages more easily printable other then copying and pasting??? I want to put all that stuff you guys were teaching me about in a hard copy so I can have it out into the shop
  19. OIC I like the look, but is the function to reduce the yaw on the jeep when offroading? Am I safe to go with my D44 and D30 from jeeps first then possible look at upgrading later? The good news is I've settled on what to do with the comanche DD, lol. Still not 100% on drivetrain mods I will do. You guys have helped a ton though I just want to say thanks to everyone again, for the help, for teaching and for being patient with me while I'm trying to learn
  20. personally I love it, lol I look to look and see who posts the most, that way if I have a question I need answered completely anfd quickly I know who to look at for an opinion
  21. if you don't mind me asking, what's the difference? is the difference just the wheel to wheel width?
  22. when I do my bumpers, I was going to build the bracing out of 1 inch thick alumunum (or 1/2 inch thick c channel aluminum) and the bumper out of 1/4 thich sqauare aluminum probably 4 inch my 3 inch. Bad idea?
  23. maybe because of the pull vs. push???? How'd you get your D44 under the front? Was that the same setup I was thinking about doing with the GW???? You seem to have all the goody's on your MJ, Now I will definately have to run over there. I'll wait for my buddy Alex to come down, cuz we will want to see it as well why are you running a ford 9 instead of a d44 in the rear??
  24. where can I find a high pinion?? What are the advantages? ( this is me assuming there are some)
  25. I've painted a mustang, and a dodge charger, along with many mics parts and it always came out good and everyone always complimented me on the look. If he is ONLY blocking it, he will be just fine. as long as he takes his time and moves in long light strokes. Just don't get impatient...that calls for extreme disaster
