  1. I swear, if it isn't the intense heat, it's the rain. :ack: Lugged this thing outside and was able to sand down the backside. Threw a coat of Rust-Reformer to get what I couldn't sand down all the way. I'll probably end up doing this to the entire case. Decided to lay down a coat on the inside; where the light-display housing is. Decided to pick up a few Sonic decals to put on first. Should look pretty good when it's all together ;) :brows: Now only if the weather would co-operate with me for one day.... I would have probably gotten the whole thing sanded down.
  2. After 2 coats of paint. Need to go pick up some 60 grit / primer. Should be able to get at least the backside painted before the rain sets in today. :brows: :fs1:
  3. You 'da man Jeff; you 'da man!
  4. Very nice Jerry! :brows:  I've seen your build thread over on IFSJA. Very nice  If you ever get tired of that 401/T18 combo, I know someone who wouldn't mind using it..... :brows: :D
  5. Nothing wrong with that! Except for the blinking ghosts. :fs1:
  6. Wow, can't believe it's almost been a year since I last posted on this thread. This thing has basically sat in my living room for almost a year now with no developments. Finally decided to do something with it. Decided on painting it "Sega Blue", with white highlights on the front and sides. Here's after one coat of paint. It's also hard to believe that I haven't cleaned the glass on this. Didn't even bother with it when I brought the thing home. Can't really tell the difference, but the right door is clean, left is still dirty as @#$%. :chillin: Used some GM glass cleaner spray I had laying around. Pics don't do the glass any justice.
  7. Yup. ISC is on it's way out. If it looks like this then that's the problem. As qouted by Don almost 3 years ago from my searching a month ago for a New ISC (2.5 Litre) - Don't know whether or not yours is a 4 banger or 6 cylinder. Somebody can probably chime in with the P/N for a 6 cylinder. I also don't know if there is a difference between the I6 and I4 ISC. :dunno:
  8. So, in two weeks, I'll be making another P&P run. Just posting here as a note for myself so I don't forget what I need / want to pick up. Funny how the Wants outweigh the Needs... :ack: As always, check JY for 2.5s and pick whatever I can pick ---NEED--- Driver and Passenger 97+ Cabin Weatherstripping 97+ XJ D/P Turn signal Lamp Pigtails Seat-belt Cover plate (4+) Ashtray Clips (4+) Driver and passenger Window weatherstripping plates (bottom of outside, at LEAST 2 more in good shape) Window regulator channel (2, depending on difficulty of removal) 10 Spoke Center Caps (2+) ---WANT--- Smaller door speakers :shake: New Door Panels with Map pockets Butterfly Windows OEM Shifter knob Bed Liner - **Check dimensions against an MJ to post for others needing a suitable SWB bedliner** Random Car Emblems Radio Antennae (1) Radio Antannae Input Cable (L Shaped) XJ Overhead console D/P Turn signal assemblies
  9. If you remove the gauge cluster from the dash, the gauge will be held on by 3 screws IIRC. Just un-screw and screw in another one.
  10. Good looking MJ to start with, definitely a lot nicer looking than mine used to be :D Here's a link to replacing the interior lights, there's either the cheap-o (but good looking if you have the interior for it) Optronics kit you can get; or the "Pop 'em in and go" Euramatec set (later in the thread) that are basically a match for the original ones that came with the truck. http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=3490&hilit=interior+lights+euramatec Pretty sure your radio wiring is in need of attention; that's usually the signs of something touching what it's not supposed to back there.
  11. :wrench: Jeep on; and good luck with the new job!
  12. Yes, there is. It sounds like the ISC is on it's way out, because it sounds like the exact same thing that mine was doing before it took a nosedive. :fs1: Had the same problem a while back; high idle after startup that wouldn't go back down to the 800-1200 rpm range. Checked the throttle body and cleaned it, didn't help anything. Checked vacuum lines, couldn't find any that were bad or leaking. It probably wouldn't hurt to replace the O2 sensor as well; it helps remedy part of the problem of a high idle on the 2.5.
  13. If you have a 2.5, the sender will be on the driver's side of the engine block (if you were sitting in the driver's seat), right next to the valve cover. It should have a pink wire with a little L shaped cover running to it. Should look like this. (switch for a guage, not idiot lights) If you have a 4.0, it should be near or in the same spot I believe.
  14. Something like this? Still working on it at the moment though. The stand-alone grille version.
  15. A step-side with wide track flares? Lucky dog. :fs1:
  16. ;) I'm not biased either...
  17. Thanks MM. Now if I could get the rating for a 4x2 SWB 4.0, I could figure out the rest.
  18. Sounds like it's worth every bit of $2000, probably even more. :dunno: Pics?
  19. Power Sliding rear windows? I've never even heard of such a contraption! :???: Good find! I wouldn't mind seeing this baby all nice and put in. :brows:
  20. ;) The 80's never looked so good. I'll finish painting the stripes one of these days
  21. 5vz6dJRRGyI When you can.... Drive a Jeep! On a very related note, this commercial made my day. Haven't had a laugh that good for a while now :rotfl2:
  22. Just like the title says, I need GVWR Ratings for the following; simply for my own use to make VIN graphics for the people that have requested one of me. I've been searching the site and elsewhere for about an hour or so, and haven't really gotten anything of use. Doesn't help that I just got off of work either. :ack: Posted by Pete a few years back; all these ratings are for a 2.5, from what he posted. 4x2 sb GVWR: 4387 4x4 sb GVWR: 4551 4x2 lb GVWR: 4434 4x4 lb GVWR: 4616 I would like to know the GVWR of a 4.0 MJ. I'm only assuming here that it adds at least another 100 lbs at MOST to the rating of the SWB / LWB 4x2 and 4x4. This is based off prior information of weighings of a 2.5 and a 4.0; most agreed that there was only about 100 lbs difference between a fully dressed 2.5 vs 4.0 I shouldn't be so nit-picky with this, but I want to try and have a completely accurate Door VIN tag to offer to whoever wants it; or as close to the original thing as I can get. It also doesn't help that I have serious OCD tendencies with things like these. :ack: EDIT--- Does the different GVWR ratings for an MJ with a 4.0 affect it's GAWR ratings? I read that all MJ's have a 2500 FT./2700 RR weight ratio. Is this true?
  23. I've gotten a few requests for VIN graphics; which are in the process of being made, along with some other graphics (just been very busy these last couple of weeks both in and out of work ) I want to let everyone know what they can expect when they ask for a VIN; and what I need to know if you want one made up. VIN # Year Engine 2x4 or 4x4 SWB or LWB Email address and a link to your Comanche Registry page if possible. Another note. Every VIN Graphic will be set to when emailed: 775 x 206 PIXELS not INCHES ---- This is about 9" x 2 1/4" (original is 8" x 2") if printed out exactly as such. Absolute lowest reccomendation for a clear, legible print is 750 PIXELS WIDE (any lower and text becomes hard to read). And for absolutely NO reason should you alter this VIN to set it to INCHES instead of in PIXELS. Not only will it become distorted and fuzzy, it's just not worth it. Since I didn't make the original in inches format, I am not going to do as such. Any respectable graphic shop can adjust it correctly if for whatever reason you want it dimensioned in inches. That is all. Jeep on! EDIT: If you happen to know the MONTH that your Jeep was built in (asking a lot here, I know :( ) I would appreciate you letting me know it. I don't have access to data files like a Jeep tech does; and I'd like to have the Month/Year format on the sticker, but If I don't have a month, I can only put down this down ------- > ? / 19xx
  24. Guess I never noticed it then. Don't I feel like a boob
  25. Incommando, the only reason I go to Pepboys (although I know of their "cookie-cutter bs") is because the guys up there do a quality job on my truck when I bring it in. The front desk guys also know better than to bs me, because I tell them I do 75% of my own work to the truck; so they're aware that I'm not just some ignorant boob when it comes to mechanic work. I had about a half an hour convo. last December with 2 front end guys about his Cherokee and and the others FSJ Waggy; needless to say they were very impressed at what I knew. I don't know how it is up North, but down here, most of the smaller shops do $#!&ty work work at most things you can think of. Basically, it's either: You pay for a halfass job at a smaller shop; pay the cookie cutter places; or learn to do your own work. I only have 3 mechanics I know that I take the truck in to that I trust them. Then again, the only jobs I can't do are transmiassion work, welding, and rim replaments.
