  1. Looking for a good ax15 2wd. I'm in the central NJ area but anywhere in NJ and surrounding States is fair game
  2. So the only melted parts were the actual switch and the part of the connector that had the dash lights wire in it. I traced as much as I could and no wire was burnt at all throughout the dash. I spliced in the new harness and plugged the switch in. Tested it before putting it all back together and the switch stayed ice Cold with all lights on for 15 minutes. I guess I'll chock it up to a faulty switch?
  3. So the only spot that was melted on the switch was the orange and black wire. Haven't found a full diagram but it seems like it's the dash dimmer wire. Mine did flicker on and off when I tried to adjust it from the very beginning but I switched to led so I couldn't use it anyway. The switch was very clearly melted.
  4. Headlights stayed on no problem. I only noticed it because of the smoke. They actually still work fine. Haven't gotten a chance to rip it all apart yet.
  5. It was damn close. Smoke was pouring out the defroster vent. the harness should have taken the main current of the headlights off it. After I caught it the b pillar lights wouldnt turn off so I pulled the fuse. Marker lights and dash lights go through too. Everything still works fine, no blown bulbs or fuses blown either.
  6. Pretty much as the title says, after months of absolutely no problems my headlight switch decided it wanted to get hot tonight. I preemptively installed the harness while rebuilding the whole jeep pretty much and never had an issue. Then all of sudden tonight the switch got so hot the pull knob melted off. I ordered a new switch and supposedly a harness plug that will work. Anyone have this happen? Just a bum old switch or possible short somewhere?
  7. We're takin on water! And hopefully not anymore
  8. Finally got the ax5 swapped in after getting it in August. Pretty straight forward swap. Getting the trans into the engine was a bear though, took probably 3 hours and it finally fit. It's sooo nice have 5 gears. 3000 rpm at 70 all day long. Before it was 4 grand at 70 and the motor wasn't exactly the happiest.
  9. Always been a jeep guy. Xj was my first vehicle and still have it. Recently got my mj and roadtripped it this summer to a huge car show in Michigan. Went with my buddy who has a 2018 gt350. Beautiful car. He parked next to me. On my other side is a limited edition charger. And some other 50k muscle cars all around me. Before the show even started I had one guy running security come up and start to talking to me about the jeep for easily 45 min. Cool dude. Then I met these two guys which one of them is on here and he also drove is mj from PA. Talked for easily another hour. I couldn't get away from the jeep because everyone was asking me about it. All these other cars and people came right up to mine. My buddy with the mustang was pissed lol. I even got stopped while walking around by someone asking if I was the guy with the Comanche. I was just amazed at the attention it got. Even driving around town I get thumbs up and people asking me about it all the time. My xj is pretty wild looking and gets attention but no where near the amount my stock, faded paint, Comanche gets. I love this damn thing.
  10. 2nd gen blazer. 97 to 03 I think is the years? Thanks!
  11. Finally got the rear sway bar in. Definitely a lot more involved than I originally thought. Had to make custom brackets. Then I scoured AutoZone trying to find a link that would work. Eventually came up with a jeep commander front link that I think fit perfect. Still have to clean up the bracket I made and I am going to weld them in too. But as it stands it works amazing. Absolutely zero body roll in this thing now.
  12. Holy expensive sway bar links. Yeah I'm gonna try and modify stock ones first to get it level.
  13. So originally I bypassed the heater core in the spring when I was gutting everything and during hookup I didn't wanna bother with it and just get it driving. Well now it's getting pretty chilly in the mornings so I wanted heat. Hooked it back up with no heater valve, just hose from manifold to core, and a 97+ Cherokee hose from core to the water pump. Heat works great! Also got the addco front sway bar in. Sdtruck kept telling me my order was delayed 6 weeks two times in a row so I cancelled that one, ordered a xj bar off summit racing and had it in 4 days. Wish I did that from the get go. But holy **** is this bar great. Front end feels like it's on rails. Can't wait to get the rear bar in. Definitely gotta make shorter end link though, got an extra set on there way and will cut down and weld them up.
  14. Finally changed out the tie rod ends and upgraded to the ZJ tie rod end. Also got "the cure" from ruffstuff coming in the mail. My rear belltech sway bar came in and looks pretty stout, just gotta make a run to the junkyard to grab XJ rear mounts. Still waiting on the addco front unfortunately, but hopefull itll come soon.
  15. Any chance you could take some close up pics of the motor mounts? Starting to get my 5.2 swap in motion and that's one of my hurdles. Thanks
  16. Well alot to read on here. Didn't know Novak was so spotty. I have there shifter cable for the Cherokee and it's awesome, so I assumed pretty much everything they make is good enough. I meant the original 327, thought it would be a good little motor. High compression build and all. Definitely sticking with gas. This is gonna be a street/strip truck. Same as Jeepdriver, definitely keeping it a manual. That's the main reason I got this truck, other than the fact I love jeeps
  17. Yeah my goal is use the ax15 for sure so Novak has been my go too. Anything I put in it won't be left stock so I feel if I actually build the 360 the torque would be very close if not more than the ax15 limit. The more and more I look at gm stuff I feel like that's the move. I mean I set of aluminum cylinder heads is 400 less than just 1 for the 360. I really wanted to keep it AMC or jeep but the budget and my fab ability says GM
  18. Still undecided in this swap. Still keeping an eye out for a good 304, but now I'm kind of looking at the Chevy swaps. Man speed parts are Soo cheap for those compared to AMC and Mopar. Really don't want to do a 350 but I have been looking into a 327. A little different but just as 'easy' as a 350 swap. After thinking about it with the amount of GM that's been in jeeps it definitely fits the Comanches timeline better than a 318.
  19. Update. Swapped my front cut springs to some zj rear springs. Soooo much better. Still stiff but nowhere near as bad as the cut. Before it was like riding a dump truck. Now it's more way more tolerable. Also added a roll pan bumper for the rear. Its from an s10 and it actually fits really well. A tad short on the sides but good enough for me. Now to decide whether to paint it or leave it black.
  20. Huh never would have ever guess that. Good to know. Do you think the 1 1/8 bar will be a good fit size wise? Or stiffness wise rather?
  21. Found a belltech 1 and 1/8 bar for a 95 to 01 blazer so looks like that's gonna be what I get. Pricier than the addco but it's also bigger
  22. Almost forgot, I didn't know this when I bought the truck but while cleaning it out I found the original owners notes on all maintenance performed since day 1 of owning all the way up to when he stopped driving it about 2017.
  23. So all of this was in preparation for a road trip to roadkill nights in Pontiac Michigan. For anyone that doesn't know Roadkill is a show and the are sponsored by dodge. They hold this giant car show/drag race event for the past 5 yrs. Last year I drove the xj to it. This is I entered the mj in the show. So all this build up was for the trip and I wanted as much done as possible to avoid having to call AAA and showing up on a flat bed. Along with building the MJ, I got a free 1999 Camry from my neighbor and planned on giving it to my sister for her first car. Well as all free cars go it needed EVERYTHING. plus my dad wanted it safe so I made the list. Along with everything I did to the manche, the Camry got a full brakeing system, suspension, and a ton of work too. The last of the Comanche parts were a track bar, and WJ control arms installed. And then just making sure I tightened everything and little odds and ends. July was a straight mad rush working on both cars every day after work and the only thing I would do on my days off. Well it payed off because not only did I make to Michigan and back no issues (except throwing the belt on the dyno) the Comanche was a hit at the show. I couldn't get away from it cause so many people were coming to talk about it. It was awesome. As as I got home the clutch master went out in my driveway. Luck is an understatement. So I fixed that and drove 2 more hours down the shore for vacation with no issues. This thing is awesome. That was 2 weeks ago. I haven't done much recently. Just enjoying driving it before winter comes and I put it away. It will never see salt. I'll keep updating as I go along now that I am all caught up. Sorry for the extremely long initial posts.
