Cruise Control issue
Whitaker717 replied to Whitaker717's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I figured it would lose a little speed but 10mph seems a bit much to me. I'm wondering if i have a vacuum leak or something. I'm not really sure. -
Hi Guys, I just recently had my cruise control kit installed on my 87. I have my speed adjusted almost right on. The issue i am running into is when i go up a steady incline hill with my cruise set i lose like 10mph. So if i have it set at 65 by the time i reach the top i am only going 55 mph. Its not a super aggressive hill either. My question is has anyone else had this issue and what is the fix for it? Its an 87 auto with fairly stock tires and factory gears. Pretty well stock. Thanks guys

Sorry to hear. If it was shortbed I may be interested. Still looking for a cover myself. -

Did you ever get a chance to put this on yet? I’m still looking for one myself. -
Intermittent wiper module repaired
Whitaker717 replied to The86manche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I would be interested in a working one if these. I just added CC and now have an intermittent wiper stalk with no intermittent wiper. Would be interested in buying a working one. Good work -
I just replaced one of mine. I found mine on ebay. It was almost brand new. There were others though fairly reasonable.

I may give this a try Pete. I’m not sure I am skilled enough. Lol. Quick question on that, it doesn’t leave 4WD engaged all the time does it? -
4wd not engaging all the sudden

Thanks for the tips. After monkeying around and looking it appears one of the lines was disconnected somehow. Plugged it back in and now it works again. I must have missed it somehow earlier. Thanks for the help! -

So I put it in N and 4L and nothing. Peeled out and just the rears spun. At that point I just put it back in 2WD -
Hi guys, woke this morning to some snow and ice and when I kicked it in 4wd my light didn’t light up and feels like it isn’t engaged. Where can I start to see what in the world is going on? It worked the last time I used it say a month ago. 87, 4.0. Thanks

Maybe a little. Not much though

I have my cotter pin in right now so it may be close if it’s only 35 ft pounds
-
I will take a look. The problem is I have no wobble at all. Which is wierd. It is smooth as a cucumber going down the road. That could be an issue for sure. What is the torque spec? I think I tightened it just enough to get the cotter pin in there.

Thanks for the explanation. I would venture to guess it’s the wrong size end. I can’t imagine the guy I got it from did any modifications to the knuckle. Just out of curiosity, some tie rod ends say 20mm like the MOOG one. Does that mean it will take a 20mm socket to get it off because mine is definitely not that size.
-
What are guys running for outer tie rods? I have a precision from oreillys. I have some play where it attaches to knuckle. Either tie rod is too small or knuckle is getting wallowed out. Thanks
-
When he brought me out to look at it the play I where the tie rod goes into the knuckle. The tie rod is brand new from precision or Oreillys. It is almost like the tie rod bolt is too small or the knuckle hole is wallowed out.

Power/Comfort light bulb
Whitaker717 replied to Whitaker717's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I splice the other connector though correct? The one you have circled is the current light. I just don’t want to cut the other connector if it goes to something important. Wires are same color though. -

What does the other socket go to? Can I just cut it and splice another one together? -
Hey guys, what do I have going on here? I have added the sports bar switch but it seems I don’t have another place to put a bulb to light it up? Did my truck not come with one? If you look at the connectors and wires the one connector is huge. Let me know what options I may have please. There are no other connectors hiding anywhere that I can see. I have attached some pictures.

So I just went to get an alignment job and they said I had some play in my passenger front tire. They took me out there and sure enough there is some play. My tie rod is new so I am guessing it’s my steering knuckle. Any idea where I can get one for an 87? I’m guessing the wheel bearing will need replaced or should be at the same time. Thanks guys.
