  1. Ok here you go Pete. http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/show ... hp?t=41037 http://www.manta.com/c/mm8m3ks/mayes-br ... ool-mfg-co NOTE: The above web page has a link to their "web site" which currently appears to be hacked. It also seems to have a flash component, which may trigger browser exploits, so don't go directly to the Maybes Brothers web site. http://www.greatnecksaw.com/linki.php?l ... &cPath=180 So, you'll want to contact Great Neck Saw http://www.greatnecksaw.com/ Your level was most likely manufactured prior to 1960. EDIT: By the way, when I did a Google Image search, for some reason I got a picture of "Ursula Mayes": Warning! NSFW (Not Safe for Work aka Not Safe For Wives)!!!!! http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_K23OP6WFINg/T ... es.hot.jpg
  2. I have the same level as well, somewhere in the basement, I think. I was only using it as a straight edge, because most of the bubbles were broken. So it's possible my wife might have thrown it out. It was quite old, as it was one of the tools my father-in-law gave me while we were cleaning out his construction business' garage. His dad started the company a LOOOONNNGG time ago, and never got rid of anything. If a piece of equipment broke down, he'd bring it back to his house, and park it out back. :hijack: You'd be amazed at some of the old cars back there. I'll try to post pics sometime. Back on topic, I'm searching this, and will post what I find shortly.
  3. Unfortunately, even if I did operate a licensed winery, Maryland is a no-ship state for alcohol. Can't ship wine directly to consumers from Maryland, and can't ship wine directly to Maryland consumers. :fs1:
  4. Last year I gave out homemade wine for Christmas. This year, in addition to a new batch of Strawberry wine (mmmmmm....), I've decided to give out smoked cheese. Many of you probably saw my barrel smoker post. Unfortunately the barrel smoker burns much too hot to smoke cheese. So, this weekend I built a "cold smoker" which generates smoke, but does not actually raise temperature inside the smoke chamber. Here are a few pics, and an overview... Smoke Chamber: An old microwave Smoke Generator: Tin can with a soldering iron, filled with wood chips. The soldering iron is a brand new Radio Shack selectable wattage soldering iron. It is capable of producing heat from 554 F to 900 F, so that I have an adjustable thermostat for the smoke generator. How it works: See http://www.freewebs.com/natuurkundewaves/microwaves.htm for a diagram of the inside of a microwave. I completely removed all electronic components from the old microwave, leaving the wave guide intact (the metal piece above the tin can in my pictures). On this model microwave, the microwave emitter was above the wave guide, so it was necessary to use a Dremel Drill to cut ventilation holes in the bottom of the wave guide, then cover the top hole with aluminum foil. I also covered a side ventilation hole with aluminum foil. I also removed the cardboard cover over the wave guide which is on the inside of the microwave. I filled the smoke generator with a small amount of wood chips (this is just a test burn), and then placed the smoke generator under the wave generator. I turned the soldering iron on to maximum, waited a couple minutes, and smoke started pouring into the microwave. A word of caution: Never disassemble a microwave plugged in. Even after the microwave is unplugged, the components may still have a potentially DEADLY electrical charge. You may want to contact a qualified electrician to discharge all components for you prior to dis-assembly. As you can see from the last pic, the smoker worked very well during the test burn. I just need to clean it up a little more, and I'll be ready to smoke some cheese!
  5. While replacing the clutch master cylinder, I accidentally rounded off the flare nut which connects the clutch line to the CMC. Any idea where to obtain a replacement? I might look at the junk yard, but chances are probably low of finding one since it's copper, and scrap copper goes for a fortune these days. Any idea where I might find one new? Also, I'm looking at just trimming the end off the clutch line and putting a new flare on the end. Are there any problems with this, besides the obvious risk of the flare not being properly formed?
  6. My father-in-law has a friend who's a pilot, and recently got to go up in a MiG Fighter Jet. He said it was incredible, and is considering trying to get his pilot's license now. Lucky SOB.
  7. Awesome Sam! I'm about to bottle this year's Strawberry wine, and them I'm considering making a habernero based cooking wine...or alcoholic hot sauce as I've been calling it.
  8. There's an excellent diagram of the inner workings of the CMC at: http://jeep.zerok.ru/index.php?page=75 about 2/3 of the way down the page. Last I went to the auto parts store, they had stopped selling the CMC repair kits, and you can now only purchase new CMCs for Comanches.
  9. Found this on JeepForum, it's for a YJ, but same procedure... http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f12/clut ... nt-728960/ Pay very close attention to the last picture in the first post: That's what the connection to the clutch pedal should look like. By the way, I see that the YJ doesn't have the design flaw the MJ does...the CMC isn't directly above the fuse panel, so you don't have to worry about a leak destroying your electrical system.
  10. You found a virtually rust-free MJ in this area?!? I'm impressed. I'm hoping that with my raise I should get in January I might be able to buy a second MJ as a "project" vehicle.
  11. Great find Kyle! I'll keep them in mind if I ever need gas tank work done.
  12. Spray-on/roll-on bed liner?
  13. I voted no. But my vote didn't show up.
  14. Actually I'm not planning on it being load bearing. I'm purposely bolting it together, not welding, so that it will break apart at the bolt points instead of simply bending. So, "light bar" is probably a more accurate description. Chances of me actually ever rolling over *knock on wood* are very slim, considering I barely take the truck on the highway anymore, and never off-road.
  15. Hey wait a second.... YOU DIDNT GET THE TAILLIGHTS?!?!?!
  16. I've got an old metal tube bunk bed I used as a kid, I'm considering hacking up and bolting together as a rollbar/light bar. I don't actually expect to ever roll the MJ, considering it's only 2WD, and I will not be taking it offroad (that's what the JK is for!!!!) However, I thought it would be nice if I could give my MJ a new look, and maybe add some lights up top. I'll probably turn the ladder into a spare tire mount along the inside of the bed, in the front right corner. Here is a stock photo of the bunk bed in question, and my assembly diagram. Thoughts? And yes, I spend hours each day trying to figure out how to turn "junk" into something useful. :rotf:
  17. Grats! And to add to automan's post... Welcome to the burden of plumbing, electrical, roof repair, and property taxes.
  18. So, you didn't want the ugly green grille?
  19. That actually could be factory. My MJ had the factory engine and valve cover with "OK" written on it until about a year ago, when I made the mistake of taking it to Sears to get the oil changed instead of changing it myself. I don't know what the hell they did, but I started leaking oil like crazy...and when I started checking for the leak, found a hole MELTED through the valve cover next to the oil fill. They wouldn't do anything about it, and claimed ignorance. I took it to the dealer, and they wanted to charge me $600 to replace the cover. Their reason for that high expense was they "had to do a pressure test" after replacing the valve cover. I laughed my @$$ off at them, then got a mechanic relative (my Uncle, how I miss him) to replace the cover for $75, including parts and labor. Since my uncle passed away I started doing all my own work.
  20. Just saw this today while looking for parts for my MJ... Motionoffroad.com (who I've never dealt with, anyone??) just started carrying these this month.... 21. Bad news for AT&T users. Apparently AT&T has disabled your ability to install applications, unless they come from the Android market.
  22. Please note you may need to enable "Unknown Sources" to install the application. From the home screen, this is under Menu->Settings->Applications Check "Unknown Sources". Once you have installed the app, please uncheck "Unknown Sources" to keep your phone secure.
  23. Ok, for anyone interested in testing the OBD I/II decoder, I have a very limited beta version available. It will decode OBD I codes 11 through 14. Just use the barcode scan app to scan this image with your Android phone....
  24. So I took a break from the VIN decoder. Look what I started working on...
  25. I think I've seen a Comanche posted on Craigslist from the Dillsburg area before. Might be the same one. By the way, they're getting ready to install speed cameras in the construction zone on 15 in the Frederick, MD area.
