  1. I went with the loaded stainless. Originally I was gonna get just the plain mil spec one in black but while out shopping my buddy found the stainless in a case and made me check it out, after that it was a done deal lol. I wanted the better trigger and upgraded internals and also combat sights so I splurged and got the loaded
  2. Haven't really had much time or funds the past couple weeks for alot of stuff. Treated myself to a new Springfield armory 1911, thing was more expensive than my whole jeep! But back on track now. I got the clutch and flywheel, Powertrax limited slip, Yukon axles, transmission adapter and mount from Novak, and a couple small things. Hopefully by the end of March beginning of April I will start ripping it apart. I just love driving this truck so much I don't wanna have it down longer than I need it to be. Last two expensive parts are gonna be the efi system and headers, then the nickel and dime stuff that's gonna kill me...
  3. Welp I decided that if I'm opening it up I'm replacing it all. 100 bucks for high beam switch, turn signal switch, new cam, stalk, tumbler, and ignition switch. Pretty much a freshening up minus wiper switch
  4. I just ordered a new stalk because mine is all cracked and ugly. A new turn switch is only 30 bucks for an acdelco so i might just order it and since I'm going in there i might as well replace it. The wiper switch on the other hand is 150....so that will stay put.
  5. Finally got to taking the exhaust manifolds off. They were super rusty so i kept putting them off. 3 bolts were already broken. The rest came out without issue surprising. Two of the broken were still accessible so a pipe wrench made short work. Last one was flush with the block. First time using a extractor and it was a success! Super scary doing it though. That was pretty much the last part of getting the engine prepped that I can do on the stand. Everything else will be done once it's in the jeep
  6. Like the title says, my turn signal stalk is super floppy/loose. It still works fine in all functions but I can pretty much make a circle without it grabbing any of the functions like high beams or turn signal. Is this because of the main switch inside the steering wheel? Also, if I do replace that what else should I do while I'm in there. Thanks.
  7. worked like a charm, stuff fell right off. 10 minutes with a polisher and they look great. thanks!
  8. Left my lights on yesterday. In search of the blue buzzer box. Thanks.
  9. Thanks for the tips. Does anyone know where to get the gasket that rides along the glass? The bottom one that's right up on it
  10. Got a new windshield installed. Couldn't deal with the massive water leaks anymore so I bit the bullet on one. Didn't realize how sand blasted my old windshield was though. Difference is night and day
  11. Trying to get the chipped and faded paint or cover off my window trim. Anyone got any tips? It's pretty cold by me right now and it is chipping off but I don't feel like doing it for a whole day.
  12. Limeyjeeper is correct on all the aspects. I'm in the middle of an ls swap as well. I still have the engine on a stand and I am still gathering parts. I am trying to keep this sub 5k. He is definitely going the correct professional way, I am going the junkyard just get it running way...we shall see how it pans out for me. I wanted an all aluminum block so I paid more than your iron block ls. Expect to pay about 600 for a lowish mileage junkyard one. I got 2 used transmissions for 300. But I'm staying 2wd so I save alot on transfer case and driveshafts. My list is absolutely no where near done but this is a bulk of the big stuff.
  13. Pretty much got the motor ready. Degreased, intake installed, new timing set, better oil pump, new oil pan that hopefully will have enough clearance since I'm lowered. Still got a long way to go but atleast the motor part is real close to done. Also took the Jeep out of storage and started driving it this past week. Got a storage unit for all my crap. Wayyy overdue for one but it'll be nice so I can round of up my stuff and have it all in one place (and room for even more stuff)
  14. In search of the clips for the relay cover
  15. Oh I will once it I start. Right now it's getting atf in the cylinders and shoved in the storage unit until the manche is done.

    Turbo 4.0

Talking to my buddy the other night and during our convo it came up that his friend had a turbo setup and 4.0 block that's fresh and he needs to get rid of it asap. I don't know the alot of the details but low and behold I'm getting everything for free. Picked the block up last night and while it's not perfect the cylinder walls look good and he says it's fresh. Getting the turbo, cam, custom manifold he made and computer soon too. Definitely gonna be a looooong time before I can get it in my Cherokee as I want to finish the LS manche first.
  17. My 2.5 did pretty much the same thing. I cleaned up a lot of vacuum lines and deleted alot of the emission stuff to eliminate leak points. But I definitely agree with eaglescout526, my idle adjuster motor actuator (whatever it's called) was simply not working right. It wouldn't adjust idle or do anything really. It actually is supposed to open the throttle up at shut off for easier starting. Rockauto has a replacement but it is only under a YJ Wrangler for some reason. Only place I was able to find it. Once I got mine in truck did everything correctly
  18. I just did a clutch and trans replacement on my 2.5. Bolts are easiest from the engine bay I found. Overall was not bad. Also, I did the bread trick for the pilot bearing and worked perfectly.
  19. I had restored a set of spoke wheels. Wish I had a picture of the before but they were painted spray paint black and still had the clear underneath. I stripped it off after like 12 cans of stripper. Then sanded starting at 100 grit all the way to 3000. Then polished with blue magic metal polish. Stuff is so awesome. It leaves like a protective coating on it. No need to clear just some clean up once a while. Made it two Winters and with some polish in the spring good as new. That's an old pic but the best once of them done after painted inside the spokes.
  20. Not much progress on the Jeep but definitely progress in spendy money. Got the Novak mounts, ls intake, some dress up parts for the engine. Complete gasket set. Chevy bellhousing I needed.
  21. Honestly had no idea that Edelbrock had there own ls efi system. After doing a tiny bit a of research I do like the fact it's Android friendly so I can just run a tablet for the vitals and moniter on my phone. Definitely gonna look more into it. Thanks!
  22. Yeah I did. It's only about 100 bucks cheaper. I think I'm gonna go with the holley system though.
  23. I did look into carb, but with the cost of a carb, intake manifold, and the msd box for the coils it actually costs more than the holley efi
  24. yeah I am really leaning towards the holley efi, just might bite the bullet and get it. Will be the most expensive part of this build for sure, but it will be awesome to have all new stuff and ability to learn tuning.
