  1. To further add proof to this, think about driving in winter; where does the snow accumulate after driving around with your tailgate up? At the front of the bed, closest to the cab. The wind circulates off of the taligate and pushes on the back of the cab just enough to make an improvement in gas mileage. YMMV however. (Yes, that was a lame pun, but it applies quite well in this situation :dunce: )
  2. You still can, you do know that right? I'd personally add a couple more pics of the actual fix and then put it in the DIY.
  3. That's right about where Baby is going to be sitting at; 3" all around. The front is already there and looking great still. The rear is yet to come, but all told, she should be sitting right around the stance of that one you posted.
  4. Good gawd man. Every time I see your truck, I get evil thoughts in my head for Baby. Any projected estimation of completion, or just taking it as it comes?
  5. dasbulliwagen: Appreciate the thought, I may look into them if something else don't work out right. That one isn't in my control though. :D Drahcir495: I can't wait to see what he does either. I'll be like the rest of you all; waiting for pics. Thanks all for the compliments and advice/help so far. I know she will be coming back a bit different. :brows:
  6. As a person of 1/8 Native blood, I have no comment.
  7. Wade, you'll have to talk with Pat about that one. He's going to be taking her down there, and I won't be able to make it to help, so I have to kick back and wait for updates while he has her.
  8. Very nice man. Now, keep at it, I wanna see that thing painted by next week. :chillin: Seriously though, does look real good.
  9. Was going to clean her out, but fell asleep at my computer and missed the whole day. I guess the 23 hours awake caught up to me.
  10. Looks like you got a solid base to start with there. My 88 has the same striker troubles on the driver's door, to the point where it fell apart, and I screwed it back in. It's not pretty, but it's held so far.
  11. Anouther couple things that work are: late nite game of Marco Polo with friends; or if you're feeling real risky, use the electric carts while playing. Don't ask how I know that, but I will say that there's a Fleet Farm here in town that I and a few friends are no longer allowed to enter. Apparently they thought we were all  .
  12. The thought has crossed my mind actually. If I can find a decent, halfway cheap set along down the road, I may do it with a 4-link setup. Until then, it's just the ZJ rear coils up front and going to be 3" steel blocks out back. I'd love to get her sitting like the photochop though, but can't do it yet.
  13. Well, sadly there's nothing new here. Yet. In about a month, Jeepco will be taking over the updates in this thread. I won't say much else other than that about why. :fool:
  14. Hrmm... tombstone. Looks great so far man, can't wait to see it next time I'm down there. :brows:
  15. MMMMM... Someday Baby will be there as well, just not quite that low.
  16. I just usually keep my hand on the shifter at most times, solves any issues that may arise. Plus if any problems do arise, I can respond to them a lot quicker, as I don't have to take the second or two to reach for the shifter.
  17. Managed to get the drivers side door panel off, but still can't get the stoopid door opened. :headpop:
  18. The rear coils from a ZJ WILL lower the front of a Comanche about 2.5". Trust me, I done it already. It rides a bit stiffer, but I love the ride it has now; some might say it's a bit too stiff, but it works great for my plans.
  19. Yes, it has been done. Geonovast wasn't lying to everyone, it's not his style. ZJ rears have been successfully put into the front of an MJ; a 2.5L 2wd MJ named Baby. Click here to see the spring differences and drop acquired.
  20. Thank you both for the offers, but money is just way too tight right now for me to afford even shipping on something. onebigmj, thank you for the props, she's in real good condition for being in WI since '94. I wasn't too sure on the visor at first myself, but once I got it on her, it's perfect. OH, I had a friend do a quick photoshop for me on the approximate finished stance.
  21. Hhmm... I think I just got a couple new ideas in my head. :D
  22. Congrats and thanks for serving. If I could be allowed in any branch of the military, I would have already been in the marines.
  23. I know it's a crappy "enhanced" pic, but hopefully it'll do the trick. If ya look closely (where the arrows lead to) you can see that it is in fact a 4dr XJ with the rear doors poorly welded shut and the door handles removed.
  24. Krylon Fusion hasn't failed me yet. That's what I used to paint the gauge surround on Baby. I also use it a lot for model cars. It is a lil pricey at around $3-$4 a can, but I like the results it gives me. I also spray a couple coats of clear over it, and it really brings out the shine nicely.
  25. Problems arose here as well. The tranny is about to give out. It's grinding severely in 2nd through 5th gears, and reverse, but 1st is fine. I also have about a 6" radius of play in the shifter while it's in gear, which isn't a good thing. So, she is parked for a while.
