  1. Really really well actually. Been driving it every day and other than a small oil leak all is good. Definitely want some new wheels soon though
  2. Got the hood vents in! Not bad for some eBay ones. They ship flat so you can use them as a template, then bend them once installed. Also cleaned and painted the underside of the hood

    Oil question

I researched oils for a long time when I first got my Cherokee. After running pretty much all the big brands, I switched over to the shell rotella. There is a ton of people running the t6 synthetic in everything. From jeeps to Subarus to muscle cars. It's one of the very last oils that actually has zddp or zinc in it and that's great for the flat tappet cams in the 4.0. Most all oils got rid of zinc because it messes with cats. You can still buy a bottle of the stuff to mix in but rotella also has a ton of detergents and it also can withstand high heat. It's also coming out in a lot of different weights now. I used to run 15w40 regular in my Cherokee but once I fixed all the oil leaks I switched to 5w40 full synthetic and I also run that in my LS Comanche. They also make it easier being it has one conventional, one blend, and one synthetic
  4. I have a pretty good set of Cherokee non 2door wing seats in grey. Looking for an almond or honey set to trade for mine. Located in NJ but PA and NY are fair game. Driver side has a small rip in the leather area. But that's it for damage. Foam and padding is still good.
  5. Rebuilt the new to me tan column. Wasn't too bad just so many little pieces in that thing. Also got the new steering box in at the same time. What a difference. Don't feel like I'm driving it like in the old movies where they are just steering back and forth going straight. Also got the interior "done". Still need new seats and a new steering wheel but the dash and panels are all done. Painted the lower dash piece and arm rests with SEM. That stuff works great.
  6. See that's the hardest part of the whole thing. Trying not to mash the throttle every take off or tunnel lol I will say after driving this thing and going back to my Cherokee, that thing definitely needs a V8 too
  7. First one. The Cherokee specific one seemed like it could work but that bracket on the retractor worried me so I went for universal. There are a lot of different styles but that's the one that worked for me. And just enlarging the one hole. No b pillar trimming required at all.
  8. So the universal 3 point style from seatbelt plus is a pretty much a drop in replacement. Only thing I had to do was enlarge the hole on the retractor. Everything else bolted right in and it fit behind the b pillar perfectly. They also look exactly like the OEM belts. Buckles and all.
  9. Got some new adjustable mirrors because the 86 I got had the trim piece. Also got my new seat belts. Other than the color being off they seem super nice. Looks like it should work. I'll find out tomorrow when I'm swapping everything in. Also got my new red head steering box. Got one in my Cherokee and it's super nice. I might put that in tomorrow too with the tan column.
  10. Nice. I have a new posi carrier and thought about 3.73 but that would be a little high in the rpm on the highways after seeing what 3.55 does
  11. Yeah it's definitely better than my Cherokee for sure. And that's average is 13mpg based on the overhead unit. And it's a 3.55 rear. 3000 rpm at 75.
  12. I can't be the only L33 Comanche that runs, get er done!
  13. On my trip I was seeing around 16 to 20. But I hammer the gas any chance I get still lol. I image once I calm down I'll be seeing low 20s
  14. Found my old cable from the original dash. Wrapped it in the 2000 degree exhaust header wrap and then a 1000 degree aluminum fiberglass tape. Hopefully that takes care of the melting issue.
  15. I wasnt able to complete an order either. Got to the last part and it just wouldn't go through. Tried a bunch of times and never let me finish the payment.
  16. 2 hour drive down the shore and I only melted the speedo cable. I call that a success.
  17. https://www.seatbeltsplus.com/product/WSCH256P.html These look almost like a dead similar set up as the OEM style.
  18. I used a small 5/16 plastic hose. Was the only one I had that fit. Took a bit of wiggling but I got it and it drained the tank almost till empty. Took a while though.
  19. Just after some good seat belts. I figured they wouldn't be perfect OEM matchable. 30 year old seat belts just don't seem like a great idea to use especially since I might race this thing. Biggest concern was fitment because they are for an xj. As long as I don't have to cut up trim and they work I'm good.
  20. Quite amazing how fast all that came out. The hardest part was the a pillars because at some point the windshield was replaced and they used so much glue it stuck the glass to the trim. Other than that everything came out easy. I got a new heater core for mine as I might as well change it when I go to swap the dash.
  21. Wow lots of options here. That sunroof style hood would actually be pretty legit... After searching many and many website I think I found some I'm gonna get. https://www.verus-engineering.com/shop/product/hood-louver-kit-large-vents-brz-frs-gt86-332?page=2&category=17 They are angled the exact way I wanted. Help force the air out and not only cool but help with some downforce as well. Plus they make drip rails for them too.
  22. Anybody find new manufactured seat belts that work? closest ive found are these : https://www.seatbeltsplus.com/product/Q8496P-4DR.html found a couple of threads about it but they fizzled out without a definite answer.

    Seat belt

Need a driver side shoulder seat belt with the retractor. Tan color. Almond or honey would work.
  24. How do you like the grant wheel and adapter? I'm looking at a MOMO right now but 250 for a wheel is something else
