Because it's a non-traditional internal combustion engine, good luck finding a mechanic other than the dealer to work on it. And since dealers will have a monopoly on the mechanic business for these things, prices will be over inflated. "Dude, look at this great gas mileage I'm getting!" "Dude...your last trip to the mechanic cost you more than the car is worth..."

:smart: The "true" answer: Kerosene is normally not recommended for vehicles, as it is considered a "dirty" fuel. It has sulfur content much higher than off-road diesel. Off-road (Low sulfur diesel) has 500 ppm (parts per million) sulfur. It is undyed and untaxed, and not authorized for use on public roads. This diesel can be used for all diesel vehicles produced prior to 2007 (if memory serves me correctly). Prior to 2007, low sulfur diesel was dyed and taxed for highway use. NOTE: There are severe fines should one be discovered using undyed off-road diesel on public roads. Police can and will check for this. Highway/Road (Ultra Low sulfur diesel) has 15 ppm sulfur. It is dyed and taxed for use on roads. It's important to note that the use of this fuel in pre-2007 vehicles MAY result in increased maintenance costs on the engine, as it is known that using this fuel on pre-2007 vehicles MAY cause seals to shrink or fuel pump failures. However, the EPA "recommends" this fuel for all diesel engines. By the way, this damage to your engine is brought to you by the same folks who caused the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster :mad: The "real" answer: Your girl is correct. Do not argue with her. I've been married for 7 years. Trust me on this.

Something you need to keep in mind...how is the truck tagged? Does it have Historic tags, regular tags, what? A lot of states place restrictions on what you can do with a vehicle with Historic tags... For example, in Maryland you are only allowed to drive a vehicle with historic tags in parades, to car shows, etc. It's primary purpose must not be transporting passengers or cargo. Make sure you don't accidentally incriminate yourself of a greater charge while trying to defend the current charges.

I've compiled some interesting specifications for the various engines used in the Comanche. Here's the history of the Comanche Engine... 1986: Two gasoline engines offered, Inline-4 and V-6. Very little historical information found in news articles about the 1986 Turbo-Diesel, but it is mentioned. 4 cylinder 250 cubic inch (2.5 L) 117 hp @ 5,000 rpm 135 ft-lb torque @ 3,500 rpm 24/27 mpg 6 cylinder 2.8L (V6) 150 ft/lb of torque @ ??? RPM 17/22 mpg 1987-1990: The I-4 remains the same, but gains hp and torque due to a larger air cleaner. The V6 is replaced with a 4.0L Inline-6. So, could 1986 I-4 owners gain hp and torque by swapping in the 1987 air cleaner? 4 cylinder 2.5L 121 hp @ 5,000 rpm 141 ft/lb of torque @ 3,500 rpm 6 cylinder 4.0L 173 hp @ 4,500 rpm (NOTE: A 1991 article states that the 1990 engine had 177 hp. It is believed this was a misprint) 220 ft/lb of torque @ 2,500 rpm 1991-1992: Both I-4 and I-6 receive upgrades. 4 Cylinder 2.5L 126 hp @ 5250 RPM 148 ft/lb torque @ 3000 RPM Multi-point fuel injection system (previous years were throttle-body fuel injection). 6 Cylinder 4.0L 190 hp @ 4750 RPM 225 ft/lb torque @ 4000 RPM

Personally, I prefer my MJ non-lifted. That's because it's my daily driver, and since it's only 2WD, I never take it offroad. However, I do like the extra ground clearance on my wife's JK, which has a height much higher than a stock MJ. I've only had it off-road a couple times, and only when I needed to take a shortcut off the beaten path (and the grocery store clerk gave me really funny looks for driving up a hill to get to the parking lot next door). -

I keep one of these at home in case someone visiting me locks their keys in their car, though I've luckily never had to use it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slim_Jim_%28lock_pick%29 Note that it's never a good idea to carry one of these in your vehicle. It could be considered a "tool of thievery", and would be a rather bad thing for a police officer to find if they search your vehicle for any reason. EDIT: By the way, these most likely will NOT work with newer vehicles. But fortunately the newer vehicles this won't work on have OnStar so that you can have them remotely unlock the vehicle. -
1989 comanche ax15 bleed clutch?

? clutch ... no bleeding required, just pump it up. its not like your brake system. You need to bleed your clutch whenever you replace a component in the clutch hydraulic assembly, such as the clutch master cylinder. -

In another thread someone posted that for a short while Jeep stated on their official website that the Comanche was in production from 1984 to 1992. At first I laughed about this. Perhaps Jeep started working on the Comanche in 1984?
