Sounds like you've got two good reasons right there. Explain in your notice that you are leaving your job because you want to: a) Move with your girlfriend, so that you can continue to have a serious relationship B) Further your education - This sounds like a great opportunity to me: Maryland has some pretty good colleges. Sounds to me like your boss is trying to do what he can to keep you. That might not be a solution, but it's the best he can offer at this time. Moving closer to your GF/fiance/wife is a very valid reason in my opinion. If the company really wants to keep you, they might offer you a pay increase to stay. I've left only one full time position myself, and perhaps this will help, perhaps not. I worked full time at a grocery store deli to help finish my (part-time) education. I actually put in my notice twice. The first time, I put in my notice so that I could concentrate on school, with the plan of my wife supporting me financially until I graduated, as I explained in the letter. The deli manager talked me into staying, but cutting my hours back to 32 hr/wk instead of 40. This lasted for 2 weeks, then the other full timers started complaining that it wasn't fair I only had to work 32 while they had to work 40. So, I was put back on 40 hours, despite my protest. I managed to pull through, but then my wife's grandfather passed away. He was owner of the family construction business, leaving only my father-in-law to work/run the business. I put in my 2 weeks notice again, explaining that I needed to go help my father-in-law. The store manager and deli manager understood completely, and actually let me leave early so that I could help my father-in-law the next week. There were no hard feelings, and even though I was leaving them short handed, they were ok with it because they knew how important family is to me. Hopefully, your employer will feel the same. Now, with that said, is your girlfriend willing to help support you financially until you can find a job? Would she be willing to support you financially if you decided to go back to school and further your education? Also, what part of Maryland are you looking to move to? I can provide a few local newspaper websites if you want to try to find help wanted ads, depending on the area.

If you don't know what state the vehicle is in, you could get a report from AutoCheck. They'll give you a pretty complete history report, including registration renewal locations.

All my research for the Comanche history site, and I didn't see mention of a factory CD player for the MJ. Even if there was, I doubt few people got one. The factory AM-FM Stereo for the MJ cost $177 in 1986. http://jeepcomanche.blogspot.com/1986/01/jeep-comanche-smart-looking-and.html

So, my MJ has some minor surface rust on both sides. I'm thinking of trying my hand at repairing the rust and repainting the entire truck. I've never done body work before, but I have done drywall work, including applying mud, sanding, and roller painting. Any guides you guys would recommend for a beginner?

Got to do the oil change, but didn't get to snap the pics because I ran out of daylight (worked late). Try to do it this weekend.

Did an oil change to the MJ, it's finally ready to be my daily driver again.

I can't provide a breakdown, but I can confirm that's a reasonable estimate. According to a 1992 article, when the Comanche was ended on June 12, 1992, approximately 12 Comanches were being produced per day. See http://jeepcomanche.blogspot.com/1992/06/chrysler-to-end-production-of-jeep.html $#!&. I am tired of @#$% idiots mudding my waters with incorrect statements. The Comanche DID NOT end in June. The rumored last one produced was on May 18th, 1992. Our closest member is May 4th, 1992. Even this article you linked states that: If anyone needs or desires, correct info or a straight answer, talk to me. I live this, and I take a lot of pride in my findings and running the registry. No, we do not know the breakdown of the packages produced. Yes, some numbers will show 4x4's as compared to 2x4's. But only some years. Don't ask me why. Don't ever trust any numbers posted by Jeep. They are horrible at getting facts right and they can't even get the packages correct. For a time they actually listed the Comanche as made from '84-'92. Rob  Fair enough. I'm definitely not stating that the production number is accurate, I'm stating that based upon my math, that seems like a fair ballpark number. I apologize if that was not how it came across. I'm only estimating numbers here, based upon available data. It saddens me that all we have to deal with are estimates and rumors... Somewhere in a storage shed somewhere are multiple boxes full of papers containing the "holy grail" of Comanche history, I'm sure of it. Not even Chrysler knows where it is. Until then, we'll have to try to piece its history together best we can.

:rotf: Seriously though, I saw the post before anyone responded and decided "If you don't have anything nice to say don't say it" Then I changed my mind. Few years back a friend of mine had a lexus IS300 with a $#!& looking CF hood on it. He said "Man I get nothing but complements on it" I told him that it was because anybody that didn't like it held their tongue. I can't have you go around thinking everyone thinks its awesome looking, when people like me are just too nice to say it looks like shit. This is why I love these forums. You guys are honest.

I can't provide a breakdown, but I can confirm that's a reasonable estimate. According to a 1992 article, when the Comanche was ended on June 12, 1992, approximately 12 Comanches were being produced per day. See http://jeepcomanche.blogspot.com/1992/06/chrysler-to-end-production-of-jeep.html 12 Comanches per day X 5 days per week X 52 weeks per year = 3120 Comanche trucks produced in one year at that rate. Jeep sold 7,252 MJs for the 1990 year http://jeepcomanche.blogspot.com/1990/07/national-council-of-jeepeagle-dealers.html That means for 1990, approximately 28 MJs were being produced per day. (Probably more, dealers never sell every new vehicle in the production year, hence why you can get great "end of year sales") If we take the 5188 number for 1991, divide by 52 weeks, divide by 5 days per week, we get approximately 20 MJs produced per day. That's a reasonable reduction in the number produced, given the declining sales shown in the 1990 article. Based upon the above, each year, the number of MJs being produced per day was being reduced by approximately 10.

The nice part about this top is that you can very easily roll back the front part of the top and secure it, so you don't have to take the entire top off. The actual top itself requires 2 people to put on... one to snap the edges in place, while the other pulls with all their might to stretch the top down.

It's hit and miss. I went there for some Ford hubcaps a few years back when I accidentally broke one of my father-in-law's on the construction job.... I think the key is to ask the price of whatever part you're looking for up front, then go find the part. Otherwise, the price will be inflated. It also depends on who's there. If it's the old guy, yea he's an a$$hole. But the younger guy that helped me was pretty decent. ...then again, it probably helps that I went to school with one of their sons. As far as the name, yea Elwood's might also be the name. I think that's the name of the old guy that owns it. They're a bunch of good ol' boys, you go in there and BS with them, and you might get a better deal.

Try Grimm's in Smithsburg. I haven't been there in a while though. It's on Jefferson Pike.

Let's have some fun and talk about the projects we want to do, but know we'll never get to because we won't ever have the time or money. Mine: There are two projects which fit in this category: 1) Build a "Green MJ". Not only would the MJ be painted green, it would also run on water. 2) Build a "Grand Cheromanche", using parts from a junkyard MJ which has been totaled in the front and the front half of a brand new Grand Cherokee. The truck that never was.

Put a new Bestop Trektop on my wife's JK tonight. Here's some pics I took at the gas station...sorry about the crappy quality, it's dark, and I was using my camera phone. I like the look, makes the Jeep look a little more sporty. Now I need to work on the MJ...it might get jealous.

My new Discount Auto Parts Website
beepbeepmyredjeep replied to beepbeepmyredjeep's topic in The Pub
It seems I was having some DNS issues. Should be working now! -
Hey guys, I know most of you here do your own mechanic work. :wrench: I also know that auto parts can be pretty frickin' expensive sometimes. During the past several months while doing some major work to my MJ, I realized that there are a lot of discount codes out there for auto parts suppliers, if you knew where to look. As I started tracing down these discount codes, I realized "hey, other people could use this info!" So, I started a new website. Ken's Discount Auto Parts and Accessories: http://www.discountauto.tk Just to be upfront with you guys, please note that some of the discounts will be sponsored, such as the discounts for Advance Auto. I'll get a commission on sales generated through those links. However, I will also be posting codes which aren't sponsored, such as RockAuto.com discount codes. So, please feel free to check the site out, and use the discount codes I have posted.

If it ever stops raining, I'll snap some pics and take some measurements while I give the MJ an oil change.

For differences in engines between the various years, please take a look at my post which details the evolution of both the 4 cyl and 6 cyl engines in the Comanche viewtopic.php?f=3&t=29551&hilit=engine Personally, I have a 1987 4 cyl, and it performs great as a daily driver. I get a little over 20 mpg.

Comanche Dash Bezel???
beepbeepmyredjeep replied to kawaboy13's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
It's been many years since I saw the dash removed (about 15 or so when my dad installed a cassette player), but if I remember correctly once you punch these out, you can't put them back in, because they actually "snap" free. You could possibly super glue them back in place. -
Not the build sheet, but here's the VIN decoded... Country of Manufacture United States Manufacturer Jeep Corporation Vehicle Type Truck Engine 4.0L, I-6, MPI Powertrain 4-speed automatic, column gear shift, part time 4 W/D Body Type Jeep Comanche, 4-W/D Pickup, 7.0 foot bed, 120 inch wheel base Gross Vehicle Weight Comanche Pioneer = 4001 - 5000 lbs / J-20 Truck = 5001 - 6000 lbs Model Year 1987 Assembly Plant Toledo, Ohio, USA

Yes, the JK has a weight sensor in the passenger seat. Whenever my 30 lb dog sits up front, my JK disables the passenger side airbag because it thinks there's a small child in the seat (which isn't far from the truth, my dog acts like a little kid).

My father in law used to have one of these blowers on a tractor with a 3 point hitch. It really moved some snow.

Picked up the MJ from a friend who put on new brake shoes, brake cylinders, and tightened my steering column. Need to do an oil change, and it'll be back on the road as a daily driver again.
